The only thing that was "accurate" was the price but no surprises here..

CRRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAM
Its about time Nov 13, 2008 at 8:31 am
Does a NE2 discount of $100 apply thus making it $99?
DJCG Nov 13, 2008 at 9:07 am
I was wondering the same thing.. my ne2 comes on the 31st of this month. Usually I get a $100 discount with it, so wondering if we'll be able to get this for $99.
pos190 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:31 am
Good news! If you have a $50 or $100 New Every Two credit on your account, you will be able to use that with the $199, potentially making your new Storm $99.99 after rebate!
DJCG Nov 13, 2008 at 9:47 am
Thanks! That is great news. Makes the extra week I have to wait for my ne2 to kick in, almost worth it. Hard to put off the storm for a week, but I'll manage.
Anonymous Nov 20, 2008 at 4:46 pm
I called today and Big Red said I was unable to use my NE2 discount.
webbie128 Nov 13, 2008 at 8:32 am
Does happy dance.
Man, I am so glad that this is over so I can get some work done. I think my coworkers are ready to string me up lol
I can not wait for next friday!!!
cap10mark Nov 13, 2008 at 8:29 am
I'm off of work with a foot injury, so I will be waiting at the store for them to open!
wILLZ10 Nov 14, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Any idea if Best buy will be geting it the same day?? If they don't I already have a spot picked out in the parking lot of the Verizon Store, TAILGATE!!!!!!!!!
UPDATE (November 14th 1:30pm): Best Buy just called my appoinment is Friday the 21st at 11am no need to wait in line!!!!!!! 199.99 - 50.00(deposit)I am glad that I waited to switch my wife's line from AT&T...... she gets the Curve I get the Storm!!!!!!!!
Anonymous Nov 18, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Just be careful. I had the storm reserved at best buy until today.
Found out if you upgrade your phone thru best buy, the storm will actually cost you $280, however if you upgrade at an actual VZ store it will be $199.
Don't know why there is that difference, probably best buy trying to get more money from ppl to increase their profit. I am bettering VZ doesn't give them a big of a pay out for upgrades as they do for new cx...
Kim817 Nov 13, 2008 at 8:40 am
but somethin is tellin me to wait a couple of months before i get it .
Dont want to deal with a buggy phone =/
ugh idk screw it im getting it !
lol.
nfoman Nov 13, 2008 at 8:45 am
Thats great news, now hopefully Telus and Bell will confirm a date.
ericiu Nov 13, 2008 at 8:48 am
WOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!
Gawain Nov 13, 2008 at 8:49 am
Does that mean I'll get a debit card mailed to me instead of a check? Other than that....exciting!!!
wILLZ10 Nov 13, 2008 at 8:50 am
about a month ago I received a rebate card from Verizon and the funds were actually transferable to a bank account... not sure if it will be the same but it is possible....
pos190 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:33 am
Verizon Wireless offers debit card rebates now instead of checks. The funds ARE transferrable to your bank account!
eMpTy43 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:25 pm
It is possible to transfer the funds BUT ONLY IF IT'S THE FULL $50. If you use the card for even one purchase, the transfer option is voided.
affguy Nov 13, 2008 at 10:01 am
If I understood your post on that other side correctly, you'll be getting two of them (just to keep the wife happy) ;-)
someone Nov 13, 2008 at 8:50 am
I will definitely be getting this on the 21st :)
webbie128 Nov 13, 2008 at 8:50 am
Gawain, that is correct. no check
BabiCakes Nov 13, 2008 at 8:50 am
Thank goodness I get paid on the 20th!!! About Time!!!
Anonymous 999 Nov 13, 2008 at 8:52 am
How can I wait until next Friday?!?!?!?
Storm obession Nov 13, 2008 at 8:48 am
The storm is 100 time better than the iphone. i cannot wait to get this phone. I have to pay the $520 price tag but it is so worth the money
eMpTy43 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:30 pm
I've never been a touchscreen fan but this phone kicks every other touchscreen phone's a$$. I'll be at my VZW store an hour before they open an hour early for this thing baby!
Anyone want to buy my VZW 8330 Curve (only has 1 or 2 scratches!) ?????
I figure Storm for $520 - Curve sold for $250 - iPod Nano 3rd gen sold for $100 = $170 for my NEW STORM! :) :) :) :)
Nov 13, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Why would someone buy a used & slightly scratched Curve for $250 when they can get a new Storm for $199? :-D
reyam Nov 13, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Hey moron, you haven't even touched a Storm. Don't try comparing it to an iPhone. You have nothing to base that stupid opinion on. The Storm's processor is not even as fast as the Bold's so you are not even getting RIM's best product. Oh, that's right, you need it to text your pimply faced 8th grade buddies about the Cheerleading Captain. Fag.
