You'll be wanting to do this if you want to run your Tour on a GSM carrier in North America. The contest is open to anybody who owns (or plans to own in the very near future) a Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630! To enter, just be logged in to CrackBerry.com and make a comment on this blog post. Simply follow these directions to unlock any blackberry for free:
1. Dial *#06#
2. Write down IMEI
3. Call Service Provider (Verizon)
4. Ask for the department that will allow for international usage.
5. They will ask for your IMEI and send you an email with your unlock code.
6. Once you have the code just go to options and advanced settings and then type mepd, then type mep2, enter the unlock code they gave you and you're unlocked...now just pop in any SIM and it should work..

And I would love an unlock code even though I should be able to get it from Verizon. I'm pretty sure Verizon hates me now any way :)

Verizon told me to wait 60 days. But I can't. I really need the phone unlocked for when I travel abroad.

The Blackberry Tour is by far the best Blackberry I have owned and trust me I go through them all the time. The Tour is sleek and stylin. I love it. The only problem is that my girlfriend thinks I'm more into it than her, "MAYBE". Hope to win. Thanks from a proud Tour owner who waited outsdie of Bjs at 7 til they opened at 9.
