Original Post - April 27th, 2012: As the world's #1 BlackBerry Fanboy, I take pride in always having the latest and greatest BlackBerry. So when the $2,000 Porsche Design P'9981 Smartphone from BlackBerry went on sale in North America, I just had to have it. The P'9981 is an exclusive (and expensive!) smartphone that gets a *lot* of attention thanks to its distinct styling and limited availability. As I mentioned in my P'9981 Review, you kind of feel like a celebrity just owning one.
And as much I enjoy using the P'9981 and being a member of the newly-formed Club P'9981 owners group, I've decided it's time to pay my P'9981 forward to a lucky member of the CrackBerry community. As was pointed out to me in an email I received from a reader earlier this week, the Fearless Leader of CrackBerry Nation should rock a BB more representative of the 99% of CrackBerry Nation, not the < 1%. I couldn't agree more. So I'm back on my white Bold 9900 and my P'9981 is up for grabs!

Damn, i'd love to have this phone.
Why do i think i should have it?
Well first of all let me tell you how i got my first (and only) Blackberry.
I switched to BlackBerry 9700 after having soo many troubles on my Omnia (which had winmo 6.5). I just wanted a phone that could to the surfing, checking e-mails, messaging and calling without any problems. I also wanted a telephone that could last a whole day without me worrying to take an adapter with me or recharge before i leave. I didn't want an android, because i wanted a working OS, to call or write an sms within seconds. iPhone was too expensive and so was a new BlackBerry. But i really wanted to give BlackBerry a chance, especially after reviewing some videos here on CrackBerry and thinking that this phones OS could really do all those things i wanted very fast and responsive.
Because i was short on cash i ended up buying at the end of last year almost 2 years old Bold 9700. I thought i'm gonna use it for few months than think of buying something better - an iPhone or very fast Android. But after few weeks of use i got used of keyboard very fast - suddenly there was no problem making phone calls, replying to e-mails, messages. Ofcourse all of that could do WinMo 6.5, iOS and Android - but not at such ease and joy like BlackBerry. Especially WinMo, that could crash just composing an email or getting sms while talking - even after using custom ROMS to improve performance - hated that OS so much...
I really like BlackBerry OS 6, love OS 7 and I think that OS 10 (QNX) will be really AWESOME - I don't even want to try iOS, Android, or WP! My next phone will definitely be a BlackBerry Bold with OS7.
Again why do I need another BlackBerry if I already have Bold 9700?
Well actually i don't have my BlackBerry anymore since it fell out of my pocket from height above 100m - from the top of the power supply tower TEŠ in Šoštanj, Slovenia (thanks to my clumsiness).
Why don't i just buy one?
Well like i said, the next phone will be definitely BlackBerry Bold with OS7. But with our carriers (in Slovenia) that aren't very BlackBerry user-friendly and their prices with about 500EUR with 2-year plan subscription for 25EUR/month for a Bold 9900 is just to expensive for my pocket right now, because i just started my own firm that would offer webhosting services and would really need a phone that would deliver e-mails blazingly fast, for which i think that BB + BIS is more than perfect.
Well I hope that i get this P'9981 so i can also go to my carrier and show them that they need to support us - BlackBerry fans!
Why? - Because the last time i went there they couldn't tell me where can i download the newest official OS - AND IT WAS ON THEIR OFFICIAL WEBSITE! -.-'

Not sure if you take into account what people post for "(tell me why you want my P'9981!)" or if its just random from all the comments. I own a 9900, so wanting this would be purely for the novelty oh having an exclusive device on the platform I love. I watched your podcast, where you went on for about 15 minutes about how owning that phone made you feel... and that.. is why I want your 9981!!
Not to mention, an exclusive phone previously owned by CrackBerry Kevin is just THAT MUCH MORE exclusive!!

Here are the reasons why I think you should pick me to win your awesome Porches Design BlackBerry :
- To expensive for me
- Being from NB Canada, I would most likely be the first / only one in the province with this awesome phone.
- This would be a great replacement for my 9800.
Most of my colleagues at work switched to the Iphone because they thought BB was boring, this would show that they are wrong. I am actually the best only one that still use a BB.

I'm not going to delude myself and think I'll win, though of course I'll throw my name in just in case. But I do have to say that Crackberry is probably one of the best sites for giving back to it's users. The regular contests every week or so are amazing enough, but for an individual member to put up his own phone, and a 2000$ one at that, is something else entirely. I know I won't likely be the one to win this phone, but I do want to at least send my sincerest appreciation to the Crackberry team, and especially Kevin, for the great site and even greater contests.

I should win this phone because of my dedication to blackberry and the crackberry nation. any time a friend is thinking of getting a new phone, regardless of what they have in mind, i will always try to convince them into a blackberry. Even if they have a phone in mind, i always ask 1 specific question, and that is do you txt a lot. 95% of the people will say yes and i show them my keyboard on my bold. with the Porsche design, i think it will improve my success rate at converting the non believers.

I should have this phone because I've been a Blackberry fan for over 8 yrs. And being an IT professional I'm always made fun of for being the only one with a Blackberry! But I always stand by it!!!!! I would love to win the P9981. It looks sharp and has a touch of elegance. Plus, quite simply I love Blackberry efficiency. It is second to none....it's just those Apple and Droid guys don't know it yet. I would use it to hammer out emails and texts and BBM and get things done. I need a tool not a toy.
