BlackBerry 8330 from Verizon WirelessJust ahead of CTIA Wireless 2008, Verizon has decided to release the BlackBerry 8330. It will be available from Verizon Wireless in May.

The 8330 will be available at www.verizonwireless.com and in Verizon Wireless stores including those in Circuit City. Pricetag will be $269.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract. Another $100 credit is going to be offered to customers that purchase the 8330 on qualifying voice and data plans.

It will come in the usual liquid silver color with all the good chrome highlights and smooth edges we've come to love about the Curve, and will run on Verizon's EV-DO network.

The new 8330 from Verizon will also be VZ Navigator capable. VZ Navigator is Verizon Wireless' location-based service that offers mapping, audible turn-by-turn navigation, and access to handy information on more than 14 million points of interest.

I'm sure Kevin will have much more on this once he starts reporting from CTIA... So stay tuned!!!

Yeah, but I bet my 8310 will still have more features thanks to Verizon's love of crippling.

Thanks VZW... Took long enough...

The GPS function will be gone, ( unless you pay it's VZ Navigator which is suck anyway).

Could you still use Google Map Triangulation though?

Yes, the triangulation feature will still work.

Will this have the World radio capability of the current 8830?

By: crackburriez | Date: Mon, 03/31/2008 - 13:33

no, the 8330 is not like the world edition.

yeh, no usage in Europe! It wont work like the 8830. Big mistake by them!

For most other CDMA carriers in north america, BGR has posted pictures of the curve for those carriers!

Side note... now that verizon has announced the release date for May, do you think any of the other carriers will still launch as speculated mid-april?

Bout time eh? This will probably be my next BB come Sept when my new every two comes around. Hope the pricing is a bit better w/ NE2. Wish it was the darker colored one as seen elsewhere though. Not a GPS person so the crippling of that feature doesnt bug me so much as the crippling of bluetooth does. O well, gotta take what we VZW customers can get.

Do I sense a smidge of sarcasm is that remark?

Is it going to have the regular stereo headset plug instead of the retarded small plug the 8830 has?

Does anyone know the release date in May... for the Curve 8330?? Need a Blackberry soon... or is the 8830 better??

Has anyone else had issues with the audio on this blackberry? I am on my second one (third is on the way) and I have had the same problem with both, every now and again I can not hear the person on the other end of the phone call but they can hear me. I have to do a "soft reset" take the battery out and then it is fine for a little while.

Yup..I'm on my third and my wife is on her 5th. Very annoying. Dont know what else to swap to??

I am a Verizon customer (Fios & Wireless). I need a Blackberry for work. My office gave me a new T-Mobile 8320 Curve. I need to use this phone. Otherwise I have to sign up for T-Mobile. Can I unlock it to work with Verizon?
