Freebies of the Week:
MMAJunkie.com App for BlackBerry

New this week from Handmark comes the MMAJunkie.com app for BlackBerry. MMA, for those that don't know, is short for 'Mixed Martial Arts'. The full-contact sport is growing leaps and bounds, and in my opinion, may knock boxing completely off the map one day. The new MMAJunkie app gives you access to real-time info for the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, Bellator, DREAM, Sengoku and other promotions. Read top stories, event updates, rumors, and even wagering info on upcoming fights. The folks at MMAJunkie developed this one together with the folks at Handmark... check out the OTA download link below to install on your BlackBerry:
Personal Assistant

Want a personal assistant but can't be bothered to go through the whole hiring process, or heck, maybe you just don't want to deal with another person? :) With the Personal Assistant app from Pageonce, you get a whole lot of organization and help, right on your Berry. Use it to control credit card info, bank account status', track investments, track mobile minutes, browse travel itineraries and much more. Personal Assistant has won a lot of awards, and was also named one of TechCrunch's best 35 apps of 2009. Not too shabby.
For more info, check out Personal Assistant in App World >
HSBC HK Business Banking Launcher

Nothing too fancy here. Much like the CrackBerry.com Launcher, the HSBC HK Business Banking Launcher puts a shortcut on your desktop. Hit it and the HSBC Hong Kong commercial banking mobile portal will be loaded into your Berry's browser! It's just a handy shortcut to make use of if you happen to bank at HSBC!

Thomson Reuters News Pro

Can't get enough news? With the Thomson Reuters News Pro app, unleash the power of professional-grade news, right on your Berry. Browse business news, financial news, check the markets, even check out the latest in sports and entertainment. Whatever your interests or curiosities, the Thomson Reuters News Pro app is sure to satisfy your craving for up-to-the-second information.

In Case You Missed It:
Social Business Communicator

Social Business Communicator from the developers at JustPersona is a new (and free) app that lets you use your BlackBerry with LinkedIn! View members, check out profiles and take note of updates. This one is still in beta, and there's a lot of features that are clearly needed, but if you're a big user of LinkedIn, this is certainly worth a look. You should be good to go with this one as long as you're running OS 4.0 or newer.
Check out Social Business Communicator in our store >
GoDaddy Mobile App for BlackBerry

I couldn't help but wonder when GoDaddy was going to come out with an official app for BlackBerry. This past week, it arrived! You can use it to manage your domain names, search for new domain purchases, access mobile mail, manage your email and hosting options, and much more. This is a must have if you manage domains, hosting or anything else at GoDaddy.
Opera Mini 5 Out of Beta

If you're sick of waiting for RIM and their WebKit browser, Opera has taken Opera Mini 5 out of Beta. If another browser sounds of interest to you, I highly suggest giving Opera Mini 5 a look. It promises to speed up your browsing experience, and even save you money by taking advantage of Opera's compression technology... they claim the browser can reduce your data costs up to 90%. Not sure if I believe that, but if you're just a tiny bit curious, head on over to m.opera.com to download OTA.
New This Week
Goal Keep
New from Collaber Solutions, Goal Keep is a neat little utility that helps you keep track of your goals and dreams. The app features a calendar interface, allowing you to enter your goals and tick them off as you complete them. Get organized, accomplish more, and establish new good habits with Goal Keep!
Check out Goal Keep in our store >
Quick Shot
Quick Shot is a handy and easy to use screenshot utility for your BlackBerry. Use it to save as many screenshots as you like to image files on a memory card. All shots are saved in your choice of PNG or JPEG format, and will be stored in your Media Card/Blackberry/Pictures folder. Multiple versions are available depending on your OS... So check it out in our store.
WiFi Meter
Want to know how strong your WiFi signal is? With WiFi Meter, that information is always clearly visible. The app displays a signal strength meter on your home screen, just like your cellular signal strength indicator. Of course, you'll need a WiFi enabled Berry to make use of this, and a minimum of OS 4.6.
You can pick up WiFi Meter for $0.99 in our store >
Cool at BlackBerry App World:
WWF Earth Hour App

Earth Hour is coming up fast on Saturday, March 27 at 8:30PM local time. The whole idea of Earth Hour is to get the world turning off their lights in support of action on climate change. By turning out our lights, believe it or not, we can make a big difference... But it's up to us to all do our small part. The WWF Earth Hour App will keep you connected with news, local events and more. During Earth Hour itself, you can view photos of cities around the world, or even share your own photos of how you're experiencing the hour yourself.
Check out WWF Earth Hour for free in App World >

The slippery slope of AI-written articles has arrived
It was bound to happen sooner or later: artificial intelligence writing articles on major publications. But is it a bad thing, or just the beginning of the next industrial revolution?
