Why is it a $2.99 per month subscription for it on T-Mobile?

Posted by Green_Laser Tuesday, Apr 13, 2010 775 days ago

if so, that is just strange to me.

had the previous version for a about a year for free and new version says free in appworld too.

are you sure?

Hi showtime775,
On T-Mobile, a premium version of WHERE is preloaded on the device. There is a subscription fee for the premium version which has extra features (such as the new Jambase music feature).

better than Poynt? I am a huge fan of Poynt and have been for a while. I tried out Where and was not that impressed. Which is better, the newest version of Poynt or the newest version of Where?

I prefer Poynt

Posted by hunoosh Tuesday, Apr 13, 2010 774 days ago

POYNT

Posted by shlee Tuesday, Apr 13, 2010 775 days ago

I dont think so. I am also a huge fan of Poynt and it would have to be an opinion, not fact in this case.

WHY IS THIS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE 9700 ? HOW RUDE

Posted by mwright30 Tuesday, Apr 13, 2010 775 days ago

It seems very odd that the 9700 is not supported since it evolved from the 83xx, 85xx, 8900 family. I will use something else, maybe Poynt.....and yes, Where is for sale on T-Mobile. It comes preloaded.

I feel like a Storm owner saying this, but wow, not available on the 9700? That just seems strange to me since the screen res is the same as many phones, the processor is the same as the Bold 9000 (which is supported)....guess I not only won't bother with this but can't.

Posted by NMA Wednesday, Apr 14, 2010 774 days ago

Hi ShadowsWittness,
Sorry for the confusion, but WHERE actually is available on the 9700! However, only our premium version of WHERE is available on this device. You can find it as a preload on T-Mobile or in the MEdia Mall on AT&T.

I saw 2 negative comments on CrapWorld. Is this worth it? Does it work in Asia?
Rather than wasting time, can anyone comment comparisons with FourSquare?

Is anyone else getting bored of these apps? What is the deal with all these apps that make it into a game to update where you are and where you've been? Stupidest concept ever.

Posted by Green_Laser Tuesday, Apr 13, 2010 775 days ago

and thats probably part of the app that i wouldnt utilize.

never been a fan of advertising where i was / where i am.. i dont get it either. waste of time for me.

looks like I won't be dling it. My first device died and I never dled it again. I'll stick with Poynt.

Poynt FTW. I tried where, but I much prefered the UI of poynt, and it seemed faster than Where.

You are saying it is version 1.7.0. I downloaded WHERE two days ago. the ABOUT screen shows v.1.7.1. !!!!!

Posted by NMA Wednesday, Apr 14, 2010 774 days ago

Hi romman,
We are always updating WHERE to keep things running smoothly. You are correct that we have released v. 1.7.1. However, most people will still see v. 1.7.0 when they enter the BB App World. In a few days everyone will be all caught up!

So in the picture above, it show a music icon.

I just dled the upgrade and it is not showing me a musci icon.

Can someone help with this?

Posted by NMA Wednesday, Apr 14, 2010 774 days ago

Hi Godzfavrt,
The Music icon you see represents our new Jambase feature, which is only available on the premium, subscription-based version on WHERE. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Have used both, and Where has worked better for me with restaurants and I like the weather forecast view better in Where than poynt even though both are powered by Accuweather. Where's UI seems better on the Storm.

Lots of useful features on the app itself.. wish i could post to facebook with it, other than that, I couldn't ask for anything more.. weather, movies, businesses, GPS integration, events, traffic, coupons, etc.. very useful for a traveler.

Does anyone know?

Posted by NMA Wednesday, Apr 14, 2010 774 days ago

Hi ree3312
Just wanted to let you know that WHERE actually is already supported on the 9700! However, only the premium, subscription-based version of WHERE is available on this device. You can find WHERE preloaded on T-Mobile's 9700 and in the MEdia Mall on AT&T's 9700.

I will play with it a little. It seems improved. I don't know if it is better than Poynt though.

I like LifeInPocket myself. That app has all kinds of things, even a GPS... I love it!

Hey! Seems everyone has a lot of similar questions. To clarify some things, a premium version of WHERE is available on the BB 9700 (preloaded on T-Mobile and available in MEdia Mall on AT&T). The premium version has extra features that are not available on the free version (such as the JamBase Music feature).

I saw that when I first got the 9700 but it'd be nice to have the free version like i've had on the 8900. I'm asking when the free version will be available for the 9700. Thanks.

Posted by NMA Wednesday, Apr 14, 2010 773 days ago

Hi ree3321,
We are in the process of building a free lite version that will be available on the 9700 in the future. Stay tuned for updates!

what? not available for my Bold 9700 on T-Mo in NC?!

Posted by NMA Thursday, Apr 15, 2010 773 days ago

Hi crownr0yal,
Sorry for any confusion, but WHERE actually is available on your T-Mobile Bold 9700. A premium version of WHERE is preloaded on your device, so that's why WHERE doesn't appear in the App World for your phone. Hope this helps!
