LinkedIn for BlackBerry 10 being retired on November 27

If you're a LinkedIn user and use their BlackBerry 10 or BBOS app to access the services, you'll have to turn to your web browser to access the services after November 27, 2017, according to an email being sent to BlackBerry LinkedIn users.

We are retiring the existing LinkedIn BlackBerry App on November 27, 2017, which means the app icon will remain on your phone but will no longer work.

You can continue to use LinkedIn on your BlackBerry phone by going to www.linkedin.com from your mobile web browser. From there you'll be able to access the full range of LinkedIn features, some of which were not available on the BlackBerry App.

Thanks for being a part of the LinkedIn community.

Sincerely, The LinkedIn Team

Given the app hasn't been updated since January 27th, 2015, and hasn't worked correctly in months, we won't pretend to be surprised it's being retired. Still, a bit sad to see yet another piece of BlackBerry 10 stroll off into the sunset. Of course, if you're using an Android-based BlackBerry you can continue using the LinkedIn for Android app.

BlackBerry Motion - Top 5 Features I'm Loving So Far!

The newly-announced BlackBerry Motion has made it into my CrackBerry clawing hands and in this video, I dive into first five features that have caught my immediate attention.

Given the similar specs of the phone to the BlackBerry KEYone, the Motion aka KEYnone definitely stands up nicely as a sibling / complimentary device for those who want to go full touch over rocking a physical keyboard. I'll be saving my full first impressions and review until I spend more time with the Motion as my daily driver, but even in using the phone just a little bit there are some immediate features that stand out.

I want you to watch the video though, so hit play and enjoy the show. And be sure to check out the other videos below where I do some durability testing to see how built for everyday life the Motion is.

How to change your chat background image on BBM

Over the past year or so, BBM has gone through many changes visually and one of the most shall we say disliked changes was the addition of a new background image for chats. While some folks didn't mind the cartoony style of it, others, hated it. Luckily, BBM got the feedback loud and clear and the latest BBM update rolling out through Google Play and the App Store brings the ability to change the chat background image. Here's how you can change it!

Seems like yesterday and today were update days at BlackBerry. A new batch of BlackBerry app updates have now been pushed to Google Play and have started appearing on devices. Everything from Hub, to Notes, right down to Power Center has been updated this time around. The majority of the updates simply highlight performance improvements, enhancements and bug fixes but there are a few other things that have been switched around.

BlackBerry Hub

  • Supported integration for Tumblr and QZone accounts
  • Set up a separate email signature for replies and forwards, and add links to email signatures
  • Reply to an email message using an Android Wear watch
  • Improvements for handling Gmail conversation threads (new conversations only)
  • Beta: select S/MIME message hashing algorithm with corresponding admin settings

BlackBerry Calendar

  • Add attachments to calendar events in Exchange ActiveSync 16 accounts
  • Minor enhancements and stability fixes

DTEK by BlackBerry

  • View security patch level
  • Security rating improvements

That's all the items with real changes noted, the rest just simply state bug fixes which can be pretty wide-ranging. Save 30% on your first year of IPVanish's awesome VPN service

If you connect to the internet, you should be using a VPN.

People who care about their privacy (which should be everyone) have begun connecting to a VPN everytime they use the internet, but picking the right VPN provider can be a hard task. There are a ton of services out there, and they range in price from free to $100 or more a year. If you haven't already settled into a VPN, today may be the day that you do that.

Are you using a VPN? Here's why you might consider it!

New customers to IPVanish's service can score a 30% discount on its one-year plan with the coupon code MASKDATA. This discount drops the price down to just $54.59 for the first year, meaning you are only paying around $4.55 a month to keep your browsing more secure.

From the Android Central review of the service:

Not only is IPVanish's Quick Connect menu suitable for novice users, there's also a host of settings in the background that advanced users will love. There are over 850 servers in more than 60 countries, and you'll be using one of 40,000 shared IP addresses. Tack on a lack of log keeping and secure connection protocols, and you have a very strong option.

This deal is good through November 1, so you won't want to wait too long to make the purchase. Be sure to check it out today, and add that extra layer of security while connecting to the internet.

BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition now available from Staples Canada!

The BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition continues to make its rounds to retailers in Canada and now it has arrived at Staples. Pricing for the Black Edition at Staples falls in line with the majority of retailers out there with it being set at $799.99 CAD with free shipping in 3-10 business days.

You'll want to note however, Staples has let it be known the KEYone Black Edition won't be available in stores, so if you're looking to scoop one up, it'll have to be through their website. Also, the specs on the site are listed wrong but the KEYone Black Editon has 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, Staples just goofed like every other retailer who listed it.
