The short answer is — yes! You do need special pens to use Rocketbook. Rocketbook is compatible with Pilot FriXion pens, markers, or highlighters. Do not use any other writing utensil or you run the risk of damaging your Rocketbook. You can easily find Pilot FriXion pens, markers, and highlighters on Amazon.

Rocketbook recommends cleaning your pages every month or so if possible. Note, there may be some light staining on pages where ink has been left down for longer. However, each page is designed to plan things out up to a year in advance, so don't lose sleep over cleaning them less often.

Please note that full page OCR transcription does not work with templated Rocketbook pages found in certain notebooks including Fusion, Panda Planner, and Matrix, or with Rocketbook Beacons whiteboard scans. This feature is available for all Dot-Grid, Lined, and Blank pages in any other Rocketbook notebook.

  • Step 2: Tap Destinations
  • Step 3: Choose email, OneNote, or Google Drive
  • Step 4: Turn OCR Transcription ON

If you're sending your scans to an email destination, you can have your transcription attached to your email as a .TXT file or embedded in the body of your email.

Transcriptions are optimized for letters and numbers, not shapes or diagrams.

That said, you're not going to have a whole lot of luck attempting to transcribe exponential curves, drawing diagrams, or the drawing you made of your pet, you'll just see a lot of gibberish. For now, Rocketbook is just transcribing letters and numbers.
