While on stage for the BlackBerry 10 Jam keynote, Alec Saunders, Vice President Developer Relations and Ecosystem Development at Research In Motion revealed some numbers for BlackBerry App World. As it stands, there is now 99,500 apps available within BlackBerry App World, 25 percent of which have specifically been built for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Saunders took this time to note the fact that developers are not in all actuality leaving the platform en masse but rather, there is a resuragnce of developers taking on the BlackBerry Platform especially now that RIM is making waves with the most recent BlackBerry 10 announcements.

BlackBerry App World storefront rebranded to BlackBerry World
With the addition of videos and music when BlackBerry 10 launches, the original name 'BlackBerry App World' no longer fits. As such, RIM has begun the process of re-branding their storefront. As announced at BlackBerry Jam Asia in Bangkok, Thailand, BlackBerry App World will from here on out be known as BlackBerry World. A small yet, fitting change.
