Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Confirms BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 Deployment


BlackBerry has announced that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the largest department in the nation, is currently deploying BlackBerry 10 devices and BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.  The LASD is already and existing BlackBerry customer and will now be moving to BlackBerry 10 to increase the capabilities of their on-the-go devices. Coupling new BlackBerry 10 devices with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 will give the LASD the security they need while still allowing users to get things done.

The QNX Bentley has just taken to the stage at BlackBerry Live and the whole OS is actually running BlackBerry 10. A perfect demo of this was the car receiving a BBM video call from Vivek - clearly this doesn't work while driving!

Is BBM down for you in Asia Pacific?


We've had various reports in that BBM for BlackBerry 10 users is suffering a service interruption over in the Asia Pacific area. It now turns out that legacy BlackBerry smartphones are suffering too. In the CrackBerry forums one user has stated that there is maintenance happening which will be resolved in a few hours - however we are not currently able to confirm this.

ISEC7 offers BlackBerry Readiness Services for BlackBerry 10


BlackBerry announced that they have teamed up with ISEC7 to offer BlackBerry Readiness Services to customers for BlackBerry 10. ISEC7 will offer various services including Change Management and Planning with Migration Services, Change Management and Planning with Remote Installation, and BlackBerry 10 Application Development Services.

As BlackBerry Dev Alpha C devices were rolling out to developers not long ago, it was spotted in BlackBerry 10.1 that BlackBerry was exploring the idea of 'coupon codes' or promo codes as they're now described. As an example of their possible use, developers could give out special codes as part of a promotion so you can get their paid app for free or with an discount just by entering that code.

A new BlackBerry Knowledge Base article has been published that offers up some further details on the matter. More specifically the error codes that are possible in certain scenarios, which in turn offer up a look at how promo codes could be used once made available to everyone:

With BlackBerry 10 now pretty much rolled out to every continent in the world this latest video from BlackBerry goes beyond what I expected to see quite so soon. The good folk of China can (or will) be able to take advantage of a new handwriting input on BBM - and it looks to work perfectly.
