These days, distractions are everywhere. It's honestly kind of amazing we ever get anything done! Unfortunately, loathe as I am to admit it, our smartphones are one of the biggest attention-grabbers in our lives.
Think about it. How often are you interrupted by unnecessary notifications and messages? How often does an email or phone call pull you away from the task at hand? How frequently do you find yourself glancing at your phone when you should be focused on work?
Or, perhaps more pressingly, how often have you or someone you know had their phone go off in the middle of an important meeting or call?
Luckily, thanks to Android, the BlackBerry KEY2 and BlackBerry KEY2 LE both have the capacity to automatically enable Do Not Disturb mode based on a pre-established set of criteria. Here's how to set that up.
Setting Do Not Disturb Rules on the KEY2 and KEY2 LE
- Swipe down and tap the Settings gear icon
- Tap "Sound"
- Tap "Do Not Disturb Preferences"
- Configure how strict you want the rules for Do Not Disturb/Priority Only to be. You can also set exceptions for important colleagues, clients, and events.
- Tap Weekend, Weeknight, or Event to add an automatic rule. There are two types of rule - Event and Time. Event rules are tied to your calendar and automatically set your phone to Do Not Disturb during calendar events. Time rules set your device to Do Not Disturb during a specific timeframe.
Once you have all your options configured, that's all there is to it. All the options you set in place will automatically run and you'll end up with fewer notifications and distractions, allowing you to focus on the things that really matter in your life instead of being pulled away by your phone.
