I am interested in an app for the Blackberry Storm 2. The app is AnchorWatch. This app allows a boater to set limits on how far his boat should be able to move around at anchor and if it exceeds this limit an alarm on the smart phone goes off. This is needed when you are sleeping as the marine devices that do this are not located where you are sleeping and the phone can easily be there.

I have attempted to download this app from the web site www.myanchorwatch.com unsuccessfully. They use a program called Active X to do the down load through your PC. Is it possible to download this app through your store?

What the heck does this have anything to do with Vlingo??

I've been waiting on this update ever since I got the Storm2 a week ago. Vlingo was my most used app on my Curve 8330 and it works twice as fast on this 5.0. Instead of 'thinking' for 7-8 seconds for calling someone, it is nearly instantaneous.

i'd pay for this app hands down if it supported bbm messaging... 90% of my messaging is through bbm..

ah well. still cool for everything else.

I agree. I do a lot of texting through BBM and it would be a great option to have.

If it can't work directly with BBM, I think if it had an option to have text automaticall loaded for copying, that would be a nice workaround. You could say something like "Copy 'Meet me at 9:00am'" and it would open the Vlingo window, convert the text, and have a Copy button at the bottom. You could then paste text into any app, including BBM.

This is a huge improvement...no restarts are required. In addition, the voice recognition seems even better!

Anyone else not able to reply to a text with vlingo? I hit the BB key and its not available in the menu. I'm a storm 1 owner running 5.0.

You actually have to open the thread and touch one of the messages you've received. You can't just open the message and hit the BB key and find "Reply Using Vlingo". I fought with this for about 15 minutes before I figured it out by accident.

Is it just me or do SMS sent via Vlingo disappear after sending? I can't find a record of them anywhere.

My Sent SMS messages are also disappearing or at least not being stored in the SMS folder. I just upgraded to the premium version also, and my friends are not receiving the texts I send using vlingo.

I just sent an SMS text, it went through fine but mine is not storing them in the SMS folder either. Thought it may be in the options settings...went and looked - nope - nothing there.

Ok, Further info. I upgraded to Vlingo plus and I send a text message to a friend. It seems to send fine but the text messages are not being received. Heads up before anyone else upgrades. If Vlingo responds to my support message and fixes it I will update this.

Good luck with that. I sent a support request this morning detailing sent SMS disappearing, indicating that I'm using Vingo Plus 3.3 and OS 5.0 and received the following response:

With the release of Vlingo 3.3, we support BlackBerry OS 5.0 on the following BlackBerry devices:

Storm
Storm 2

If you currently have OS 5.0 on any non-Storm device, you may download and run Vlingo 3.3 from www.vlingo.com at your own risk. We have not tested these devices, and may not be able to support problems that occur until a future release. However, we believe this to be the best available option for anyone running OS 5.0.

To download the most current release, you can visit www.vlingo.com from your BlackBerry's browser. If you have previously purchased Vlingo Plus for your phone and your license is currently active, it will automatically reactivate after installing the upgrade.

No answer to my question at all.

Well, Vlingo does not work on my Storm 2 with OS 5.0.0.320. Every time I hit the side button and am told to speak, I get a cannot connect to network error.

I purchased Vlingo Plus for my Storm 1 but it stopped working when I updgraded to 5.0 os. It's a great App, but now that I have the S2, will I have to re-purchase it ? It does not show in my world in the apps store.

WOW Crackberry is really falling behind on updates nowadays...I posted this information in the forum yesterday (Storm 2 Forums) morning and the update actually took place late Wednesday night and it takes CB 2 days to get this blog posted? I wonder if someone just saw my post and figured they'd take credit for it...hmm...

I had Vlingo on my original Storm. When I updated to OS 5.0.0.238 it quit working, so I deleted it. I downloaded this new version of the software and it doesn't work. When I press the selected side button it brings up the setup screen rather than asking for input. I deleted it and downloaded directly from their web site and from Blackberry App Store and all of them did the same thing.

I love the app and miss it, but if just won't work on my original Storm with the new operating system.

I have the storm 1 and was so happy when vlingo was finally updated. Delete your old Vlingo app, use your bb storm browser to go to your web order(where ever you purchased it), and download it from there. After you intstall it , a message will tell you that there is a new version. Upgrade, and Viola! it works great. Very fast, almost instant. This is my favorite app!
