RIM opens the doors to new BlackBerry Innovation Center in Indonesia

As well as working hard on BlackBery 10, RIM is has been busy in other places too. Just today, RIM opened up a Tech Center Porting Lab in the UK to help BlackBerry 10 developers and across the globe they also opened up an Innovation Center in Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in Indonesia. The Innovation Center is to provide a host of educational and research programs that focus mainly on mobile computing. An area that RIM is pushing very much and they hope that this will help towards increasing skills within the mobile computing industry.

Along with this partnership with ITB, RIM is introducing research scholarships in Mobile Computing to 30 students, each year for the next five years. Those who are successful in gaining a scholarship will have their tuition fees paid and will also receive a research bursary for the duration of their study at ITB.

It is good to see RIM supporting developers and students alike. Read on for the full Press Release. Check out the video above of a 3D rendering of the Innovation Center made back in August.
