How to take a screenshot on the BlackBerry Motion

How do you take a screenshot on the BlackBerry Motion? Just follow these steps!

The BlackBerry Motion follows the same method of taking a screenshot as other Android-based BlackBerry devices. Very simply, this involves pressing the volume down key and the power key at the same time. It can be used on any screen to capture whatever is displayed as a separate image file. That image file can then be saved for later reference or shared to others.

How to take a screenshot of the BlackBerry Motion

  1. Open the app you want to screenshot and go to the exact screen you want to capture.
  2. Press and hold the Power key and the volume down key on the right side. Be sure to not use the textured convenience key, which is just below the power key.
  3. The screen will flash white, you'll hear a sound effect, and the screenshot will be saved to the Screenshots directory.

How to view screenshots on the BlackBerry Motion

  1. Open the Photos app. It can be found in the Google folder on the home screen by default, or in the full apps list after you tap the grid button in the middle at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Scroll to the Screenshots subheading. Tap the number at the end of the thumbnails to view more than the last seven.
  3. Screenshots will also show up in the notification tray once you've taken them. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the thumbnail to view the image, or tap the Share or Delete buttons.

From the Photos app, you can freely share, delete, edit, or view the file details. Your screenshot will show up as an option across many apps that let you send images, like Messenger or Instagram, though you can share to those apps from Photos as well.

Introducing GameStash, the best new way to get unlimited Android games!

A great new Android gaming service from the people at Mobile Nations!

The beautiful GameStash app

Android gaming is too often a toss-up. You download a game from the Play Store and hit one of two obstacles: the game is plain bad, and you wasted your time; or it doesn't run on your phone, and you, well, wasted your time. And then there's the third option, of paying for a game you may not like — or waiting months until it goes down in price.

These are all not ideal situations. GameStash is ideal.

What is GameStash?

Think Netflix for Android games, but with a few smart twists. For $4.99 per month, you get access to hundreds of excellent Android games, both free and paid, that you can download and play as long as you're a subscriber.

Games like Rayman Jungle Run, Cut the Rope, Talking Tom Gold Run and Worms — fantastic titles that you'd either need to pay for, have ads or in-app purchases from the Play Store — are available for free with a GameStash subscription.

Just download the app

You start with the GameStash app, which is your portal to the entire ecosystem. It acts as your app store, your guidebook, and your instruction manual to great gaming experiences.

The only thing you need to do is follow the instructions to enable unknown sources — apps that are downloaded from outside the Google Play Store — to make it work. If you've ever downloaded the Amazon Appstore, you'll be familiar with how it works.

Once that's enabled, downloading a game to your phone is as simple as tapping the 'Install' button!

It couldn't be easier!

So tell me about the games

Here's the beautiful thing about GameStash. These are not just any games: they're hand-selected from our team of discerning gamers. While the range of titles is broad, appealing to both you and your kids, they are all great titles.

The best thing about them is that there are no in-app purchases! Some of the games you can download from GameStash are free to download on the Play Store, but they're better on GameStash because we've made everything free. No more worrying about scrounging for gems or coins, or waiting hours for your next turn. We've done all the hard work to make sure these games are incredible experiences for every player.

That's why GameStash is so appealing — especially to kids. You won't be bugged to approve dozens of in-app purchases while at work, nor will you have to explain why your kid needs to wait eight more hours to build that next tower. It just works.

And we're adding more games all the time! If you want to see a game added to the list, let us know and we'll do our best to get it on there. It may take some time, because each game in our vault requires a bit of fine-tuning to get just right, but the wait will be worth it.

What was that price again?

So, $4.99 per month for access to hundreds of premium titles that don't require any additional in-app purchases. That's a pretty amazing deal, and something we stand behind.

We want you to try GameStash for free to see if it's right for you! Right now, download and install GameStash and try it free for 14 days.

Have fun!

We want you to have fun with GameStash, because we think it's one of the best services of its kind out there. We'd love to hear your feedback so we can make it even better going forward!

How to transfer your photos from iPhone to Android

Love taking pictures? Google Photos will be your new best friend!

In years past, it was a giant pain to move photos from one platform to another. Photos were stored locally on your device and that is where they stayed. You could offload them somewhere to back them up (like iPhoto or Dropbox) but there wasn't any super easy way to get them from one place to another.

Well now, there is just that — a super easy way to get your photos from your iPhone to Android device in just a few quick steps.

How to uninstall or disable applications on the BlackBerry KEYone

The BlackBerry KEYone may have some apps you don't intend to use — here's how to disable them!

While the BlackBerry KEYone doesn't have nearly as much bloatware as many other top phones, it may still have some apps that you don't intend to use. Many apps — including those you installed yourself — can be uninstalled fully, but some others can still be disabled even if they (technically) remain on the device itself. Here's how to make it happen!

