RIM's Vodafone BlackBerry Storm Unboxed!
Click the image above for more pics!!! Keep in mind this a RIM-issued Vodafone BlackBerry Storm (note the property of RIM sticker on the device shots). Odds are good the actual Storm that ships from Vodafone will come in different packaging. The date on on the Storm's display is October 17th - word is there was an International PR event at RIM's headquarters in Waterloo that day, and these pics came from there (we just never saw them when they were first posted at T3's website on the 20th).
Nice eyecandy though. Ahhhh... gotta love that NEW smartphone smell!

Alright Verizon, now it's your turn !! One of the screenshots does have the VZ Nav icon though. Hmmmm...

VoltaicShock Nov 5, 2008 at 3:51 pm

I am waiting for this to come to AT&T.
Vin Nov 5, 2008 at 3:43 pm
I have butterflies waiting for these pages to open. OMG I think, I think awwww. I came. I need a smoke.
briankeith513 Nov 5, 2008 at 3:46 pm
If this is vodaphone unboxed, why does it say "property of RIM"? There was no carrier symbol on it, and it had VZ Navigator, which is Verizon, not Vodaphone.
Vin Nov 5, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Also look at the dates on the phone it says Oct 17. What gives? I thought the phone is available for Vodafone on Friday.
Fishy, but still some serious eye candy. (sigh)
vincenttanakiam Nov 6, 2008 at 11:44 am
because Verizon owns Vodafone for 45% !!!!
that's why the call the storm the globalphone.
you benefit from the carriers viceversa get it.
murphy tha dog Nov 5, 2008 at 3:53 pm
That shot in the docking station is going to turn off the neat freaks. What's up with all the smudginess. This thing going to be released on Nov 9th on VZW or what?
JavaDevelop Nov 5, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Well, from the words of "a likely uneducated" Verizon sales guy....I'm told "in about a month".

If you look closely to the picture of the back of the device it says property of RIM, it says "something something unit" not for sale or lease AND there is a RIM mug on the desk.
I don't think this is some big conspiracy but it is a bit disheartening.

"Property of
research in
motion limited
all rights
reserved
Evaluation unit
not for sale or
lease" :)
Berry Pickin Nov 5, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Right. It clearly says "Property of Reasearch in Motion. Not for sale or lease". So, this is bogus. VZ icons?? This is very lame. VERY.
Does not compute Nov 5, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Interesting, because the image of the phone in the box appears to have the Vodaphone logo at the bottom, but this does not show up in the other pictures of the front of the phone...
spektakle Nov 5, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Looks like it says "Evaluation Unit"
mush10 Nov 5, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Why is it in 1xEV? Wouldn't the Vodaphone model be GSM?
hymie Nov 5, 2008 at 4:03 pm
and look at the coffee cup in the backround. It looks like it says Rimm???
And I have seen those man-hands before...

"Update: I am disappointed T3 used two different devices in the “unboxing” It starts out as a Vodafone 9500 and ends with a 9530. So it looks like the unboxing was opening the box and switching to a demo." -BlackberryNews
dmann4 Nov 5, 2008 at 4:02 pm
I think this is a sample box, that Vodaphone made and sent to RIM. Who ever that was they were just showing how the box is laid out and whats going to be in it. That's why the desk has a RIM cup, the phone says Property of RIM, and some random phone motherboard on the desk.
Berry Pickin Nov 5, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Back of the phone has this:
"Property of research in motion"
"All rights reserved"
"EVALUATION UNIT"!!!!!
"Not for sale or lease"
I smell a rat.........

You guys are lucky. I am on T-Mobile USA and I get the shaft.... no Bold No Storm :-(
lowfire#CB Nov 5, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Not happy with the looks of the holster that is comes with
MsKiki Nov 5, 2008 at 5:21 pm
I'm so over the damn wait. I just want Verizon to release the damn phone already and it better not lag. After months of waiting I have no doubt it will be worth the wait.
After the loooong ass wait this phone better seriously be the ultimate icrap killer! LOL
Anon Nov 5, 2008 at 6:20 pm
No memory card included in the box!
werd10101 Nov 5, 2008 at 6:40 pm
not only is this not an official box, but they said it would come PRE installed.
brandonhd Nov 5, 2008 at 6:38 pm
It says "Dock your berry in the charger provided and laugh at other less fortunate dock-less mobi owners."So does it come w/one or not?
urmomFTW Nov 5, 2008 at 10:26 pm
does not come with dock.
VZW selling the dock for ...$29.99 I believe it is.
Blank Nov 5, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Do we know yet if the screen is glass or plastic?
urmomFTW Nov 5, 2008 at 10:25 pm
RIM said it was glass
Michael_Kine Nov 5, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Like many others have noticed, this can't be a vodafone model. The signal shows 1xEV (for EVDO) which is what Verizon has. Plus the VZ Navigator icon...I mean come on. Don't say this is a voda model when you can clearly see it's not.

I popped in on my local Vodafone store yesterday to be told that my pre-ordered storm (I am third in the queue) would be delivered on Friday at 8.00AM and I'll get a call when it is..
But then at 4:30 I get a call to tell me that it has been delayed and would not be in on Friday - asking if it would be in on Monday he said "I don't think so, but we will let you know when, we hope it will be next week"
So there you have it - Vodafone/RIM delays the UK delivery!!!
I'll post when I get mine!!!
Simeon.
wILLZ10 Nov 6, 2008 at 8:29 am
Why does everyhting have to be a big secret? Why can't they just tell us when VZW is going to release it? They delayed the Bold so many times that I switched and if that happens with this I am not going to be happy!!!!

Can this be Un Locked and ran on ATT?
