BlackBerry charging solution shootout

BlackBerry Charging Solution Shootout

Through many years and many BlackBerry devices I have never ventured beyond the factory charger. It has always been a point of frustration that the cable included with the BlackBerry has a straight tip, yet the Micro USB connection is on the side of most devices. This makes it awkward when charging and a few times led to bent pins if the device falls from it's charging perch. There are a number of options available for charging your BlackBerry. Which charger charges the fastest? Does the type of charger make a difference regarding battery life throughout the day? Is the most expensive option the best?

Lifestyles of the rich and case-less

Using the Case-Mate Fuel and Aquapac Case

In keeping up with the Aloha Joe motto "Carpe Diem" (Latin for "Seize the Day")...I am constantly on the go, and lead a pretty active lifestyle. Whether it be hiking the slopes of Diamond Head Crater, surfing the breaks on the North Shore, or just chillin' with a Corona in hand at the family beach house; I have found two things:

  1. My BB has gotten wet and/or submerged in the ocean, the pool, a goblet of Corona, a glass Grey Goose and Patron more times than I care to remember... and
  2. Even though BlackBerry has a phenomenal battery life, I still find myself taking my BlackBerry's battery to the brink of death in about 2 days.

Thus, this week I will be reviewing two items that will hopefully bring an end to my BlackBerry worries:

  • AquaPac Waterproof Case (BlackBerry Bold 9700)
  • Case-Mate Fuel Rechargeable Battery Pack Holster (BlackBerry Bold 9700)

BlackBerry Bluetooth Speakerphone Shootout

Having a Bluetooth headset is becoming a necessity for some people as laws are being enforced all over North America against talking on cell phones without a handsfree device. However some people prefer not having something wrapped around their ear or a device they can utilize fully while on the road. There are cars that have the feature of having a Bluetooth system built in, but for those who are not fortunate to have one, there are Bluetooth Speakerphones. In this review, I will be putting the top three selling in the CrackBerry Store to the test to see which one is right for you. We'll be looking at the feature rich Blue Ant S4, the popular Blackberry VM 605 and the easy to use Mr. Handsfree Blue Vision II.

Bluetooth headset head to head: Jabra Stone vs. Motorola Endeavor

As someone who works in New York City, there are two things I've learned: (1) never publicly admit you're a Mets fan and (2) Manhattan is the noisiest city there is. Between the subways, buses, cars, taxis, and of course, the people, you need earplugs just to walk down the street. So imagine trying to have a phone conversation while walking anywhere in midtown. It's definitely not a pretty sight. At times I'm like the Verizon guy asking "Can you hear me now?" So what is a city girl to do? To solve that problem I'm going to put two headsets head to head in a battle to see which one can survive "the Manhattan Zone." I'm going to venture out to different parts of the city to see which one will come out on top and be declared the heavyweight champion. Who do you think will win? Click on the jump to find out.

Review of 5BARz Road Warrior for BlackBerry

Have you had a problem with keeping a steady signal on your Smart Phone device? Maybe you're driving and you lose reception going downhill. Maybe you've dropped a few calls while talking at home, or better yet, you have to go to a kitchen corner for better reception. Well the kind people at 5BARz have come up with a possible solution for those of us that live out in the sticks with no reception, called the ROAD WARRIOR. The slogan for 5BARz is "Always On! Always connected! Anytime. Anywhere." Sounds tough doesn't it? After all, it's a WARRIOR!

BlackBerry Skin Case for the BlackBerry Bold 9650

Body:

What can you say about the BlackBerry skin case? Almost everyone has one, be it for looks or protection, and it is probably the most common case there is. The skin case covers the back and sides of the device protecting it from daily bumps and bruises, while giving you some style in the process. The cases some in a variety of colors, so you can be sure you'll find one that fits you (and your device!). If you like to keep it simple and don't want to go overboard with an insane amount of protection, this might be the case for you. Check out the video about for a quick look, then hit the jump for some images.

Case-Mate Barely There Case for the BlackBerry Bold 9650

Body:

The Barely There case from Case-Mate is one of my favorites. It gives a different look to the device, while providing great protection to the sides and back. While some may prefer a more "all over" case, I like the look and feel of the Barely There on my device. The case is available in both Black and Metallic Silver and leaves you with easy access to all ports and buttons while not getting in the way of daily use. The Barely There cases are also availble for other devices including the 9700, 8900 and 95xx series. Check out some up-close images after the jump.

video filmed on the street where I live! for real!!

I honestly don't even know the score of what provinces/states have or have yet to ban talking on cell phones while driving, but just yesterday in the province where I live the new law came fully into affect. Luckily I've been in the habit of using my BlackBerry Visor Speakerphone for months now, but apparently I was the exception to the rule yesterday as the police were out in full force handing out $200 fines to anybody they caught talking while driving with a phone to their ear. The police actually setup a cell phone sting operation on the street where I live! Check out the video above and keep reading to discover hands-free accessories that will work with your smartphone and for your chance to win a hands-free accessory of your choosing from our ShopCrackBerry.com and CrackBerry Canada stores.

Canada Day giveaway - Your choice of SmrtWallet or SmrtCase Glide for BlackBerry - 10 to be won!

SmrtWallet for BlackBerry

A few months back we had the first look at the SmrtCase Glide for BlackBerry, a great case that allows you to carry a few cards (credit cards, ID etc) right on your phone so you never misplace them. I'm a big fan of cases like this that condense my items and make things easier. Next in line is the SmrtWallet, a more refined leather case that lets you hold up to four cards in addition to your BlackBerry. The SmrtWallet holds almost every device and is available in three colors so you can pick one that fits your style. The construction is awesome and this is one case that is sure to hold up over time. The SmrtWallet is available for $29.99 at smrtcase.com. Check out the video below for a quick review.

Contest: We're celebrating Canada Day today (but this contest is open to everyone) and have 10 cases to give away. You can choose from either the new SmrtWallet or SmrtCase Glide. To enter just leave a single comment on this post. Contest ends this Sunday at midnight PDT.
