If you happen to run a WordPress blog and are looking for a good app to try out the BlackBerry PlayBook Android App Player on then you'll want to scoop up the official version of WordPress for PlayBook. The team from Automattic went ahead and ported their Android version to the PlayBook so everyone can make use of it on the go.
- Write Posts, including the adding of media content
- Edit Pages
- Manage Comments
As noted the features are similar to that which you would find in the WordPress for BlackBerry of course only on a larger scale designed for your PlayBook. Remember folks, you can't see the Android app player -- you need to install an app that makes use of it.

Yeah its on there twice, it popped up for me about a week or so ago, but now i have two. One from Handster, and the other from Automattic. Go with the Automattic folks. There should be a way to report bogus/duplicate apps like that.
Do a search for Wordpress, you'll see what I'm talking about.

If 2 people provide the same app, is it still duplicate? Or are you saying one of those 2 people stole the others app and posted it as there own.
Frankly, there are multiple Twitter apps and some are better than others, then there is just personal preferences on how the app works.

I would say you have to see for your self...Turns out Wordpress for android is open source and you can re distribute it as long as you provide the GPL license with it. Both applications are exactly...exactly the same...

Hey guys I am a new user can you tell me how do it get the android app player please?
bunnyyappi Feb 21, 2012 at 10:02 am
The Android Player is already included in the OS2.0 update. In order to see it in action, just get an Android app from App World. As a start, get this WordPress app from App World and when you run it, it would launch the Android Player.
Also try searching "Android" in App World, you'd find some Android Apps this way.
CrackBerry team, please do a post on this Android Player thingy. People are so confused about it.

+1 I'm also confused ==" need in depth explanation

Hi @demagician,
Ty from RIM here. I thought I could jump in here to help clarify how Android runtime works. The Android “player” simply allows ported Android applications to run on the PlayBook, so there’s no need to install or run anything else, as it’s baked right into the OS. Android apps that have been ported to the PlayBook platform and submitted, reviewed, and approved for BlackBerry App World will be available for download and use on the PlayBook.
We have a number of apps from these developers already, and the list is growing every day. Keep an eye on BlackBerry App World for newly added apps as they arrive: http://bbry.lv/bM0QK5.
Cheers,
Ty, RIM Social Media Team

I was sort of 'meh' about the possible lag of the Android Player, but wow....snappy response.

Also a guide to what other decent Android apps have been added would be good too. Ideally from one of your friends on Android Central who knows what they are looking for.

I feel duped by RIM- the Android player everybody thought we were gonna get- we DIDN'T get and what's more...there aren't ANY decent Android apps in app world they all suck! I thought we were gonna get the Android that ACTUALLY plays ANDROID and we can open and download Android apps from the Android Market but NOPE! There isn't ANY IM Apps still- Skype, Yahoo Messenger, OoVoO or anything just the sucky video app that belongs to RIM and which I can't use cause nobody I know has a PlayBook! Then there's the books, I'm going to college and Kobo doens't have crap of the ones I need so I figured with Android we would get Amazon, Kindle, etc... NOPE! Not even a decent Navigation App... we didn't get anything, as far as I can tell we got duped...again! I've been so caught up in the bridge remote that the more I've been thinking about it the more I get pissed. Another thing the email didn't work for me either, it won't let me setup Yahoo Mail! So still, what can I use my PlayBook for...surfing the web! TOTALLY USELESS!!!
