Win a Bold from Rogers!

** Update: I JUST received my contest entry email from Rogers (too bad the link in it didn't work!). At least things are looking official. Have heard from several Rogers dealers today - the Bold showed up on Sales Central as the 9000R. Selling for $399.99 on a 3 year contract. Dealer price is $599.99. Off Contract prices are typically $50 to $100 over that, so let's hope $649.99 Off Contract holds true. **

I received this email from one of our Rogers' peeps... If you're a Canadian (not living in Quebec) here's the word on your chance to win a BlackBerry Bold. Sounds like you'll have to hurry though to get in for a chance to win (hopefully it's not too late):

Announcing a BlackBerry Bold Launch Customer Contest

In May, we posted a landing page on rogers.com (rogers.com/bold) to pre-promote the launch of the BlackBerry Bold. Customers were asked to provide their contact information in order to receive notification of the launch date and additional information about the device. The launch date is slated for August 21, with PR and Marketing Communications activities happening on August 19th.

17,000 leads were generated and in order to deliver on our commitment and further hype the launch we will send an e-mail to all customers on this list with the product announcement and details about an "Enter to Win a Bold" contest several days prior to the formal launch date.

Customers will have a chance to win 1 out of 10 BlackBerry Bold smartphones.

Methods of entry:

  • Customers will receive an e-mail on August 19th, 2008 informing them of the Bold's launch date. Embedded in the e-mail is a link for customers to click on in order to fill out the online ballot/lead generation form.
  • Customers will fill out the mandatory fields in order to be entered in the draw.
  • One entry per e-mail address.
  • Exclusions: Quebec residents are not eligible for contest. However, Quebec residents will still receive an e-mail to notify them of the Bold's launch date.

Please note:

  • This is an exclusive online contest/promotion
  • Customers who filled out the form to be notified of the BlackBerry Bold and received an e-mail of the launch date/contest ballot are only eligible for the contest
  • Contest ends September 30th, 2008

The Notification Form is STILL UP at Rogers.com/Bold (click the link at the bottom of the page), so hopefully if you go and fill it out RIGHT NOW you will still get in on the notifications and be elgible for a chance to win.

I thought I'd already applied for that same notification but I probably entered my work email...Thanks for the heads up!!

I say we should have kept this a secret, limit the number of applicants, increase chances of success/winning...

It's already down now. I JUST went to fill it out and although I clicked the link and it was still up when I was going to do it. It went down in between that time and now it's too late. I'm sad.

Why not for Quebec? I would like to win a Bold too.

By: Leiumtide | Date: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 12:28

Because most of you would rather not be a part of Canada apparently. =P

MAYBE it's because we don't get to participate in these cool contests... What good is it to be part of a country when we aren't even allowed to participate in their contests! Hmmff!

I love Canada though. <3

i also received the email and the link to the contest didn't for me either.

quebec has different laws. i remember when working for cibc visa, we had different procedures for Quebec residents cuz they have very different laws that didn't allow them to do a lot of things over the phone/email.

Just talked to my insider at Rogers. $649.99 is holding true for non-contract Bolds......WOOT WOOT

So I'll verify on salescentral we have a bulletin that tells us "PR and marketing begins on the 19th. The Launch is slated for the 21st!"

Guarenteed 100%.

Also the bold does show up as the 9000 in the upgrade arena, with just the 624.99 buyout price showing for now.

Ugh! Typical Rogers fashion...links to the site don't work right..marketing campaign is a flop already from Rogers and it's just getting started.

The link that Kevin posted this morning dosent seem to give you the option for notification anymore, But this one seems to.

Correct me if I am wrong but in order for us to get a 3G data plan ($30/mo for 6gb) doesn't that require us to sign a 3 year contract? I know $399 is expensive but I don't see the logic in buying it outright and avoiding the 3 year contract and not being able to take advantage of the discounted 3G data plan.

I got the email but the link in it goes to a website that gives a runtime error

Server Error in '/' Application.

:(

any ideas?

By: Anonymous (not verified) | Date: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 17:33

Yes, the link has a runtime error for me also. It must have either been overloaded by users or just needs to be adjusted. I'm sure it will be fixed over the next month and a half.

nooooo!!! I don't want to wait that long!

...stupid rogers...

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

I got my email... AWESOME... I still wonder why TigerDirect is selling their bolds $975.99 if it's gonna be cheaper than thought before like $800 unlocked.

By: rufluffy | Date: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 21:31

First the email went into spam and I have a rogers account!

Then the run-time errors.

Finally was able to fill out and send the form successfully!

Yeah I'm hoping others experienced the same problem and gave up thus making my chances of winning a little better....
