Web Directions wants your web app on the BlackBerry 10 platform and is giving away free stuff to get it!

The Web Directions Code conference kicks off in Melbourne, Australia on May 1-3, 2013 and as part of the conference they'll be holding a Blackberry App Competition for Australian and New Zealand residents. Show the world what you can do with the mobile Web, submit as an entry and you're in plus, thanks to the BlackBerry 10 platform tools, that's hella simple.

You don't even need to be in attendance at the Web Directions Code conference to win. For your efforts, you could win some pretty cool prizes such as BlackBerry Z10 smartphones, upwards of $2000 cash and an all expenses paid trip to BlackBerry Jam Asia 2013.

What you have to do
  • Check out http://developer.blackberry.com/html5 for platform documentation/tools
  • Create a mobile website or web app (bonus points for web apps)
  • Submit the publicly available link or preferably a .bar app file to csaunders [@] blackberry.com (with a short description for voters) by noon on May 1st AEST.
  • Win awesome prizes!

In addition to the competition, Chris Saunders from BlackBerry will be hosting a portathon at Web Directions in Sydney, from 2pm to 5pm, Friday April 26th. Parties interested in entering the competition can stop by, get some hands on experience with the tools and from there, submit their apps. Wow, that's some connection! Kinda wishing I could be there for that, but it ain't gonna happen :/ I remember attending the inaugural Web Directions North in Vancouver some years ago, an excellent conference!

I believe that you need to be Australian or New Zealand resident to participate the contest. Am I right?
