vlingo 1.1 Ready to Rock!

We received an email from the folks at vlingo this morning letting us know that vlingo 1.1 is out of beta and ready to rock:

Starting today, vlingo 1.1 is out of beta and available to the general public. For those who have not yet heard, by just pressing the side convenience key, vlingo lets you speak into your mobile device to send emails and text messages, search the Web, open applications (BlackBerry Calendar, BlackBerry Maps, contacts etc.), dial your phone and send notes to yourself all from the phones idle screen. To upgrade to vlingo 1.1 or download for the first time, click here.

Vlingo 1.1 adds the ability to forward & reply to emails and text messages, as well as better connection handling. Vlingo 1.1 also addresses a few bug fixes. Full details of vlingo 1.1 can be found at http://www.vlingo.com.

As always, if you give it a go, let everyone know what you think in the comments!!

Will vlingo work for the Bold?

By: candidgyal | Date: Wed, 09/10/2008 - 11:39

I love it! Much better. Does what it says so far. Still testing other commands.

Notes:

1. I had the Beta version and when I opened the application today, there was a note about the new version.

2. Vlingo 1.1 has not been tested on OS 4.5 as yet. (I took the risk anyway).

3. You will be asked to reboot your phone (as expected).

Enjoy!

Can anybody confirm vlingo 1.1 working on blackberry curve 8310 OS 4.5 ? I went to the site to try this product out and it gave me a disclaimer that it had not been tested on OS 4.5.

Seems to work fine. Only problem I had was after the initial reboot, all incoming sound via the earpiece was dead. Did a soft reset and everything is fine.

Great download!!! Works great!!!

I have downloaded this to my Curve and my hair is turning grey trying to get it to work as promised. Accurancy is awful and time consuming to "repair" its mistakes. JOTT much better even though there is a charge. Worth the charge.

I think the app works pretty well. Voice recognition barely needs repeated. My problem with it is that you lose the threaded sms when you reply to a message using vlingo. If they fixed that I would use it more.

Download this software - it's great for those who don't like to type. I've downloaded it and like it a lot - amazingly it's FREE!

A few of tips - download directly using your bb - once you've installed go ahead and turn off the bb, pull the battery and restart - it'll recongnize the features better. Practice the commands and it gets better - lastly frequentl memory cleans help performance.

I get the following error message after I open the application:

Error starting vlingoForBlackberry_en: Module 'vlingoForBlackberry_en-4' attempts to access a secure API

Does anyone what this means and how I can fix it ?

Just loaded on my Curve 8330. It is a little quirky, but I think it will get better with a little practice. The voice recognition is pretty good, but you need to read closely so you don't send something inappropriate...Ooops...

Does anyone know how to tell Vlingo what email account to use for outgoing emails???

Ok, I am a bit of a geek, but this is one of the coolest programs I have seen in a while. Of course all my friends are calling me lazy, but I still have to push buttons and talk....So I am not really that Lazy????

It is fun so far, so we will see in a week or two?
