Want a Verizon BlackBerry Z10 for $100 no contract? Try Fry's

By Bla1ze on 27 Aug 2014 05:49 pm EDT

Looking for a BlackBerry Z10 for Verizon but don't want to bother with a contract? Well, you might want to hit up your local Fry's location if you have one near you. It seems as though for the past few days they've quietly been having a clearance deal on BlackBerry Z10's where you can pick one up either free with a contract or for only $100 without a contract.

That's a pretty sweet deal. The problem? Well, you can't check inventory online so you actually have to hit the pavement and go in search of one and it seems not all locations have them available or have exhausted their stock. Sound off though if you scoop one up! There's also the Verizon deal as well happening where you can get $150 in bill credit.

Thanks, Ghyss8888, TK Tech and Slick Deals.

Getting a phone with that pixel density at this price - a dream come true; having a phone that truly helps you at being productive - priceless!

Stop that right now! That might give BlackBerry marketing ideas and we #TeamBlackBerry folks don't want "our" company doings that unnecessary stuff!

Posted via CB10, now from a Z30

I was referring to the stupid first comments....for some reason if other people comment, crackberry puts the latest comments 1st (no pun intended) and whomever commented earlier gets pushed down, such as my case.

Love my Z10 looking for its successor or go for Z30 when the price is right for me

Right now shopBlackberry has the Z30 unlocked for $349 which I think is a very nice price. I already ordered one and I can't wait to get it next week XD

Sweet deal but I don't want white, is it available in black if quantities last?

No More Music!!!!! No More Videos!!!

Can still get black case and re-mod, for that price!

 BlackBerry? I premdict the future's gonna be chenomenal! 

I highly recommend everyone buy one, it's an amazing phone. And at that price you can have a leak tester too

Posted via CB10

Only 10.3 leaks, since it won't be supported with 10.4. You might get a few months of leaks out of it, not sure if it's really worth it.

Posted via CB10

Silly question, is that confirmed?

What about Classic / Khan running on pretty much Q10 hardware, are they gonna be obsolete soon? Z3?

No 10.4?

Please enlighten... :-)

 BlackBerry? I premdict the future's gonna be chenomenal! 

I don't imagine that's true... and, even if it is, we are a long way from 10.4.
That's what sets BlackBerry apart from the pack. They don't make their own products obsolete in a year. They don't just crank out new versions of the same phone, they make truly unique and different models. I don't like everyone crying about wanting a Z10 successor. What's wrong with it? (OK, maybe BlackBerry Could release an official extended battery for it...) The thing still runs like a dream! I still pull out the ol' Z10 every now and again to try out the occasional leak and because it's just so slick.

Well I hope your right about that. Although I plan on getting a passport at launch I like having my BlackBerry backups (although this nano sim might make that tough now)

Posted via CB10

Yeah, that's new to me. Until BB10, the microsim was new. I would imagine that there would be sim adapters similar to what they have for SD cards but I can't back that up. If they don't, there is an emerging market for someone with more time and engineering know-how than I have.

I wish I had one near me. I'd love to pick up a new Z10 at that price to hold me over until the next all touch device comes out.

I'd be happy to do it straight up its just a short 20 minute drive for me to my local Fry's.

Posted via CB10

That's true... with 10.3 the Z10 feels like a completely new Phone. :)

I have 2 fry's near me, send me $200 for my troubles and I'll send you 1. If you want it that badly that is.

Umm just because it doesn't have an att or t-mobile logo doesn't mean they weren't built... any of the Canadian variants will work on either network

That's not entirely true. Maybe for GSM or UMTS, but not for LTE. The spectrums on which AT&T will run LTE are bands 2, 5, 4, 12 (soon), 13 (soon) and 17; whereas T-Mobile will run LTE on bands 2, 4 and 12. The bands are different in different markets though.

AT&T mostly run LTE on band 17 in most markets, and then 4, then 5 and recently converting old band 2 CLR from 2G to LTE, with plans to modify band 17 to support bands 12 and 13 (that doesn't need any more details, just know it's a big FCC thing). Here in LA, it's basically bands 17 and 4, but mostly 17.