ABLTrojans Nov 13, 2008 at 8:50 am
I will be nowhere near work next friday. Cant wait!
new every two Nov 13, 2008 at 8:57 am
On october 26th my palm's speaker stopped working, so i went to the local verizon store to get it fixed. they told me that I would not be able to get it fixed and that i could use my new every two. i explained to them that i was holding out until the storm came out to get a new phone, and they explained to me that I could use my ne2 to get a phone and if the storm came out within 30 days of oct 26th, i could exchange my ne2 for the storm and pay the difference. Plus i have a $50 credit, so needless to say, im looking forward to 11/21
pos190 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:34 am
You do have 30 days, just remeber you'll be incurring an exchange fee when you change to the Storm!
jbates14760 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:43 am
just go to the store now and return your curve. Switch back to a junk phone for a week. Just sent my Curve back 2 weeks ago. No fees, no bs. That is unless you mailed in the rebate. If you did your screwed. Then it's gonna be full retail.
pos190 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:56 am
Verizon Wireless has a "Rebate SKU" for people who sent in their rebates but want to exchange the phone. It charges you for the $50 in-store that you get back in the mail. So you don't have to pay full retail.
jbates14760 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:44 am
Thank you I was not aware of that. I was told by a csr that once mailed in you were screwed. Should have known better than to trust a sales rep lol. thanks.
cant wait Nov 13, 2008 at 8:57 am
11/21 will be my senior skip day for a phone. yeah baby
jh4for5 Nov 13, 2008 at 8:58 am
There's no price or date on my screen when I click the link. Just the same page that's been up there.
linkkoriri Nov 13, 2008 at 9:06 am
What a sick birthday present! :O My B-Day is November 21st. ^_^ Any other BB Storm Birthday people out there? :D So I already have it booked off over a month ago. So no excuses needed. I just hope that Bell Mobility Canada takes the same release date.
spark09223032207 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:10 am
I knew it! The verizon website was unavailable at around 2 a.m., and I was praying that it was what i thought it was. YESSSSSS! The price is perfect, and perfect timing for Black Friday!
hacktheplanet Nov 13, 2008 at 10:15 am
Spark, black Friday is the 28th.
aketch Nov 13, 2008 at 9:11 am
Alright! It's about time! Now, if only I get an early upgrade offer because I'm not due til next June.
wooo whoo Nov 13, 2008 at 9:11 am
I have come up to my 2 yr trade-in period where I am actually qualified for a $150 off a new phone with Verizon if I resign a 2 year contract. No way will I pass up this deal for the Storm!
markcb Nov 13, 2008 at 9:12 am
in the great words of ali g - "boyashaka!"
mahen915 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:16 am
Next week is going to be a loooooong week.
scottlucky13 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:20 am
It shows up on the homepage for me. :) Looks like i will be a little late coming into work on friday! Man traffic was crazy!!!!
jedigeekhalo Nov 13, 2008 at 9:21 am
i will pass...i just got my blackberry curve 2 months ago. so maybe in a couple of years.
BrianFTC Nov 13, 2008 at 9:18 am
Storm obsession - where did you get the info saying it would be $520 as retail price? I am thinking about it but if it goes down a bit for the real holiday season in a week or two, I will wait....
Sidekick_Traitor Nov 13, 2008 at 10:56 pm
the price wont change in 3 months let alone 2 weeks...
if you've had your current phone for 6+ months, with a renewal you may qualify for discounted pricing even if your not up for your standard upgrade. (With Blackberrys sometimes mgrs are willing to upgrade early)
I have a curve and a voyager... im dropping my voyager and i'll have a curve and a storm... only problem is since i am a verizon employee i wont have it at launch.
MadtownTim Nov 13, 2008 at 9:27 am
It's also on the front page of the website.
MPSmith1 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:40 am
I don't see the $519 retail price on any front page, either VZW's or crackberry's. Could someone please direct me?
Thanks
eMpTy43 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:33 pm
It's probably on the 2nd page of the Crackberry blogs page with all the new info that's been posted in the last couple days...
bballfoshog6g50 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:27 am
I am for sure taking a BlackBerry Storm sick day!!
bballfoshog6g50 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:31 am
Does anybody know yet what they are gonna give you along with the phone??
pos190 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:37 am
Built-in global card, pre-loaded with 8GB micro-SD card, house charger, USB cable, BB desktop software, Verizon Wireless Access Manager CD (for tethering).
strhessed Nov 13, 2008 at 9:37 am
No holster ?? No headphones ???
jbates14760 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:44 am
Should have both in the box.
