Extra Juice, No Extra Size Required
Having noticed a steady decline in the performance of my BlackBerry 8800 battery, I decided to give one of the Seidio Extended batteries a try. I had heard good things about them, so I thought it would be worth a shot. I especially liked the fact that Seidio's 1600mAh battery would extend the battery life of my 8800 but not its phyiscal size as it fits under the standard battery cover. In the end, I haven't been disappointed! Read on for my findings!
Just a quick note here. This battery is compatible with the 8800 series. So, if you own an 8800 (like me), a 8820, or 8830, you should be good to go with this Seidio battery.
Out of the Box
The Seidio comes in simple see-through packaging. Pop it open and there is a simple instruction card on the inside of the package. It notes that you should charge up the battery for a good 8 hours first before use. I plugged it in and let it charge for the day.
The card also noted that the battery should increase in performance after 5-6 charges. A battery that improves in performance after you charge it a few times... I like this!
The official verbiage from Seidio:
The Seidio extended battery for the BlackBerry 8830, 8820, or 8800 will give you longer device usability and talk time, which is great for people on the go without access to an external charging alternative.
This battery will give you 10 to 15% more power than the original battery that is shipped with the BlackBerry 8830, 8820, or 8800 and this battery is compatible with the original OEM door.
The battery will not add any extra bulk or thickness to your phone, just added power!
All good points so far. Sounds really good. Will it live up to its billing?
Installation, Use and Performance
Installing the battery is no different than with the default battery. Because the battery is 'OEM' sized, the battery is the exact same size as your old BlackBerry battery and fits nicely behind the OEM door. Before popping the battery into place remember to remove the protective cover around the battery by pulling the 'pull' tab (duh!).
From the first charge on, I did notice a difference. With my old battery I found myself charging up every 2-3 days depending on use. With the Seidio, I've extended that to a good 3-4 days so far. I don't want to jinx things, but so far so good with the Seidio!
Seidio claims a good 15% more power. So far I'd have to say that number is more like 20% to 25%. Not bad at all.
Seidio offers a 6-month (180-day) warranty period. If during that period you feel that the battery is defective, you can email RMA@Seidioonline.com to talk with a Seidio representative. You never know what could happen or go wrong with any product... So this is good to know! If you have a Seidio battery keep this email address on-hand just in case!
All in all, I'd highly recommend a Seidio battery for those of you that only get a day or so out of a battery charge. If you need more power, this is the answer. The Seidio will help eliminate power issues and give you a longer lasting battery that will last for a long time. No more worries about your battery dying on you in the middle of the day...No need to carry a spare battery or charger around with you either. Charge up once and you should be good to go for days!
You can pick a Seidio Extended Battery for the 8800 up in our store for $39.95.
