Rogers White BlackBerry Bold 9780

If you've been holding out for that white BlackBerry Bold 9780 (ahem, Kevin) -- the wait is over. Rogers now has the device ready and waiting for a good home. The white Bold 9780 is on Rogers website and can be picked up for the standard rate - $149 on a 3 year term, $399 2 year, $449 1 year or monthly. Unlike the all-black Bold 9780, the white version isn't all white and has the chrome bezel just like the Bold 9700 along with a black mid-section which is kind of a drag, but it is what it is. No word if it is yet available in stores (although it should be) so if you come across one leave a comment letting us know! Thanks Natalie

What do you mean by Black Mid-section? Which part in the picture are you referring to?

pilot-leo

the part where the convenience is located!

It's actually more of a gray -- it doesn't look all that bad in videos I have seen (not a major contrast)

Mid-Section is the Trackpad which is Black and looks uncool on a white 9780.

no mid-section doesn't mean the trackpad, he means the rubbery middle section with the convenience keys on it, as others have noted..

and like someone else said, I believe it is actually a dark grayish color, like on the white Torch, which doesn't look bad at all, but in fact pretty good imo...

i like,but happy with my 9700 black o/s 6 .380,maybe if i accidently(ahem) drop it,i might have to look more closely

Having the mid-section/band (where the convenience keys and camera/flash are located) isn't too bad on the white 9780, It was easy to "black out" the 9780 for RIM as all they had to do was order their supplier to coat the bezels in black.

Should be able to get handset for free on a 2 year contract - that's how it is in the UK. My 9700 is £35 a month including insurance on an 18 month run (Voda UK).

Really don't like the black trackpad on it. Saw an old work collegue and he had his bb in his hand not sure if it was a 9700 or a 9780 but the black trackpad just looked weird could hardly stop staring and the bb rather then him. He may think that I'm a bit mental now!!

Ass. I didn't notice it till you said something. I still prefer the black 9780 and actually will keep enjoying my 9800 but that 9780 is hell of a phone!

Elegant_Choc_TS

I just purchased the only one that in my service providers retail store. It's more of a "pearlescent" than white. I like it, and it's easy to find in a bag of things. The new operating system works better than the previous 9700 that I had, which was black btw...

I loooove my white 9780. It stands out. Ill never have another black BB.

I'm still hoping for it on att.

icycoldice

does anyone know how I can get it from Rogers for $149 or less if I already have a Blackberry 9700 in black with a contract?

CrackBerry.-xo

You may be eligible for a hardware upgrade if you have been with Rogers for at least a year (assuming you haven't already used it). Generally they only take about half the price off with this sort of upgrade -- you only get the 3 year contract price if you're a new activation. Even if you renew your contract, it's not the same thing. Hope that helps :)

icycoldice

is there any way I could take advantage of the handset protection grantee to get one?

White 9780 also available now from Telus - $99 on a 3-yr activation

Nice to see Rogers are once again jacking their price over Bell, Telus, and Virgin.

Wish they'd give us Bold 9650 owners some white love.

GOT MINE ON THE 10TH FROM BEST BUY.....SAME AS THE 9700 I HAD IN WHITE. BUT CAMERA FAST...VIDEO BETTER..HOWEVER THE KEYBOARD IS MORE 'CLICKY' AND NOT AS SMOOTH TEXTURE AS THE 9700.

A FEW 'BURPS' SWITCHING APPS ETC, BUT OVERALL AM HAPPY WITH IT...

SORRY FOR THE CAPS...:)
