BlackBerry Motion now available to pre-order from Carphone Warehouse

When the BlackBerry Motion was announced at GITEX, BlackBerry Mobile noted it would be coming to select markets and now, thanks to the latest announcement, we know the UK falls into those select markets.

Folks in the UK looking to get their hands on the BlackBerry Motion can now pre-order the first BlackBerry smartphone to offer IP67 water and dust resistance from Carphone Warehouse starting today for only £399 with delivery expected November 10.

In addition to the pre-orders set up through Carphone Warehouse, later in November, the BlackBerry Motion will also be available from Selfridges, John Lewis, Dixons Travel, Currys PC World, Amazon, Very and Littlewoods in the UK.

The latest news has BBM teaming up with HotelsCombined to offer BBM users the ability to search and book their next vacation or business accommodation without leaving BBM.

Although the BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition has been hanging around a small number of retailers for a while now if you've been holding off for Amazon, your wait is over. Amazon Canada has now listed the Black Edition for all. Unlike CDW, which set the pricing insanely high, Amazon has theirs listed at $799.99 CAD which falls in line with Blueshop and right now they're currently showing the device in stock and ready for shipment.

Watch BlackBerry QNX's autonomous vehicle drive on Canadian public roads for the first time!

Sticking to their plans to have autonomous vehicles officially hit the road in Ontario in 2017 following the launch of the automated vehicle (AV) pilot program in Canada, BlackBerry QNX's autonomous vehicle has now hit public roads in Ottawa for the first time while also being connected to public infrastructure. The vehicle used for the occasion was BlackBerry QNX's self-driving Lincoln MKZ, which was previously used at CES on test tracks.

On hand for the event was Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, Councilor Marianne Wilkinson, and John Wall, General Manager at BlackBerry QNX. On Jan. 1, 2016, Ontario became the first province in Canada to create a pilot regulatory framework to test automated vehicles on its roads and BlackBerry QNX, along with many partners such as The University of Waterloo, PolySync, Erwin Hymer Group, Renesas Electronics and more have heavily invested in autonomous vehicle research through such initiatives as the BlackBerry QNX Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Centre (AVIC).