How to Disable or Uninstall Apps on the BlackBerry KEYone

  1. Swipe down from the top of the home screen and tap the gear icon to enter your settings.

  2. Scroll down and tap Apps

  3. Tap the app you wish to uninstall or disable, then tap either DISABLE or UNINSTALL.

That's all there is to it! System apps won't give you the option to uninstall, so you'll only be able to disable those if they aren't in use. Always be careful of what you choose to disable however as some apps may be required for certain functions on your device.

How to transfer your iCloud Drive files to Google Drive

Keep it in the cloud — just a different cloud!

If you're all-in with Apple, you've most likely been using iCloud Drive (to some extent) to store docs in the cloud. When making the move to Android, iCloud Drive is unfortunately no longer an option, so you'll have to move anything you want to keep over to Google Drive so it's available on your Android device.

As with most transfer processes like this — yes — it's a pain. But the good news is we're here to help ease the pain.

How to disable and deactivate iMessage before switching to Android

Forgetting to disable iMessage can turn out to be a real pain — so turn it off before you make the switch!

Before switching from iPhone to Android, one of the most important things you'll want to do is disable iMessage (providing you're using it in the first place of course). iMessage doesn't work on Android, so it's one of the things you'll need to leave behind when changing platforms. While you can do it after you make the switch, it's waaayyyy easier to do it beforehand to prevent and issues down the road.

You can disable iMessage on your current device in just a few quick steps — here's how to do it:

How to use Picture Password on the BlackBerry KEYone

Picture Password is a security feature that many BlackBerry users love — and it's still available on the BlackBerry KEYone. Keep in mind that you'll also need to set up a primary screen lock if you haven't done so already.

How to use Picture Password on the BlackBerry KEYone

  1. Swipe down from the top of the home screen and tap the gear icon.

  2. Tap Security, then Picture Password. You'll then be asked to confirm your pattern, PIN or password.

  3. Tap the toggle to turn on Picture Password. Then tap continue on the next screen.

  4. Choose a photo that will serve as your picture password (you can always change this later). Then choose a number.

  5. Now drag the circled number to a specific spot on the picture (this will be your password so don't forget where you put it!) then tap continue. Confirm the placement, then tap continue again.

  6. Now you'll be asked to test your password. Do so by dragging your chosen number to the secret spot. Tap finished.

Done! You can now use picture password on your BlackBerry KEYone for a quick, fun and one-handed way to unlock your phone!

How to setup Android Pay on the BlackBerry KEYone

Android Pay is an amazing feature that lets you tap your phone to a credit terminal rather than using a physical card

Android Pay is a virtual wallet that lets you store your credit and debit cards and use them to make purchases as NFC-enabled terminals. Rather than using your physical card, you simply hold your phone near the terminal to pay for your purchase. It's quick and easy and only takes a few minutes to setup!

How to Setup Android Pay on the BlackBerry KEYone

  1. If you haven't already, download Android Pay from the Google Play Store.

  2. Turn on NFC by going to Settings > More > NFC and tapping the toggle to enable NFC.

  3. Open the Android Pay app and follow the setup instructions. You may need to enable a PIN, password or pattern if you haven't already.

  4. To add a card to Android Pay, tap the + on the bottom right, then choose the card type.

  5. Use the camera to capture the card info, or enter it manually. If asked to verify the card, choose a method from the provided list and then enter the code you receive. Keep in mind that in some cases you may need to verify by calling your bank or using your bank's app

  6. To make a payment using Android Pay, simply unlock your device and hold it next to a compatible payment terminal. Your device will vibrate and you'll see a confirmation if the payment was successful.

Android Pay is an extremely useful tool as it allows you to pay using just your phone. Granted, it won't work at every terminal, but it's becoming more widely adopted around the world. You can add multiple credit and debit cards, as well as loyalty and gift cards, helping to keep you organized and slim down your wallet!

How to use custom views on BlackBerry Hub with KEYone

Custom views in the Hub for Android can take your BlackBerry KEYone to the next level by giving you better filtering of your multiple communication streams.

Custom views are essential to maximize your use of the BlackBerry Hub on Android. You can setup custom views to refine your viewing experience within the app and organize your inbox more effectively.

You can assign key channels like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to a Social view for example, or you could fold multiple work emails into a Work view. This helps keep things in the right place and easily accessible so your critical work email doesn't get lost during the influx of new Instagram likes coming from your BlackBerry KEYone's awesome selfie camera.

BlackBerry Hub already allows you to look at individual account notifications on a per account basis. Custom views save you time; instead of jumping between three different Twitter accounts you could set an umbrella Twitter custom view to get a look at all those notifications in one list.

Setting Custom Views BlackBerry Hub with KEYone

  1. Launch BlackBerry Hub.
  2. Swipe from the far left to the right to pull out the side menu.
  3. Tap the + Add View option at the top right.
  4. (You can also create custom views in the BlackBerry Hub settings under Views.)

  5. At the top Enter View Name.
  6. Under Accounts select the rounds you want to display in the custom view.
  7. In addition, you can set filters for: Unread, Flagged, High Importance, Attachments and From.
  8. Once set hit the gray Check icon at the top left.
  9. Your Custom View is now sorted at the top of your Hub side menu.

