Verizon Taking BlackBerry Storm Advertising Seriously

Verizon BlackBerry Storm
By Kevin Michaluk on 22 Sep 2008 12:00 pm EDT

Look what the mailman just dropped off.. it seems following up with the newsletter/email sent out to people who registered for updates, Verizon Wireless is now sending out physical postcards to Verizon subscribers. The envelope says "Inside: Exclusive Invitation for Select Customers" (back side says "What will it feel like?" and within is the postcard photographed above. More images after the jump.

Is anybody else starting to find it funny that Verizon is all over the BlackBerry Storm while Research in Motion itself has yet to issue any sort of formal release or announcement???

Verizon Taking BlackBerry Storm Advertising Seriously

I don't believe BBP (Blackberry Polygamy) is on the law lists of do's or don'ts.

As long as the multiple BB's involved don't mind I think you should be good!

Fall officially starts today :D Maybe Verizon and RIM might do something special to "officially" kick off the season. Maybe an official announcement on the eve of Tmo and Google's G1 announcement/party tomorrow? :D

Seems clear that Verizon is making a real effort to steal thunder from the AT&T Bold (and get some revenge on the iPhone, too?). They are definitely trying to take advantage of AT&T focus on the iPhone to the detriment of its other high-end phones. So now, it looks like Verizon has the next hot thing and not AT&T with the Bold despite its eminent release.

I kind of feel that with all of this advertising they're doing, the phone is coming out sooner than November. I mean,, the emails, the postcard, the ad banners throughout the website...

This is probably just wishful thinking, but I think the original prediction of Oct. 13 looks pretty right to me.

I think Nov 1st (or around the time of..) is the expected date. Rob B mentioned it may come out earlier, but I think this is just the beginning of the marketing. Word has it that VZW is spending a lot of money on their marketing compaign for this phone. Furthermore, RIM has yet to officially announce the BB. So an Oct 13 date would be a little premature, dont you think? Wishful thinking... as I am one of the many people that has been salivating over this phone since CB reported it.

Lets just hope Blackberry doesnt disappoint us.

I suppose it might be a little premature. But if the story about the Storm in the UK is at all true, then supposedly RIM will be announcing the phone at the beginning of October. Again, I completely agree that this is wishful thinking, but it would be just lovely for them to come out and say something like, "I'm sure by now you've all heard of our touchscreen Storm. This will be in Verizon stores on Monday, October 13"

....Sometimes dreams do come true... =) ...sometimes....

Well keep in mind, Kevin is going to be attending the 1st RIM Developers Conference in Cali next month. I believe it starts on Oct 12th. So is a 13 October release date possible? If RIM follow's suit with an Apple type of announcement, maybe we will hear Lazardis say - "BOOM and it's available NOW" statement!!!

"Is anybody else starting to find it funny that Verizon is all over the BlackBerry Storm while Research in Motion itself has yet to issue any sort of formal release or announcement???"

Maybe it's in the contract for exclusivity that they must spend x amount in marketing. Or maybe RIM and Verizon marketing departments are working closely with each other..

Has anybody heard if when Alltel merges with Verizon will alltel customers be able to buy the Storm, I love my pearl but the storm would be awesome.

Hopefully we'll get confirmation soon that the 9500 is the same device as the 9530 storm, and we can get all of this "I wonder when (insert non-verizon US carrier here) will get the Thunder" bull. Maybe we can get some details on the "exclusive" timeline as well...

I wrote to customer service and asked when it would be available and if my New Every 2 would cover the cost of the phone. This was the reply:

i am so anxious for this phone i just hope it really lives up to all the hype. my contract is up and im ready for a new phone. i am patiently waiting for the storm and i will be very upset if i wait for it to come out and am disappointed. im just sketchy about the clicky touch screen, since its never been done before i dont know what to think

Just tried to post and it didn't work. Sorry if this appears twice. I'm on the Storm e-mail list (I signed up twice just in case) and did receive an e-mail from Verizon a couple days ago. I haven't received the latest "Coming Fall 2008" ad. Is it legit? Did any of you actually receive it? I can't wait for the storm and I really hope I stay in the loop!
