Google's annual Android Security Review names PRIV one of the most secure smartphones of last year. While rather unsurprising to most of us here, there are some areas of the report that BlackBerry's software efforts receive some substantial kudos.
Four big tech coalitions have teamed up to write an open letter to two senators in opposition to a bill that would require smartphone manufacturers to decrypt data for law enforcement on demand. Some of the companies the coalitions represent include Apple, Google, and Facebook.
BlackBerry has made the April security patches available to all BlackBerry Priv owners. Those who purchased from ShopBlackBerry have already had this update since March 23, but it is now available from other carriers.
BlackBerry has taken to its official blog to pat itself on the back for being able to keep up with pushing security updates to the Priv faster than any other OEM. Since the release of the Priv, BlackBerry has pushed the security update out the same day Google detailed the changes.
