According to a new report coming from Reuters, BlackBerry has plans to open a new autonomous driving research center on Monday. The information comes hot on the heels of BlackBerry and Ford signing an agreement for expanded use of BlackBerry's QNX and security software as well as BlackBerry, the University of Waterloo and Erwin Hymer Group being approved by the Ontario Government to test their automated vehicles on Ontario's roads.
The launch of the center, according to the report, will be attended by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as confirmed by the Prime Minister's office, but BlackBerry has thus far declined to offer any comments on the information until Monday. With no comments coming from BlackBerry on the matter, we'll just have to wait and see how this one plays out. Keep in mind, BlackBerry earnings are coming as well. Stay tuned!