BabiCakes Nov 13, 2008 at 10:43 am
Listed on the Verizon Storm page it says in box will be:
- International Travel Charger
- Sim Card
- 8 GB Micro SD Card
- USB Cable
- Battery
....no mention of a holster or headphones. But if RIM follows it's standard they should be there.
Vin Nov 13, 2008 at 11:00 am
Is the home charger just a wall to phone charger or is it the chrome side cradle? I thought it said that was included long time ago, but seems less and less likely.
VoltaicShock Nov 13, 2008 at 9:31 am
The day before my B-Day this would have been a nice present to myself.
Funny thing is I was planning on taking this day off anyway - :P
I decided to get the Bold and just wait for this to come to AT&T - :)
pos190 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:39 am
Silly, Verizon's CDMA network has superior 3G coverage... I believe AT&T only has 40% coverage for 3G??
VoltaicShock Nov 13, 2008 at 9:51 am
AT&T 3G works very well in my area and I don't travel much outside this area, so it works well for me.
Nov 13, 2008 at 12:26 pm
You are correct. AT&T 3G is sparse in the US. If you read the fine print on the commercials and in the print ads you will see AT&T claims the largest 3G network when they include their partners networks in other countries. Its the other countries that have the great 3G coverage. US AT&T coverage alone is a joke compared to Verizon.
With the Storm you will have access to those same networks as AT&T with the GSM radios. For the US nothing beats the Verizon CDMA coverage area. Globally no phone will beat the coverage area for the Storm with its CDMA & GSM radios. Sorry AT&T and iPhone international users.
i want a storm so bad!! Nov 13, 2008 at 9:33 am
damn im not gonna be home from college till the afternoon of the 24th. i hope theyre not all sold out.....
G_Baby3 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:43 am
I LOVE IT I CANT WAIT I HAVE ALREADY PUT MY MONEY ASIDE.
Waiting... Nov 13, 2008 at 10:54 am
I got a invite for the version in-store event that runs from the 17th-21st... Does this mean I will be able to actually get a storm on the 17th or will I only be able to pre-order or play with the phone then and pick it up on the 21st?
capelro13 Nov 13, 2008 at 11:44 am
No the storm will not be available for sale until the 21st but you will be able to try out in a store around that time.
Willy123512351 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:44 am
I sure am glad I signed up weeks and weeks ago to Verizon's email list to get information on the Storm. I never received a single email on either of the two email addys I submitted. Get more info from CB than from the company, not a good sign of VZs customer service - makes me hesitant to switch.
imann101 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:41 am
i agree with that! Don't know why they even have that if youre not notified immediately. I bet this post was up 5 minutes after the site was changed.
Willy1235112351 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:58 am
Even better, I just 'chatted' with a VZ representative on their website and she said quote "we do not yet know the release date or price for this great new phone."
I said, "um, it's on your home page."
VZ clearly has no clue what is going on - this half-assed customer service crap would not happen at TMO.
Adam129091284 Nov 13, 2008 at 11:51 am
Probably true it wouldn't happen with TMO since your call would have been dropped right after you dialed in on that service..
angiebutterfly Nov 13, 2008 at 11:56 pm
For you, not me.
imann101 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:40 am
FINALLY. I was starting to worry that this would be the next bold! I wasnt ready to wait 5 months for it. Finally something concrete!
G_Baby3 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:45 am
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH IT WILL BE FLAT OUT
MPSmith1 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:05 am
No. At least I sure can't find it listed anywhere.
People are throwing around $519 this morning.
G_Baby3 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:27 pm
IT WILL BE AROUND 550
Gaget Nov 13, 2008 at 9:49 am
That is my off Friday! WoOt. I will be there a hour early to see if there are any tailgaters!
Thanks Verizon!
eager2own Nov 13, 2008 at 9:46 am
This is great news -- I really wanted this before going out of town for the week of Thanksgiving.
Now we can start speculating when next week stores will have in-store demos so that we can "test drive" the Storm before Friday.
Valace2 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:53 am
Can really express how happy I am. And on top of that I telecommute on fridays and have an upgrade available to me from a relative on my family plan. Woohoo. Yep that's it woohoo
Valace2 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:53 am

penn.state.ats Nov 13, 2008 at 9:55 am
I'm shaking with joy right now hahahaha...I just called Verizon and she said that for sure there will be plenty stocked so they won't run out like the original iPhone launch most ATT stores ran out. I'm so stoked!!!!
