Making the jump into the consumer space with the introduction of the BlackBerry Pearl was huge for the company (right product at the right time), and following it up with the uber-popular BlackBerry Curve and now newer next-generation devices like the Bold, Storm and Tour have allowed the company to increase its grasp of the growing US smartphone market up to a whopping 56%.
While being #1 is sweet, it's also a tricky position to be in as it's impossible to continue the skyrocketing growth forever.
