BlackBerry Classic and OS 10.3 arriving later this year

In case you missed the fine print in today's earlier post about the OS 10.3 SDK, there were a few things that should be noted to clear up any confusion. While we all anxiously await the arrival of OS 10.3 and all that comes along with it, we won't be seeing it for a few more months still — but it won't be limited to just new BlackBerry devices.

CrackBerry Asks: What do you think of the BlackBerry Z3?

The BlackBerry Z3 has been officially unveiled and will be hitting Indonesia in just a few days. The Z3 is an inexpensive, full-featured BlackBerry 10 device that Indonesian users are sure to love, and while it doesn't have the high-end specs of the BlackBerry Z30 or BlackBerry Z10, it's still a great little device. It's durable, has a great screen and the battery is big enough to keep it going for days. It runs the same BlackBerry 10 OS as the other devices too, so it's not like the Z3 loses out on software at all either.

BlackBerry has 4 new devices in the works, no wearables in sight

BlackBerry unveiled the new BlackBerry Z3 in Jakarta earlier today, and in addition to showing off the latest device, CEO John Chen also dropped word on what is (and isn't) on the current roadmap. In addition to the BlackBerry Classic which we should see later this year, BlackBerry also has a few more new devices in the works — both full-touch and keyboard.

There are still plenty of rumors about what new devices we'll see from BlackBerry, the biggest of which is the BlackBerry Windermere. Chen said that working with Foxconn, we could see a new high-end, flagship device as well.

BlackBerry officially unveils the BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta Edition

"Why I hate the BlackBerry Store"

In case you missed it, our buddy J_Caloy recently took a trip to Dubai as part of the BlackBerry University Power Tour. While there, he checked out the flagship BlackBerry retail store and everything that it has to offer — and needless to say, he wasn't impressed. In the sea of not only basic black devices — but also plenty of colors — he just couldn't grasp why there were such great Dubai exclusives.

Check out the video to see why JC hates the BlackBerry store, then be sure to swing by the forums and let us know what you think! What I want to know is what's in that box??

Press Release: Strategy Analytics Recognizes BlackBerry as the Lowest TCO Multi-Platform Enterprise Mobility Management Solution

BlackBerry has announced today that BES10 is the most cost-effective MMS for enterprise, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. The report found that BES10 had the lowest total cost of ownership over a 5 year periods, and that migrating from BES5 to a BlackBerry competitor is more than double the cost over five years than migrating from BES5 to BES10. The report also noted that the "all inclusive" nature of BES10 provides a large cost savings over the TCO period.

Leaked OS 10.2.1.3175 for the BlackBerry Z3

Yesterday we saw OS 10.2.1.3175 hit the streets for most BlackBerry 10 devices, and today we can add one more to the mix — the BlackBerry Z3. Even though the Z3 has yet to be made available officially, we're sure that some of you are sneaking around with them and keeping your lips sealed. To help enjoy those pre-release devices — or for those looking to break down the Z3 OS — it's here for the taking.

Those ugly boxed icons are no more on BlackBerry OS 10.3

Ask and ye shall receive. Our good friend Michael Clewley is back with some more OS goodies on his BBM Channel today, now with a look at what will be the OS 10.3 homescreen. Word on the street is that we'll be seeing plenty more in the way of OS 10.3 news from Michael's channel, so this is just the first of many peeks at the latest BlackBerry OS.

Courtesy of lengend in the CrackBerry forums, OS 10.2.1.3175 is now available to download for the BlackBerry Z30, with other devices to follow in short order. This one is hot off the press so we don't know what's good, bad or ugly, so if you do fire it up be sure to swing by the forums and let us know what you find out.

Accessory Roundup - Enter to win a photography accessory for your BlackBerry!

I know we're all still feeling a bit burnt buy the crappy camera on the Bold 9900 (I am at least), but the BlackBerry 10 devices actually have some pretty solid camera action when it comes down to it. I've been able to snag some awesome shots on my Z30, and that almost makes up for all of the busted ones I snagged on my 9900.

Accessory Roundup - Leave a comment and you could win a new Bluetooth speaker for your BlackBerry!

Another one of my go-to accessories for summer is a solid Bluetooth speaker. I love my Sonos when I'm indoors, but when I head out to the patio I don't have anything wired up, so I bring along my BlackBerry and a speaker to spread the tunes. There are plenty available — from the ever-portable BlackBerry Mini Speaker to the pumped-up sound of the SuperTooth Disco Bluetooth Stereo Speaker. No matter what your pleasure, we've got one to suit your music listening needs.

CrackBerry Asks: Are you using BBM stickers?

I have been loving the new stickers in BBM lately. I may or may not be more annoying than normal with my messages, but I actually love throwing stickers in my conversations — even more so than just using emoticons. They add a new level to BBM and are a welcome addition in my book. I didn't think that I'd be a big fan, but I think they're a fun way to add some flair to messages.

On the flip side though, I do think that there is still some work to be done. There's still a few things that need to be addressed to keep BBM and stickers up to par with the other big IM services.

John Chen: BlackBerry isn't selling or leaving the handset business any time soon

Last night some stories were floating around stating that BlackBerry CEO, John Chen would "consider dumping" the handset business if that portion of the company remains unprofitable. Fact of the matter is, that's not the case — "my comments were taken out of context," he says.

Chen says he has no intention of selling off the handset business, and that the focus of the company is trying to make the business profitable.

Over 60% of CrackBerry readers want the ability to theme BlackBerry 10

One of the things I miss about BlackBerry 7 devices is the ability to change up the theme. With BlackBerry 10, I sometimes get bored with the look and wish I could change things up like on old devices. I have a bit of "wallpaper OCD" so instead of changing themes, I find myself constantly changing my wallpaper to keep things fresh — and it seems that I'm not alone.

BlackBerry Kopi gets comparison photos with Q5

We've seen quite a bit of the unreleased BlackBerry Kopi over the last few weeks, and again today it has turned up in some shiny new images. This time around the Kopi isn't flying solo, rather it's standing in side-by-side with the BlackBerry Q5 for a bit of comparison.
