For those of you on the beta build of BlackBerry Password Keeper, you may have noticed a new build appear that only noted 'bug fixes' as the changelog. Turns out, there's a little bit more in the release than just bug fixes as highlighted in the BlackBerry Beta Zone news posting.
If you have a device running Android 8.0 or later, you can now use the new and improved autofill feature with Password Keeper! You can now quickly insert usernames and passwords in apps and websites, without having to type your password every time you sign in.
You can tap a username or password field to use the new autofill feature on Android 8.0 or later. You can still use the autofill functionality via the BlackBerry Keyboard as well. Turn it on now in the Password Keeper Settings (Autofill->Autofill from a username or password field).
Note: Chrome doesn't yet support the new autofill feature on Android 8.0 or later. To use autofill in Chrome, we recommend using autofill via the BlackBerry Keyboard. You can also use the new Password Keeper Android 8.0 autofill feature on a different browser app, such as Firefox Focus.
The update is live right now for those on the beta release. Unfortunately, if you don't have access to the beta you'll have to wait until the public release or download it elsewhere but alas since no BlackBerry is yet running Android 8.0+ Oreo, the new additions won't offer you much outside of the noted bug fixes.
That said, it does seem as though BlackBerry is getting their house in order for Android 8.0. BlackBerry Password Keeper was among one of the few remaining apps for BlackBerry to upgrade.
