BlackBerry updates their apps in Google Play - Hub, Keyboard,Camera and more

BlackBerry has updated their apps in Google Play for their Android powered smartphones. As usual, BlackBerry pushes an update for most, if not, all their apps in Google Play and this time around is no different. There are new features added, not just your regular bug fixes and improvements and I'm glad to see that the pinch gesture has made its way to the Hub on Android. Read on to see what has been added to each app.

  • Quick filter to unread, snoozed, high importance, flagged or muted messages with a pinch gesture
  • Use Ctrl + Enter to send messages
  • Integration of Viber notification content into the BlackBerry Hub
  • Performance improvements for opening messages and conversations
  • Other bug fixes and performance improvements

BlackBerry Calendar

  • Get suggestions for participants time availability when creating an event in the BlackBerry Calendar
  • Ability to edit calendar events that you have received from other people - edit status, notifications, notes or other fields
  • Other bug fixes and performance improvements

BlackBerry Camera

  • Capture photos in video preview mode
  • Quickly change the video resolution and frame rate in video
  • View real-time values for manual settings (white balance, focus, ISO, etc.)
  • Tutorials and tips manual mode
  • New animations and graphics
  • Usability enhancements and bug fixes

BlackBerry Keyboard

This update includes Chinese input support, a quick way to switch languages and other enhancements:

  • Input support for Pinyin and Cangjie
  • Ability to switch languages with the Space key and shortcuts
  • Ability to change the currency key on the touch screen keyboard
  • Improved prediction and correction: view and edit the list of words that the BlackBerry Keyboard has learned, and correct misspelled words more easily

BlackBerry Password Keeper

Autofill works with the BlackBerry Keyboard to make entering and saving passwords more convenient:

  • Insert login info directly into web pages and apps
  • Save login info from web pages and apps straight to Password Keeper
  • Set different colours for passwords and notes to make it easier to tell them apart
