Digging around the internet today there are plenty of headlines proclaiming the death of RIM. Microsoft rumors, Android rumors, network sale rumors. You name it, someone probably wrote about it by now. However, despite all of those headlines and bad outlook there is still plenty of faith in RIM to be found. RIM employees are still proud of where they work, RIM's hometown of Waterloo still has faith in the company and I'm positive it doesn't stop there. As noted in The Record, many folks spoke about the recent job cuts, RIM's future and what it all means to Waterloo:
“We’d certainly prefer not to see the recent job cuts. However, we are still very confident in RIM’s ability to remain a major player in the global hand-held market place,” Accelerator Centre CEO Tim Ellis said in an email.
“My heart goes out to the employees that are going to be affected,We don’t know how many are going to be affected in our community, but it’s significant for people. It’s our friends and our families and our neighbours . . . I think it’s important that we’re supportive." said Waterloo Mayor Brenda Halloran.
“I think there’s a lot of resiliency in the community,” Regional Chair Ken Seiling said. “I’m optimistic that (RIM) will continue in one form or another.”

At this point, there is no denying that RIM has some major hurdles to overcome. That's stating the obvious. I won't even bother pretending I have the solution for them, I'll leave that to the armchair critics. However; I will say that for a company proclaimed dead by the masses they sure seem to have a lot of fight left in them.