So, looking at the STA100's sub models, it looks like only -1 would have been supported by AT&T's network at its current state. If I were to pick up any of the available Z30 models, none of which are -1, I won't get support for LTE band 17, which means I would have to settle for HSPA+. Band 4 LTE is very limited for AT&T here. I would totally be screwed if I buy the -5 off shopblackberry because it will take years of decommissioning GSM before LTE band 5 can be supported in LA. For the practically non-existent band 4 LTE spectrum AT&T has here, my battery will just die trying to connect. Maybe in a few years that will change but not right now. The VZ model -3 does have some hope but the conversion of band 12 for interoperability with 13 and 17 will take a long time too. The hypothetical STA100-1 model is really the only variant that supports AT&T's frequencies at its current state.

Posted via CB10

For band 4 LTE and all UMTS and GSM bands. Not for bands 2 and 13, which T-Mobile also own.

Aren't all of T-Mobile's markets supporting band 4 LTE also supporting band 2 LTE as part of their "network modernisation" project? It's like either you subject yourself to network congestion on band 4, which is very likely, or you drop to HSPA+, which fosters very high latency on T-Mobile altogether.

Posted via CB10

That's why I said biggest network deployments. LTE band 2 deployment is not as big as LTE band 4 yet. And it's band 12 spectrum that TMO owns, not 13. The Z30 -5 does not have LTE band 2, but it does have UMTS band 2 (UMTS 1900.)

Wait, no, T-Mobile has already turned on Band 2 LTE everywhere Band 2 HSPA+ was made available, hasn't it? And that all of the Band 4 LTE areas must support Band 2?

So wait, T-Mobile owns Band 12 and not 13? Well that's not very "uncarrier" of them. And the FCC let that happen?

Band 2 LTE hasn't been turned on everywhere. They're still refarming it, and the self-set date for completion is end of 2015. There's no frequency overlap between bands 2 and 4, so the two are mutually exclusive.

Band 12 is what they got from Verizon in a spectrum swap in some markets. IF the FCC is involved in such transactions, they must have been okay with it .

Haha **edit** yes band 2. haha too many operating bands to memorise their frequency bands and division multiplexing!

Posted via CB10

OK, it's for Verizon, but we can unlock phones now, right? So this COULD be used on AT&T?

Posted via CB10

It's already unlocked. But it won't do you much good on American GSM networks. All you'll get is 2G.

You will also get 3G, 3.5G and 3.75G on UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, or whatever other W-CDMA software upgrades come after that. DC-HSPA+ anyone?

The Verizon Z10 will do none of these on any American network other than Verizon's, where it will get 3G speeds on CDMA, or it will have LTE. Every other American network it won't do better than 2G, because it doesn't have UMTS 850/1900/1700.

Oh you were talking about the Z10 still. Okay that makes sense. VZ has stopped doing that though and most of their recent phones can run on AT&T or T-Mobile's 3G/+ networks.

As much as I dislike the ismall, I would highly recommend you don't force your wife to do what she does not want to do. It will lead to resentment, and guess what. That saying that goes; it's cheaper to keep her. That is so freakin true it will make your wallet spin.

Posted via my QNX Z30

Although if you were to turn it into a challenge... that would be different. Try a BlackBerry for one month. If she doesn't like it, don't bother with it again.

Posted via CB10

On contract. This is an off-contract price. That matters to people on Verizon who would like to keep their unlimited data.

I wish they had the AT&T model and I would pick it up just to get used to BB10 while waiting for the Passport as I have a sneaking suspicion that with all of the publicity demand will be quite high as well as the price. So I figure that I hold out until Black Friday to see if there are any deals. (Not holding my breath there either as BB has not had this much interest for one of their phones since....well, ever! Still using my Torch 2

Sweet! And I have a Fry's store not but 10 minutes from my house! I'll have to go check that out. I need a play toy to load leaks on that won't affect my daily driver.

Via my simply amazing  Q10

Right. But that one won't work on Verizon. Verizon requires this particular model.

BTW, you can get it cheaper than 209. There's a coupon code that brings it down to 199.

