Verizon BlackBerry Tour Site Gets Updated: July 12th Release Official; Tour Pre-Ordering Available By Kevin Michaluk | 30 Jun 2009 00:30 | Some late night activity just sprung up in the CrackBerry forums on word that Verizon's BlackBerry Tour site has been updated, which confirms the previously rumored July 12th in-store availability date and also allows for pre-ordering of the device. At the time of this post the new site seems to still be propagating through (the site isn't showing up properly for everyone just yet and the preordering isn't quite working - it should be good to go soon), but you will want to jump over and take a look (click here if the main link below isn't working for you). The updated site also features a short Bloggers on the Tour video which features a couple of CrackBerry.com quotes about the BlackBerry Tour..... SWEET! The BlackBerry Tour definitely is the smartphone sooo many CDMA users have been waiting for. The release of the BlackBerry Tour is so close now. I guess it's about time we get ready for a CrackBerry contest huh? Stay tuned!!! If you're excited for the Tour, say CrackBerry!

Oh man, it is finally here!!! I stayed up late to confirm if VZW updated their website tonight and I knew CB would have an updated link. I can't believe the pre-order is not working yet. I'll try couple more time before I call it a night. But I will be up early trying again. Can't wait to get my hands on this baby!!
CRACKBERRY CRACKBERRY CRACKBERRY CRACKBERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
now all we need is Sprint to get their crap together and get theirs up...yeah, I know, not likely...
Crackberry! ..gosh I have been anticipating this for months!!
Yesterday I received my 3rd Storm replacement and am now wondering should I get the Tour from Verizon or leave them altogether and get it from Sprint..
Sad thing is I left Tmobile in November for the Storm and that was a horrible mistake :(
I'm even considering the iphone 3G, but I love my blackberries
I would definitely stay with Verizon. Don't base your decision off of how bad you experience may have been with the Storm, as it is mostly the phones fault. In terms of coverage, you cannot beat Verizon.
Sprint is horrendous. I cannot believe how long it took me to switch from them. I used to have to go all the way to the third floor of my building and stand next to a window to get one bar of service, and it still usually dropped the call.
With my current job I am constantly traveling, and have had little to no trouble with Verizon's coverage. In fact the only time I did have any trouble, was when I was in the middle of nowhere while down in Texas. Verizon definitely has its shortcomings, but you CANNOT beat their coverage.
Is that before or after a rebate? or no rebate at all?
That is before a rebate. I think I remember seeing a leaked image of a rebate form showing a $70 discount (mail in rebate)
the site isnt working for me, is anyone else having problems? did CB crash verizons site? lol
the site doesn't seem to be updated yet, what seems to be the deal?
Crackberry Crackberry Crackberry!! <3 <3 <3 I have been anxiously waiting for this phone for months now! Every time you guys update us with some juicy Tour info, I repost on Facebook and retweet on Twitter! A HUGE thank you to the Crackberry Team for keeping us updated on this device, like clock work, and a special thanks for keeping us all drooling and wanting more!
The VZW pre order link is now working!
Looks like shipments will begin on Monday July 13th for all pre orders.
I would be excited if I could get one. I just got the storm about 3 months ago.
I am eligible for my new every two, but when I click the "Upgrade Phone" option the Tour won't show up, any suggestions?
I'm in the same boat. I have my storm and am looking to use my new every two and am unable to use it to get my furthur discount. What gives? Maybe this storm is meant to be...
the rep is telling me to wait it out and see if it shows up later on. Its funny that new customers and pre order now but the ones with existing lines cant get the crap to work. Ive been on the phone and online with these reps and i cant get any answers.
I am in the same boat as other people trying to upgrade. The reps on the phone can't do it, and it doesn't show up under the upgrade option.
The rep finally came back and said that the pre-order was for new customers only.
So, I spend over a hundo a month on service. Pay my bill on time. And the "perks" go to new customers? If this thing is sold out on the 12th, hello AT&T Bold..
â€So, I spend over a hundo a month on service. Pay my bill on time. And the "perks" go to new customers? If this thing is sold out on the 12th, hello AT&T Bold..â€
Bye Bye , shall I hold the door for you?
Every pre order is for new customers only on all carriers. Because you pay your bill on time does not make you special. It makes you responsible and that my friend gets you nothing! Oh, preordering is not a “perk†it is a marketing ploy…
Apologies if this was already answered, but I did try and upgrade via the link and was also unable to do so. I called the local store, and they said they couldn't pre-order for me, but if I called customer service, they would.
Called customer service back and was told that because I am technically still in the middle of my contract (expires 12/5/09, but they moved my NE2 date to today), I can't pre-order. However, if my renewal date had passed (and I was going month-to-month, for example), I would be able to pre-order.
Don't know if that would work as that doesn't apply to me, but just adding some more information/confusion to this :)
How much is this going to retail for? I made the mistake of buying the Storm in December, and I won't get an upgrade discount until this December. I may as well pay full retail for the Tour. At least I'll have a decent BlackBerry.
The pre-order site shows $489.99 on a month-to-month contract, so I'm guessing this is the retail amount.

This comment may have already been made in some some form (or forum), but I have not seen it yet...What is the big deal about the "Tour". I have had a couple of blackberry Curves in the past, this seems very similar, as a matter of fact other than the Storm and the Flip phone, all the BB's seem to be about the same, I am not sure what the big hoopla is...I would love to know...I was contemplating getting the "Tour" (going from the Storm)...Thanks for any "constructive" input... :)
I agree, it's just a phone
The only main difference I see is the camera, possibly screen intensity, and the darker type theme.
Hopefully I am missing something.
It's an upgrade... It's new... I have a Curve now, so for people who don't like the Storm, it is an upgrade to the 8830 and 8330.
VZW didn't get the BB Bold. No earth-shattering device, but it is new..
And we all like to have the new toy on the block...
When I try to preorder the Tour through the upgrade process online, the Tour is not a phone available to select, but every other blackberry is. Anyone else having this problem?????? Is it only available to preorder with brand new accounts?
I'm having the same problem. I tried early this morning and just now and I can't do it. I may end up calling customer service just to see what they have to say.
Just got off the phone with customer care. The rep did not even know the Tour had been released, placed me on hold for 5 minutes, and informed me that pre-orders are NOT available for people who want to upgrade, it is only available for new activations. She said that supposedly you will be able to order the phone online a week before the actual due date, and that they learned their mistake from the Storm and have mass produced more Tours for launch. I think that this is bull that we cant pre-order the phone if were upgrading, doesn't verizon want to take care of its existing customers?????!?!?!?!?!?
the rep had no idea the Tour was release yet he/she knew that they have mass produced more Tours for launch than they did for the Storm? sounds hinky to me.
If that is the case, then that really sucks. Keep me updated, I'll going to stop by a store this weekend.
I'm going to try a chat and see if I can pre-order it with them.
I'm hoping this phone restores my excitement about Blackberry and Verizon. My 8130 is not cutting it anymore :)
So i just got off the phone with customer service, and they said you can only pre-order the device if you are eligible for an upgrade or are adding a new line. to me that seems stupid especially since I'm paying full retail and thats a lot of money.
