hahah Adam I can see in this one you started with a slightly monotonous voice :)

No installation of the screen protector? dislike :(

I had bought this but the back on the plastic part was extremely slippery. I did not like it at all.

I really enjoy having this case, I got it after it fell out of my holster with just one of the regular silicone BB Skins.
Doesnt add any bulk at all for me and it fits nicely in my old 9000 Bold belt case.
One thing I don't like about it though is the included screen protector. It's not as thick as previous ones that I had bought from Crackberry. its only been 2 weeks and the protector has a nasty scratch on it :-(
Good review though Adam!

I've only had it for 2 weeks for my Storm2 but love it. I didn't add the screen protector as I already had one on my phone. You don't buy a case for the screen protector. It is a great combination of hard case and silicone. No complaints from me.

I'm looking into getting one of these commuter cases. I just don't like added bulk or slippery feeling cases so I held back, but I may be obtaining one of these soon.

I just got this case in the mail and it's definitely a winner.

for a while now and all I can say is that its great. I've even recommended this case to a friend of mine who has the Bold 9700 and he said it's a winner. Great protection for those minor slip ups for me. I've dropped my Tour in the car a few times between the seats and it protects it will.

wish mine came with flaps

The only issue that I've experienced with my 9700 has to do with the buttons, the side-convenience keys are pretty difficult for me to operate from time to time having to press them several times to get the desired results, that's probably one of the only things that I like best from the 8900......to my point, I love the OtterBox Case specifically the Commuter and would purchase it in a heartbeat so I was really hoping to find out if once installed it would help me with my issue, sadly that item was completely left out during this review ! so I'm confused now.......not sure if the dramamine I took afterwards was worth it !!!!!
LOL..........Ray

I've had an OtterBox ever since my first BB, a lowly Pearl 8130. If you are something of a clumsy oaf like me, you'll truly appreciate the extra protection one of these cases will provide.

Have one but stopped using it due to the amount of lint it picked up when in my pockets

I love my case for home and for casual use, it does pick up lint in your pocket but it's easily picked off and if you're a guy it won't really matter to you.

These new commuter series OtterBox cases are not bulky at all. The designs are incredible. The Defender series provides the bulk (in a good way) for added protection. The Commuter Series leaves the bulk behind and provides a great deal of protection. I recommend these to all my friends.

Funny, I just got mine in the mail today.

I like it a lot but the flaps aren't sticking in as I like and its starting to irk me.

I stopped using mine and switched to an aluminum Monaco case instead. I only use cases when I'm out with my phone and take it out of the case for home and office use. The monaco case is a better choice for me if I happen to drop it when I'm out and about with the added hard plastic screen protector. I may put my Commuter case on ebay. And I too was not happy with all the lint it collected.

doesn't the 9700 have charging contacts?
wouldn't this be a PITA to use if you had a charging pod?

Posted by Adam Zeis Thursday, Feb 18, 2010 827 days ago

I said that in the video towards the end ... one of the drawbacks for me since I use the charging pod every night.

I have tons of cases for my 9700 that I've received to do reviews on, and none of them come close to the Commuter! Love this case!

this is one of the cases i've been looking to get, but would you be able to review the smart skin for the 9700 too? I'd like to know how easily the trackpad works even with a skin surrounding it.

We tried Otterbox with our initial BlackBerry smartphones and again with subsequent BlackBerries, however, audio/sound through the ports are buggy and negligible, making Otterbox cases functionally defective and completely worthless despite the level of protection offered!
