Howdy CrackBerry nation! While Mobile World Congress 2015 may have come to an end there happened to be some exciting news put forth by BlackBerry. Not only did we have a hands-on with the newly announced BlackBerry Leap, but we also saw a brief, blink and you missed it, look at the all new BlackBerry 10 Slider. There was also a mention of an all new Porsche Design device coming in 2015 which is being codenamed "Keian" in honor or Keian Blundell along with one other QWERTY device being noted to arrive this year. With so many new devices planned, the only problem we will have is which one to get!

Now on to the more important topic of the day. It is time to bring you this week's picks for all your passionate BlackBerry addicts out there. You can find each app and game I've rustled up for you by clicking through the gallery below. If your favorite did not make the cut this week, remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

Shot Share by IWIK

First up this week is an application suggested by one of our members. We all know how the BlackBerry 10 system allows for quick and easy sharing of our files. However, sometimes it takes a simple headless application to get things done quicker. The moment a screen shot is taken a notification appears both at the top of the screen and in the Hub. If you tap on the notification at the top of the screen it automatically directs you to the share screen, thereby saving you a few steps. Users can delay the screen shot notification, choose to automatically delete notifications from the Hub, and set whether it will go directly to the share menu on app invoke. In addition to sharing your screen shots it also organizes them. You can view all of your shots at once, select all or multiple shots, and delete them from your device. While we have seen an application such as this with similar functionality, there is nothing wrong with having options. Shot Share is available for $0.99.

Word Brain by Woody Apps

As a self-proclaimed word puzzle addict, I had no choice but to try this game. Now the first thing you will have to do, depending on your device, is adjust the app appearance for it to be suitable by swiping down from the top of the screen. That being said this is part word search, part quiz game, and quite enjoyable. All you have to do is choose from four different forms of play (find 4-letter word, find 5-letter word, find the missing word in a quote, and guess the picture) and you're good to go. The game is free to download and has over 150 levels in each category. If you are looking for a quick game to pass the time then give it a try.

Distant Suns (max) – unleash your inner astronaut by First Light Design, LLC

For those of you who love stargazing, Distant Suns is an easy to use application to explore the stars. The application opens to a vast star map where the screen controls are used to focus on specific objects, constellations, or planets. There are over 130,000 stars, constellations, over 200 galaxies, nebulas, and star clusters for you to see right on the display. Users can quickly set their location from any place on earth or off, change the date and time to show the sky of the past or future, learn stories behind each constellation, and touch anywhere in the sky to view extensive data on each object. Distant Suns is $5.99 in the Amazon Appstore. There is also a version with fewer features for $2.99.

Hook by Megabyte Bomb

For those times you need a simple and relaxing game, there is Hook. This minimal puzzle game may be easy at times but there are certain levels that will keep you staring at the screen trying to solve it. Each level presents users with interconnected lines, switches, and hooks. The object is to clear them all off the screen by tapping on the solid circles to pull back the lines without crossing them. The more intricate the puzzles become it requires you to clear them in a specific order. The one thing to be aware of is that there is no score, no time limits, and it happens to come come with a relaxing soundtrack. Simple at first, it becomes harder to put down as you advance. This brainteaser is available for $0.99 from the Amazon Appstore.

Browsie Browser by Daan Fransen

From the developer that brought us SoundBoard for Doctor Who comes this smooth and easy to use browser. There is nothing wrong with the BlackBerry browser but I enjoy installing third-party alternatives as well. This native version offers opening links in new tabs, ad blocking with updates, bookmarks, useragents, private browsing, export/import, night and reader mode, and the ability to lock the app with the pin. You can find it for $0.99 for all BlackBerry 10 devices.