Ok, looks like I'll be able to get two of them, I just called around and having another one ship to the Fry's close to me in San Marcos, CA.., this deal is awesome..

oh, Thanks B1aze for the post, thanks to you I'll have 3 z10's... don't ask me why..lol..I guess my 11 year old can have one..

It wouldn't make a difference since the phones can be unlocked (it's a law now) you will only have the Verizon branding to contend with.

Posted via CB10

I'm not to educated on unlocking phones. But doesn't Verizon use SIM-less devices? If the Verizon version of the Z10 were to be unlocked would it support T-Mobile's LTE signal?

Posted with my T-Mobile USA  Q10 via CB10.

You don't need to be educated in unlocking phones. A law was passed that forces all providers to unlock your phone if you request it (provided you live in the u.s.) whether it works on tmobile's lte i do not know. I'm on tmobile and i never had a need to use lte just 4g which is fast enough for my needs, don't know about you though.

Posted via CB10

The version version doesn't work on T-Mobile and AT&T, unless you're happy with 2g, the Canadian variants will get you 4G (or is it LTE?) on the two U.S GSM carriers.

Posted via CrackBerry App

That's a fire sale. After these are gone I doubt you'll see any more Bkackberrys being sold there.

Surprisingly, that might not be the case. I told the sales lady that I'll have to keep an eye out for when they get ready to sell the Q10s for $99 and she said that she doubts that will happen. She said that shockingly that they have sold quite a few of them. Of course, take that with a grain of salt. It is a Fry's mobile sales manager. At least she knew what BB10 was.

Posted via CB10

Just check Fry's in Concord, CA the SF Bay Area and they had none in stock. They a few Bold 9000 and Torch tho.

Posted via CB10

Sweet deal - that's a great phone at a great price.

That being said, I don't regret getting the phone at the price that I did a year ago (around $400)

Wonderful device. Runs like a dream. Does everything that I want it to.

Screw market sentiment.

Unless you are super keyboard lover, then z10 has the clearest display and a gorgeous touch screen.

Its really awesome device.

Its a steal I would just buy one if I was around.

Still happy with my q10.

Wow not bad at all. My buddy has been searching for Z30's in Verizon stores but apparently they gave up on BlackBerry. I'm gonna assume so since they've made the foolish decision to carry the Z10 and Not the 30. I just shared this link with him hopefully he jumps on board

"Once You Go Black You Never Go Back"

BlackBerry is cleaning out its storage rooms, since there are plenty of new devices arriving soon! ;)

Good, Better, BlackBerry Z30

I'm using Z10 and can tell everyone that after 1 years use it is a awsome phone. Pity I'm in UK as i want to get wife on BlackBerry 10!

My lubbly jubbly Z10. Shine on you crazy BlackBerry

Agree, not want give up my Z10 as my daily runner. Perfect size and weight and since OS10.2.2 battery life also OK. Paired with a charger bundle I couldn't care less about battery life anymore.

I buy the Motorola Nexus 6 as a Toy with latest tech and waiting for an Z10 upgrade.
But must be a powerfull device, but not want old snapdragon800 same they put in the Passport

Z10 LE (red) #00167 OS10.2.2.1531

Still makes me sad that Sprint never carried it. I know I need to stop wining.

Posted via CB App from my Galaxy S4 Mini with an LED CrackLight ;-)

Are these unlocked?
Because I have a white Z10 on contract from Verizon and it came Pre-Unlocked.

Posted via CB10

Bla1ze - stop touting that $150 Verizon deal, it's for business customers only....gets me excited every time but doesn't apply to most of us

Also, Verizon apparently is done withe the Z30, would love to get Crackberry to track down some "official" info on this....

It is unlocked, but the only CDMA network it will work on is Verizon's. I don't think this phone's been made to work on any other MVNOs like Page Plus.

If only I had waited 16 months and had a Fry's near me, I could've kept my unlimited data plan with Verizon!

Wilsonville oregon does not have them and every salesman talked a bunch of crap about BlackBerry. They had one old torch and they said that they will not be getting more BlackBerrys

"Our emotions are in the water we drink"

Z10 is still the best. Other than the battery size but because it allows removable the phone can last way longer compare to those with non removable battery.
