Skype users should be pleased to see that an update to the app has rolled out over the past 24 hours. As you'll see below, there's a nice selection of enhancements, in particular, the addition of the typing indicator so you can see when someone is typing.

I can't say that I'm a big user of the app, mainly because it's an Android one and not native BlackBerry 10. Most of the time this doesn't bother me, but with Skype I just don't like the notifications, or more the fact that they are too quiet and I can't seem to change that.

Over the years Skype has been the go-to app for keeping in touch with friends and loved ones overseas, but now that BBM is cross platform I find it a much nicer solution for my BlackBerry. Who agrees?

New in this update:

  • Typing indicator to see when someone is typing

  • Avatar picture now follows as you scroll to read longer messages

  • File type icons for shared office documents

  • Send feedback directly from the app (look under 'Settings')
