Verizon BlackBerry Tour Unboxing

Verizon Tour

The boys over at BGR and Engadget both got their hands on a Verizon BlackBerry Tour today and have posted the photos for us all to drool over. They made note of some final design details and snapped some great shots. Biggest news is that the back battery door has seen some changes (for the better) and according to BG looks good - It's got soft-touch rubber on the outer part and the inner part is a carbon-fiber material. Really, really sharp.

Head over to The Boy Genius Report and Engadget to check out all the photos and some impressions.

Can't wait to get my hands on one!

so you can order the ozone online, but not the TOUR? LAME!

By: hakoreh | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:02

what happened to VErizon having the dark bezel and Sprint having the silver one??

By: mkurz12 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 17:21

I was thinking the same thing but if you look a the BGR unboxing where he has his Bold next to it, it almost looks like the chrome is slightly darker. Could just be the lighting though.

Actually the Verizon Branded Tour we first saw pics of had the other battery door too so maybe removing the darker chrome ring for the lighter one was another change that they made.

So much win!

Too bad I actually like my Storm...and it's only 2 months old. I have no possible justification for this...

By: clpierce | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:10

By any chance will this be coming with a card like the Storm did? Any idea when I can get my hands on it at Verizon?

By: mixtape86 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:23

It will come with a 2gb card vs the Storm's 8gb card. Still a free card though :)

By: jacobfr | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:17

I currently have my storm and i love it, but the TOUR idk i looks nice, gonna play with it and i might just might get it. screen looks great.

By: nateshrk | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:18

hakoreh they always had it this way...sprint is the yellow one matching their company colors...

By: nateshrk | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:22

i am still undecided on which phone to get...the tour looks amazing and i really want the new age bb, but I also like the iphone a lot...there are definitely advantages to both...i wish bb had more cool apps...maybe you fellow crackberry addicts can help me decide...

By: qdenning | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:35

if you like cool apps & media & games and that's your focus get the iPhone.
if you want productivity, and the best messaging device on the market, get the Tour.
It's really that simple.

The iPhone is a device designed for fun that can also work. The BlackBerry is a device designed for work that can also have fun.

I am in the same boat. Out of contract with my nextel and looking for a faster network. Iphone or tour? Both priced the same with my discounts and family plan.

By: pathymo | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:31

but the batter door is ugly

By: b1gg134 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:42

I agree. The rubber coating makes it look VERY cheap and the carbon fiber looks totally out of place.

By: pathymo | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:51

You're out. Auf Widersen.

By: SilverLight98 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:41

Epic Fail!!!! Does this phone have a modern OS???!!! NOOOOO. WHYYYYYY???? Why would they make such a beautiful phone and not make a new and improved OS that can ACTUALLY compete??? EPIC FAIL! Its just a storm with a keyboard. I thought they were Research in MOTION! How does this phone show improvement and innovation? Talk to me when a new and improved OS arrives. GOODBYE RIM

By: Jessiboo719 | Date: Fri, 07/10/2009 - 19:54

I actually got to play with one of these yesterday and while it has the same operating system its nothing like the storm, it doesn't respond or behave in anyway like the storm. It is the fastest blackberry I have ever touched. I was extremely impressed. (I have had my hands on lots of blackberrys, I work at a cell phone store.)

By: pearlywhite | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 17:14

I should have held out and got this one. Instead I got the Pink Pearl (which I still love). The Tour looks so much like the Bold which is nice.

By: crackavelli | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 17:28

5.0 is coming out soon. so the tour with all it's glory will be even better with a faster os.

By: crysis63 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 17:57

5.0 will be coming to the bold too.

By: casperwhiteboy | Date: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 11:00

Justification? I think not. :p

By: wspoid | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 18:13

Would it be possible to unlock the Tour for a GSM carrier and use it purely on a GSM network? Since it's a world edition phone?

By: BuffDude | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 18:15

I miss the pre-Curve days when the box had everything the average user needed. I buy hundreds of these for my company every year, and it sucks to have to run out and find cases with belt clips everytime they change something.

By: howardvu | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 19:19

But it does come with a holster, check out picture #3 from Engadget

By: TallyDAWG | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 18:17

Because I HAVE to enter. I can no longer stand this Storm and due to all the up coming wedding expenses, I cannot afford full retail.

By: mixoplex | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 20:17

It looks cool. Its basically a 8900 but the keyboard is just from the regular 8830 world phone models. Just black. I like the back though it looks nice and rich.

the 8900 was dorkee with the fisher price back cover..

Why is it hard to have 3g, wifi, and UMA all together... Call the scientists

By: casperwhiteboy | Date: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 11:02

The Onyx is for...

By: supermann423 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 20:46

holster!

By: Hybrid4830 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 21:13

I thought they said this is a retail version but on the phone it clearly says its property of RIM and not for sale

By: gwtiff54 | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 07:32

Can't wait to get mine!

By: 3rd_Collective | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 08:41

I guess I feel a little privileged. I got a couple to test out last week.

By: BeauBurn | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 09:49

1. I love the back of it. Love the carbon fiber/rubber look. Much better than my storm. (I actually lost the back cover of my storm for a day because it comes off)

2. Including a holster is excellent. So happy about that.

3. I emailed someone at VZW and they said I qualify for some 1 year discount. Won't be full price and it won't be web price. Guess its better than nothing.

4. Will be able to dump this Storm. Not fun having a cracked screen for the last 4 months. :(

By: dzyuba | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 13:51

This should be way better than the Storm because you can never beat a physical QWERTY keyboard on a BlackBerry.

By: badwolf67 | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 15:16

"A Storm with a keyboard"...nice!

By: quartercounter25 | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 17:07

Why are all the pics dated 01/07/09?

By: howardvu | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 18:28

01/07/2009 translates to July 1, 2009 to much of the world

By: jstringham006 | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 19:14

Very pretty... Good call on the tour Verizon
