BlackBerry Priv owners can now get their hands on the July 5 Android security patch. The update is for those who purchased their phones from ShopBlackBerry, Amazon or otherwise factory unlocked and patches the latest set of vulnerabilities. Some people may have already seen this update arrive earlier this week.
This security patch fixes a number of vulnerabilities that are detailed by BlackBerry. Some of them include:
- Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities in Mediaserver
- Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Bluetooth
- Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in NFC
- Information Disclosure Vulnerability in Qualcomm USB Driver

PRIV named one of the most secure Android smartphones of 2016
Google's annual Android Security Review names PRIV one of the most secure smartphones of last year. While rather unsurprising to most of us here, there are some areas of the report that BlackBerry's software efforts receive some substantial kudos.
BlackBerry Priv receiving April security patches
BlackBerry has made the April security patches available to all BlackBerry Priv owners. Those who purchased from ShopBlackBerry have already had this update since March 23, but it is now available from other carriers.
BlackBerry toots its own horn for pushing security updates
BlackBerry has taken to its official blog to pat itself on the back for being able to keep up with pushing security updates to the Priv faster than any other OEM. Since the release of the Priv, BlackBerry has pushed the security update out the same day Google detailed the changes.
BlackBerry Priv March security patch available
The March security patch for the BlackBerry Priv is now available to download. The update weighs in around 17MB and brings some security enhancements to the phone.
