Although the app has been in beta for a while now, and some of you might already be using it, Spotify has now officially rolled out a lighter and simplified version of their Android app. Dubbed as Spotify Lite, the app is available in 36 markets across Canada, Asia, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa and will work on devices running Android 4.3 and higher.

"Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world's best music experience — especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage," says Kalle Persson, Senior Product Manager at Spotify.

Similar to other available lite apps, Spotify Lite features a smaller base install that comes in at only 10MB and helping to keep your data use in check it also includes the ability to set a data limit and get a notification when you reach it and offers easy control over the ability to clear your cache.

Spotify Lite is available for free and Spotify Premium users and works alongside the core Spotify app if you wish to use the regular Spotify app at home where you possibly don't have to worry about your data plan usage but use Lite while out, using your carrier network for example.
