They should turn it over to the open source world, so that we can finish it!!!

I guarantee the users would have made it 10x's better than the developers would have. I have always noticed when end users take hold of something, the product always turns out better than originally released. (c:
Oh well ...

I would say the entire smartphone world trumps the iphone. Not that I use yahoo for anything anymore. Dumped them years ago when gmail allowed pop3/IMAP services for free.

The problem is that Blackberries aren't even a single platform. You have to have different clients for the different models and screen resolutions.

For many developers that's a lot of resources wasted on tailoring the same product across one single line.

Plus, this is where the one-stop Apple App Store/iTunes Store beats the daylights off of the myriad of stores that other phones (including Blackberry) use for distribting their programs. The Blackberry App Store still has a long way to go towards being user friendly, plus there are still other stores (like Crackberry) that segment the market.

Apple's walled garden approach can be a pain in the tail, but it does a good job in providing a single-point-of-entry for both customers and developers.

Open source and broad-scale development often lead to open messes and broad-scale cancellations for software.

It's too bad, I used Yahoo Go for checking email quickly and Flickr. It was overkill for just those two things but it was convenient. Guess another reason to slowly move away from Yahoo.

Wow. Stopping developement for the BlackBerry and any other SmartPhone. But keeping it going for iPhone. Thats because the Iphone is NOT a smartphone :)

"for browsers and iPhone" ...

No BB love from Yahoo!

Let us, the BB nation come together and ditch yahoo like they ditched us, and see who hurts more! When their stock drops, they'll change their minds, no?

I abandoned yahoo years ago.

I am currently using Beejive for all my messaging (Yahoo, Gtalk, MSN, ICQ) but it seems to me that Beejive drains the battery pretty bad so I am in the market for a better messaging client.

that was a stupid decision of Yahoo to discontinue this project, since we all were waiting for Yahoo Go! to launch on Blackberry Devices.

im thinking about migrating to Google since they are doing better job specially with mobile devices in general and Blackberry specifically

Perhaps if the BB App World was remotely appealing to users...but as it stands App World is slow, expensive, and lacks variety. Whereas the Apple App Store has a nice interface, lots of free apps, and tens of thousands to choose from. It's going to be a while until BB App World becomes a success.

Read this somewhere that they are replacing the APP with a web based system at the following address. I can't access it with my Curve, but I can with my PC.

I went to the site from my bb storm. It actually looks and responds very well. They have some social placeholders for Facebook and twitter, etc but I can't seem to access my content.

As others, I left yahoo long ago and never looked back. Out of all, what I consider, the 3 major emails (yahoo/hotmail/gmail)I hope yahoo just fades away and busts. I also hope google does not attempt to merge or buy them out. It just seems to me that yahoo has lost all contact with people that use them. Where google or a little bit of microsoft are attmepting to supply customers with what they want or like. Hey, that's just my opinion.

I myself have also slowly been moving away from Yahoo. I have had an email account with them fo I do not know how long, I think it was my first email account. Now all I use are the Groups and email. I tried other things but they failed on the BB so I do lots now with Google. I just wish getting to the groups was easier on the bb or that google had some of the groups as I have made many friends with some of the groups there and have yet to find any on google.

What is this "Yahoo" you speak of?

:)

Posted by webchetan Tuesday, May 19, 2009 1102 days ago

Yahoo sucks as if. Good they backed out early. Gmail rocks and as per email Yahoo and Hotmail can't even come close to Google Mail (Gmail) Anyways iPhone sucks too :) and above all Storm is better than the iPhone. I am waiting for Storm 2 now :)

Oh btw I have the 8900, and I would not give it away for stupid iPhone.

Honestly the only thing still tying me to yahoo is flickr. If I didn't have to have a yahoo username to use flickr I would be done with yahoo.

I was a beta tester, and this app was much easier to use that GO. The screens were nicer, it used Opera for all its broweser needs, had buit in notification for email and other built in apps. It sucks that their dropping it.

I used Yahoo!Go a long time ago when it was just a voice command search engine and when I started beta testing for vlingo realized vlingo was far more advanced (which is how I ended up with it).
They were so very similar at that time I always wondered who copied who.
