December is here which means it's time for yet another amazing CrackBerry Santa contest. Last year we also gave away an IOU for a BB10 phone, thinking they would become available in 2012. Mrs. Claus isn't too happy that the winner from last year's CB Santa contest is still waiting for their prize, but at least this year we know the winner will get their phone soon into the new year, with the BlackBerry 10 launch event happening on January 30th, 2013.

The Prize: The winner of this contest will receive their choice of BlackBerry 10 phone - either the L-Series full touchscreen version which will come to market first, or the N-Series qwerty version that will hit the market second. And of course, we're CrackBerry... so we'll come up with a bunch of great stocking stuffer prizes for a few other lucky winners.

And remember, you can now easily login by connecting with your existing Facebook, Twitter, Google or Microsoft accounts. It was Kevin and Craig, the addict and the expert, who (back in the day) helped me decide which phone was gonna replace my old Motorola Razr. The Bold 9000, my first smartphone, and my first BlackBerry.

Since then I've gone thru a Torch and almost all my BBM friends (who now own Galaxy's and iPhones). I am currently enjoying the Cadillac of keyboards on the Bold 9900, but I am PSYCHED about the touchscreen BB10.

BlackBerry 10 is an upcoming proprietary mobile operating system, developed by Research In Motion for its BlackBerry line of smartphone and tablet handheld devices.It is based on QNX which was acquired by RIM in April 2010.

RIM has claimed that there is no single line of code from the current BlackBerry legacy OS present in the new QNX based OS. The platform was originally called BBX but this was changed when RIM was blocked from using the BBX trademark after legal action from BASIS International, who already uses it for their software.

RIM CEO, Thorsten Heins, has said that the company is considering licensing BlackBerry 10 to other OEMs. BlackBerry 10 smartphones are scheduled to be released in Q1 of 2013. On the 12 November, 2012, RIM CEO Thorsten Heins announced a January 30, 2013 launch of the BB10 system.
