The BlackBerry Security Incident Response Team has now announced they have begun the rollout of the July Android security update for BlackBerry smartphones. Once downloaded and installed, you should see your security patch level change and this time around, it will appear as July 1st, 2017 or later.
In the documentation, BlackBerry notes that the updated software version is available immediately for BlackBerry powered by Android smartphones that have been purchased from Shop BlackBerry but devices purchased elsewhere such as retailers or carriers are dependent on their own deployment schedules.
For the most part, BlackBerry has done great with keeping updates on schedule, but there have once again been a few bumps in the road. The June update has yet to appear for quite a few devices, and the KEYone is still not in line with all the other BlackBerry Smartphones and seems to be on its own schedule for now. So we'll be looking to see if this month BlackBerry can get the update to all applicable devices in a timely manner.
