Last week, BlackBerry CEO John Chen attended the Milken Global Conference 2016 to take part in the Digital Darwinism: How Companies Can Survive and Thrive in the Digital Age panel. In addition to the roundtable, John Chen also sat down with CNN Money's Cristina Alesci to discuss the smartphone industry, whether BlackBerry is still relevant, and which is more secure — a BlackBerry or an iPhone.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of the questions asked have been asked before, and the comments on the smartphone industry have been reiterated by Chen since BlackBerry announced their Q4 Fiscal 2016 results back in April. But, it's still interesting to hear Chen comment on why he continues to push hardware, especially now that there appears to be a little bit of a refreshed focus coming into play with Ralph Pini being named Chief Operating Officer and General Manager for Devices and Chen confirming two new handsets arriving by the end of the fiscal year.
