Yelp for BlackBerry

Hey BlackBerry Yelpers, you will be happy to hear that the Yelp app for BlackBerry just got a huge overhaul bringing more features and functionality. The design has been updated, but that's not all. Now you can sign in to your Yelp account, draft a review, add quick tips, take and upload photos, and check in to businesses. This is all in addition to the already existing features.

  • Search for businesses near you
  • Select quick links to find nearby bars, restaurants, cafes and more
  • Narrow your searches by price and what s open now
  • Browse reviews to read what s great  and not so great  in your city
  • Look up addresses and phone numbers for thousands of businesses, then call or map them from your BlackBerry
Yelp is a free app and available for all BlackBerry smartphones. Check it out today, but don't be surprised if you start yelping.

Yelp for BlackBerry updated to v2.0

It worked for me here in Southern Illinois (South of Interstate 64, not South of the Cook County line). It did show a few places that i know that are now closed.

The nearby feature is broken.. It can't detect my location. Looking at the comments in AppWorld, it shows the same for others! Fix this bug Yelp!

Wouldn't work for me initially. Then I did some searches but entered my city instead of "use current location." Thereafter, for some reason, it's been working fine.

The reason to upgrade is that the last version was worthless- it only returned reviews but there was no way to interact with the whole yelp experience. Now you can check in, earn "dukedoms," and most importantly you can write reviews. You could do none of these before, on the bb app or the site.

Oh, speaking of mobile sites and check-ins... there is no Google+ app for BB (yet, not for the 9900 at least) but on the mobile version you can check in, post status updates, and follow threads by "circle." It would be great if all mobile sites (if we're not going to get proper apps) worked like this and yelp absolutely did not, so hooray for this update.

Everything works for me. It is slow opening at start up. But other than that, I see all the places in my hometown (Central Valley California in between Fresno and Modesto). I can check in as well. The only thing missing is the camera viewing option (or maybe I'm just not seeing it). On Iphone and Droid phones, you can use this viewing option to see visually what's around you. This was a feature that I really wanted, but did not see in this update. So I hope to see it soon...

i cant get my app world to recognize the update? i can see it on the web version of app world. but i can only pull up v1.3 on my bb. i was running an older version of 2.0 and upgraded to the newest 3.0 beta to see if it would solve the problem, and ive done multiple alt+RST resets but no luck, any ideas?
