In Case You Missed It...

Just in case you missed these titles, below are some apps that were covered in the CrackBerry Blogs this past week. Check 'em out!

BlackBerry App World Launches in Australia and New Zealand

BlackBerry App World

Awesome news for all of my Aussie and Kiwi friends out there. App World has finally launched in Australia and New Zealand, bringing app goodness to the great folks down there. They've been waiting a while, and they deserve it. From the official press release:

“BlackBerry App World makes it very easy for our customers to discover and download a wide variety of applications for their BlackBerry smartphone,” said Adele Beachley, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, Research In Motion. “BlackBerry App World provides a fantastic new resource and enhanced experience for customers and an equally exciting business opportunity for RIM’s partners.”

Folks in the area that have already downloaded App World, be sure to let us know what you think. If you haven't already given it a spin, you can do so by hitting up www.blackberry.com/appworld or mobile.blackberry.com from your Berry's browser. Happy App shopping!

Seesmic Now Compatible with OS 4.5 Devices

Seesmic Updated
Wasn't long ago that Seesmic updated their Twitter app for Berry's running OS 4.6 or newer. This left good folks around CrackBerry nation wondering when an update would be available for those running 4.5... Thankfully, it's here (keep in mind though the app is still in alpha), so if you're running OS 4.5 and want to pick it up... head on over to the Seesmic mobile site from your Berry. The link? m.seesmic.com.

BerryWeather Updated to 2.0.63

BerryWeather Updated

The developers at Bellshare have updated BerryWeather yet again, and it brings some cool updates that regular users of the app will enjoy. After the update, you can now create your own 'weather slot' theme and tweak the heck out of it. Choose to show or hide all kinds of information including the temperature, conditions, location and much more.

BerryWeather is a great little app if you find yourself checking weather conditions, or depend upon accurate forecasts. It's a bit expensive at $9.95, but those that own it love it.

Citrix Receiver Arriving This Month for BlackBerry

Citrix Receiver for BlackBerry

Citrix has been around for awhile now, offering access to documents from home, or the office... and even the ability to attend online meetings. The service is quite powerful, and for the moment Citrix has iPhone and Win-Mo apps out in the wild. There's even and Android version available for preview in the Android Market. While all this is well and good, it doesn't really please the BlackBerry crowd, right? Recent releases from Citrix have let it be known a BlackBerry app is in the works, an app that will allow for remote connectivity to your PC. Key features of the app will include:

  • Install, login, and work with instant, real-time access to Windows apps and docs hosted in your corporate XenApp environment.
  • Only keyboard input, screen gestures and screen updates traverse the network so that data, like e-mail and intellectual property, remains safe and secure on your company network.
  • Interact with Windows apps and docs using intuitive gestures to zoom, pan, click, scroll and type with ease.
  • Built-in support for Citrix HDX technologies deliver multi-media content including Flash(TM)-based websites and even 3D vector-based graphics.

For more information, check out the Citrix website. You can also pre-register for the Citrix Receiver right here (Looks like initial compatibility will be groovy with the Curve and Bold series only).

Mobile Checkbook 4.0

Mobile Checkbook

Mobile Checkbook version 4.0 is now available in App World. If you need a handy checkbook app built right into your Berry, this is the one to get. Many new features have been added into the update, including:

  • Mark Transactions as 'Cleared' and quickly view your Available Balance vs.
  • Cleared Balance
  • Schedule Recurring Transactions for any account
  • Easily 'Transfer Funds' between two Mobile Checkbook accounts
  • Enable PIN Code Protection for additional security
  • Choose from multiple currencies or add new currencies at any time

If you're OK with throwing down $7.99, you can pick up Mobile Checkbook 4.0 in App World.

New This Week

twast for BlackBerrytwast

Need to blast out some tweets real fast? twast is a native BlackBerry app built to let you do just that... tweet with speed! Launch the app and punch your thoughts in record time. The app is extremely lightweight (bare-bones)... it doesn't feature many of the options you'll find with other popular Twitter clients, but if all you're concerned about is getting tweets out in a fast and timely manner, twast brings the goods. All you need here is a minimum OS of 4.5... Sorry, no Storm compatibility yet.

Check out twast right here >

Note: A free trial is also available.

SearchWordsSearchWords

If you'd like to have one simple app that searches the best search engines out there, SearchWords is a great solution. Use it to easily search Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Wikipedia and more. You can also use it to search synonyms, antonyms and definitions. If you purchase (on sale for $0.99 until December 31st), all upgrades are free... and it should work just fine on all current Berry models running at least OS 4.2.1.

Check out SearchWords >

EasySearchEasySearch

EasySearch is, you guessed it, another search app for your Berry. No need to pop open your browser and navigate to your search engine of choice to run your query. Pop open EasySearch, enter your search, and that's it... Your web browser will open and results will appear magically before your eyes. Assigning this one to a convenience key will assure quick and easy access next time you need to do a search! A minimum of OS 4.5 is required... sadly no Storm compatibility is available on this one... yet.

EasySearch is available for $0.99 >

Xmas 2009 ThemeXmas 2009 with Magic Theme

OK, fine, I lied. I said I wasn't going to touch on anything Christmas, but I couldn't help when I noticed this one. The Xmas 2009 with Magic theme is available for all current Berry devices, and brings a warm and nostalgic Christmas-sy feel to your Berry. All icons, system menus and notifications have been redesigned with a decidedly awesome Christmas flavor. Your app icons will sit nicely upon a bookshelf, the power and signal meters feature snowflake shapes... Heck, just give it a looksee to learn more.

You can pick up the Xmas 2009 with Magic Theme for $4.99 in our store >

Reply StormReply Storm

If you're an active blogger, designer, or simply take a lot of photos, Reply Storm is an ideal app to give you feedback on your work. All you need to do is pop open the app, input the URL, and Reply Storm does its magic to ensure that real people visit the URL, and leave feedback for you. Responses arrive via email. Upon opening Reply Storm for the first time, you'll receive one free priority session (over 12 responses guaranteed).

For more info check out Reply Storm in our store >

Vorino TimerVorino Timer

Received a note from Paul at Vorino earlier this week. He tells me that the Vorino Timer app for the Storm2 has been updated with some new features. Use it as a timer or stopwatch, view analog and digital displays... There are too many features in this app to list here, so if you own a Storm2 and would like to check it out, you can do so here. The Storm1 is not 'officially' supported yet due to UI issues with the OS.

Non-Touchscreen Berry users can also pick up an updated Vorino Timer right here.

Note: Both versions will run you $7.99.

Cool at BlackBerry App World:

Superpages Mobile

Superpages Mobile

Released back at the beginning of this month, Superpages Mobile from Idearc Media adds 'the power of Superpages.com to your BlackBerry'. Use it to find businesses, people, get maps and directions, local movie and theatre details, check the weather, hunt for local WiFi hotspots in your area,  and a whole lot more. There's a lot jammed into this one, and best of all... it's free.

To check Superpages Mobile out for yourself, hit it up in App World. Again, it's a freebie, so give it a spin... You might like it.

Freebie of the Week:

Kisses

Kisses for BlackBerry

New from the developers at ZenConsult, 'Kisses' is an awesome tool used to help you detect and reveal spyware on your BlackBerry. But besides that handy feature, Kisses will also show you a list of all running processes and a list of hidden processes. If you're Berry is 'on the fritz', it may be time for a wipe, but it'd also be handy to check the device for any malicious processes. All that is required here is OS 4.2.1, and yep.. it's free.