Bam! You're ready to go. You should now have a custom view setup to help keep yourself organized. Get more out of your KEYone by investing some time to maximize the software experience.

How to get the most out of the Hub on the BlackBerry KEYone

Get the most out of Hub on the BlackBerry KEYone with this guide to some of the most useful BlackBerry Hub for Android features.

If you're just getting started with the BlackBerry Hub on Android or are a longtime user this guide will help walk you through some of the strongest features and customizations to help you get the most out of your new BlackBerry KEYone smartphone. The finer customizations listed in this overview can be accessed within the BlackBery Hub application settings.

Keyboard Shortcuts

BlackBerry Hub for Android is built to interact directly with the physical keyboard on the BlackBerry KEYone. Here are some of the keyboard shortcuts you can use to maximize your efficiency. Initiate the following actions while in the Hub message list:

  • C = Compose
  • S = Search
  • T= Move to Top
  • B = Move to Bottom
  • N = Next Date Header
  • P = Previous Date Header
  • U = Next Unread Message

Unified Social

Your BlackBerry Hub can support over a dozen different social app integrations. Download and install your favorite social apps like Instagram or Skype and Hub+ Services will prompt you to integrate the account into the Hub. Seamless social! Here are the different accounts that you can add to your BlackBerry Hub.

  1. Twitter
  2. Facebook
  3. Facebook Messenger
  4. LinkedIn
  5. Whatsapp
  6. BBM
  7. Instagram
  8. Pinterest
  9. Slack
  10. Skype
  11. Viber
  12. WeChat
  13. Line
  14. Kik
  15. Telegram
  16. Google Hangouts

Swipe Gesture Actions

Turned on by default swiping left or right on a message within the BlackBerry Hub for Android will invoke a predefined action. For example, swiping to the left will delete the message from your BlackBerry Hub and swiping to the right will snooze the notification. You can do some interesting things with the snooze feature, like getting up a geo-target for snoozed notifications to pop back into the Hub when you make it to the office, connect to your home Wifi and other advanced options you can tweak in the BlackBerry Hub general settings.

Custom Views

If you manage multiple email accounts on one device BlackBerry Hub lets you set up custom views where you can aggregate your accounts down to separate views within the app. If you have 20 accounts installed on the device but for work only need to access four, you could easily setup a "Work" custom view to filter out all the noise so you can stay focused on the email and messages that matter most. You can setup a "Social" view so only Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn notifications can be seen and so forth.

Checkout this handy help and how to for details on setting up a custom view within the BlackBerry Hub.

Pinch Gesture Action

With hundreds of messages hitting your inbox the built in Pinch Gesture is a great way to consolidate down longer lists of email and notifications clutter down to a more organized set. By default, the pinch gesture is set to "Unread" when you pinch on a list within BlackBerry Hub the list will collapse down and show only Unread messages. In the settings you can modify this gesture to show Snooze, Unread, Flagged, High Importance and Muted conversations to tailor the experience to suit your needs.

Hub Widget

BlackBerry added widget support to the BlackBerry Hub on Android giving users additional ways to interact with the Hub. You can effectively pin a large widget to a page on your device and always have the Hub a swipe away or you can utilize the Pop-up widgets built into the BlackBerry Launcher to flick on the BlackBerry Hub icon with three dots below. The three dots indicate the application supports a widget and the widget can be invoked with the flick gesture on the all icon. This functionality is a quick way to peek into applications and check to see if there are new notifications or updates for you to interact with.

Hub Attachments

At the top of the BlackBerry Hub for Android app, there is a paperclip icon that is extremely useful. Tapping this icon loads an "Attachments" view where you get a reverse chronological list of all the recent attachments you've been sent across all integrated email accounts. This is helpful for quickly pulling up collaborative word documents or .PDFs for resharing with colleagues. You can even filter the attachments view down further and organize the list by date, sender, and file name.

Dark Theme

If looking at white screens all day hurts or eyes or if you just prefer the dark visual aesthetic you can jump into your BlackBerry Hub settings and enable Dark Theme. Go Settings > General Settings and under Display there's an option to toggle Dark Theme on and off. Dark Theme will go across the entire Hub experience from the accounts screen to your conversation threads. It's a dark Grey backdrop and text is flipped to White for easier viewing.

*Note: Enabling Dark Theme does not extend to the BlackBerry Hub Widget which will remain at its default white only configuration.

Account Color Organization

You can learn how to add an email to the BlackBerry Hub or get help with merging Exchange ActiveSync with the BlackBerry Hub by hitting the links above. What you'll notice within those breakout guides is a step that includes setting up an account color to your various email accounts. When adding email once you've synced your credentials to the BlackBerry Hub you can also set an account color by tapping on the search at the end of your email setup process. This is handy to give you a visual on message designation for different accounts. You can keep work email on brand or even setup family email to your favorite color. However, you may choose to use this the colors will work on both the light and dark theme Hub display settings.