BBA Nov 13, 2008 at 9:56 am
And vodafone?
Achronas Nov 13, 2008 at 9:57 am
the 21st....exactly 3 months before my birthday.
I would say perfect birthday present.... but im getting this baby next Friday!!!!
harcal Nov 13, 2008 at 11:05 am
I have seen pictures of the Storm resting in a cradle to be used as a desktop clock. Does anyone know the pricing or availability of this item?
This is the chrome cradle that another person was asking about.
DawnGP143 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:18 pm
I remember seeing a leaked copy of a list of accessories for the Storm, and it showed the cradle to cost $29.99
gocougs Nov 13, 2008 at 10:01 am
Gimme.
Nov 13, 2008 at 10:06 am
I am already a Verizon customer; so what's the full retail going to be?
Anonymous76767 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:03 am
Best Buy is taking pre orders with a $ 50.00 deposit and the same pricing as if you were in a verizon store...
They will call you when the truck comes in...
Anonymously Fresh Nov 13, 2008 at 10:12 am
I Will Def. Be The Owner Of A Storm Because 11/21 Is My Day

Will the 11/21 release date also be for Best Buy?
chrys7 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:21 am
Not me Im getting 5 Delivered to my office Monday morning.
Spartan616 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:27 am
so is the price for business customers still $89.99? or is it higher/lower
phatone Nov 13, 2008 at 10:33 am
The Storm should be in stores by the 17th if you want to go check it out. I got a card in the mail from Verizon about a private sale from November 17-21, and the phones pictured include the Storm. I'm personally going to wait to buy it in case there are some bugs/quirks in the released version like the first iPhone that came out.
69copo Nov 13, 2008 at 10:29 am
I can't wait to get my hands on this. I've been following the development on this for awhile now. I am getting mine mailed to me when they arrive in the warehouse. I think I feel a cold comming on. :)
lazyyboy00 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:30 am
Is there any word on how many phones they are going to have at each store or what the possible camping out situation is going to be? because I don't want to show up an hour early n realize there's 150 people waiting in line already and unless I know I'm not going to be able to sleep at night
jazzy55 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:36 am
I wish I had a time machine so I could get in it and fast forward to 11.21.08.
Kizmatic83 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:34 am
WOOOO WHOOOOO!!!! Finally the guessing game is over!!!
Edgy Nov 13, 2008 at 10:40 am
Quick question....I'm eligible for a new every two discount, can I still get the discount if I preorder the Storm through BB? I'd rather do this since I can guarantee the phone now as opposed to waiting in line on the 21st.
Also...I get some pretty good corporate discounts, I wouldn't expect to get one on the Storm but just in case...does BB do those as well? I know they do for AT&T.
BB Virgin Nov 13, 2008 at 12:40 pm
I went to Best Buy yesterday to reserve the storm and was told I could use my new every 2 discount. As far as the corporate discounts.... my company makes me order from a specific website in order to get the discount. I don't know if they are all like that.
RyM17 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:42 am
Is the plan going to be the current blackberry plan pricing or are they making new plan pricing like was rumored awhile back?
sdmilton Nov 13, 2008 at 10:43 am
i just spoke with my vzw rep. she should have them a day early and will have 4 of them babies waiting for me.
damn i cant wait!!
Will N. Nov 13, 2008 at 10:46 am
This is a sweet deal!!! BTW I clicked on the link and could not see the release date anywhere on Verizon's site???
Yo!!! Cal... get ready to cancel your AT&T iPhone contract...LOL
Will
The answer you entered for the captcha challenge was not correct... 7 times in a row???
MadtownTim Nov 13, 2008 at 10:49 am
If you have a NE2 discount, BB will match the price as if you were in the store getting it with the NE2. From what I understand, they will also be discounting to eliminate the need for the mail-in rebate.
Lazyboy - in regards to your question, if the demand is so great that people in line, or that come in after stock has been depleted, Verizon will be more than happy to ship one to you (2-day FedEx) for free. You will get a voucher for one that day and it will get sent to you via FedEx. Just make sure the address that you're shipping it to will have someone 18+ y/o to sign for it. It doesn't necessarily have to be your home. If you can ship to work, then by all means, do so.
MadtownTim Nov 13, 2008 at 10:50 am
Will N - just look on the front page of http://www.verizonwireless.com It's at the top.
