BlackBerry may be hitting the headlines for reasons we don't like at the moment, but it's still a positive sign that some of the biggest developers in the world are still backing BlackBerry 10. Rovio is one of them - who brought us the Angry Birds titles, and now they have followed up with bringing Bad Piggies to our platform.
The game is totally different to Angry Birds and in my opinion an darn sight more challenging. I may just be saying that as I'm not very good at it but due to its success on other platforms it's sure to be a huge hit.
The aim of the game is to get the piggies to the eggs, but in order to do this there is none of that catapult business going on - this time you need to make a type of flying machine/kart to propel the piggies to the eggs. Luckily, on each level you can get a clue how to build the kart for that particular level and there's a ton of variation.
So once you start a level you will have a selection of items at your disposal to build with. Clearly, wheels and boxes are going to be present in most levels but you will also encounter a selection of devices to propel you. These range from TNT, fans and pressure tanks, which must be positioned just in the right place and orientation to get you to the end of the level. Some levels require a bit of trial and error as you'll need to not always use full power - but luckily you have a tab to control the boost of your kart.
As with Angry Birds, at the end of each level you will be presented with up to three stars. I am either totally rubbish at the game or I'm missing something as I can't get three stars on any level! I suspect I'm just useless though.
As with previous Rovio titles the game play is glorious, the graphics and sound effects are top notch and it has that addictive quality. The game is priced at a reasonable £0.75/$0.99 and is available for all BlackBerry 10 smartphones. This one is sure to be a roaring success.
Features of Bad Piggies include:
- 140 levels crammed with flying/driving/crashing fun!
- 36 additional levels unlocked by getting three stars!
- 8 sandbox levels to stretch your creativity!
- Ultra-special, ultra-secret, ultra-difficult sandbox level to unlock by collecting ten skulls!
- 36 objects to create the ultimate machine: motors, wings, fans, bottle rockets, umbrellas, balloons, and much more!
