Quake Listener

For anything and everything you wanted to know about seismic activity around the world, there is Quake Listener. As I currently reside in New York, we rarely experience earthquakes, but if wanted to view important details on events this native application is quite useful. Quake Listener pulls information from the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey). Users are presented with a list of events that occurred during the past day, with the option to switch to another day.

All of the individual events for the current day are listed on the main screen. On the left hand side is the location and Country while the date and time, magnitude, and alert bar are located on the right. By tapping on a single event, the application shows additional details about the earthquake such as position on the map, depth, and geographical coordinates. Using the menus, you can also see the top ten earthquakes, add bookmarks, and find earthquakes with the advanced search feature. This native application is free to download, but in order to access certain pro functions, an in-app purchase of $0.99 is required. It is compatible with all BlackBerry 10 handsets.