Tumaz04 Nov 13, 2008 at 10:51 am
Well it's about flippin time. I'm all excited now, woohoo! Funny though, cuz I won't be gettin it till later, haha. Maybe I'm just excited for you guys, huh?
harleyrider Nov 13, 2008 at 10:51 am
I have a Curve that I have only had a few months but I want the Storm. How can I get it without paying retail.
Khody Nov 13, 2008 at 10:51 am
Anyone else notice on verizons spanish site, the storm does not appear??
Cant wait till the 21st!! free storm!
romble Nov 13, 2008 at 10:53 am
Great.. but what about Telus.. come on throw us a bone of info!!
CasyCasy Nov 13, 2008 at 10:48 am
Oh Yeah!! I'm so inline.... In fact, I'm pretty sure my contact is holding one just for me.... So even she get's one it's mine, all mine, mine, mine, mine.... hahaha
MadtownTim Nov 13, 2008 at 10:54 am
Harleyrider - The least expensive way of doing it is add a line to your current plan, drop the data package on your curve and you're only paying $9.99 for your curve then. Or, find someone else to take over your Curve and you get the storm.
peterlwin Nov 13, 2008 at 11:20 am
How about this? I have a few lines under my account. My line is not avaiable for upgrade untill 12/29/08. But two other lines are avaiable for upgrade on 11/24. Can I upgrade one of those lines with discounted pricing, then switch the phone back under my number?
storm winner Nov 13, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Dude... just wait the extra month, much easier. I'm not eligible until 2/2010, so I have some REAL workarounds!
Anonymous6 Nov 13, 2008 at 2:05 pm
ask the rep to do an alternate upgrade. it uses the upgrade from a line that's eligible and it actually upgrades the line with your number.
cant wait Nov 13, 2008 at 11:20 am
Does anyone know if there is a way to run google maps on this????
eager2own Nov 13, 2008 at 11:19 am
yes... download it.
eager2own Nov 13, 2008 at 11:20 am

eager2own Nov 13, 2008 at 11:18 am
Ha! I just got my email from vzw to announce the release date and price -- hours after reading about it here.
Smoothsrce Nov 13, 2008 at 11:30 am
Hey guys I have a question for you. Will I be able to use the Verizon Storm with a Vodafone sim card?
Gaget Nov 13, 2008 at 11:34 am
got the flyer in my email too. how much with this phone run my monthly?
I use the 450 min plan for 39.99 and 10 bucks for texting. I pay 50 now. Luckly I use V2V. my whole family and friends are Verizon. Shit.. i should just get a free phone for that lol
So im thinking 39.99 for 450 min..and whatever it cost for data.. unlimited for browsing. any thoughts?
jjcote21 Nov 13, 2008 at 11:39 am
I just got my email about this from Verizon! Now I have to wait for my company to approve this device for support. I hate working for the man...but I like free Blackberry's and service!
Anonymous 123 Nov 13, 2008 at 11:43 am
Should/Can I add this to my family plan? Is there any discount plan wise for that... or is that not even an option? I know we're required to get National Email, which is atleast 79.99 a month... but are there family plan discounts?
swissiefanatic Nov 13, 2008 at 12:01 pm
I am in the same boat.
I called VZW and they said that the additional cost to my current family plan would be $30 per month to add the nationwide email for BB's.
I can't wait for the STORM!
Gaget Nov 13, 2008 at 11:49 am
450 and unlimited data plan is 99 right? if you are eligible for a corporate rate it is 79.99 .
jaffebr1 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Will there be enough phones in stock/ in the warehouse to meet the demand?
danieljm94 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:17 pm
So glad I took off the whole week of Thanksgiving. I'll definitely get one that Friday and have a full week to mess around on it before getting back to the grindstone in December.
Jaffebr1, they claim to have the stores stocked to the hilt with this phone so they don't have shortages. That said, smaller markets might run out but major cities should be good to go according to those in know.

Anyone know how I can get around paying full price for the device even though I'm not up for a contract renewal with Verizon until late February? I wanna get one of these for my Bday which is next month. Any ideas?
bootsmcgavin#cb Nov 13, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I can answer a couple questions, and make a couple corrections...
You will not be able to drop the data on the Curve if you leave it as a secondary line. Blackberries require web and email for Blackberry.
You will be able to use upgrades from another line on your family plan to get the phone under your own line.
You would be able to use a Vodafone SIM card, but first you would have to call the corporate customer service to have the phone SIM unlocked.
A 450 minute plan with data is not even close to $99.99. Even if you need corporate email, the plan is only $79.99 normally. If you don't need corporate email it's $39.99 and an additional $29.99 for web and email for Blackberry. A $99.99 would be 450 mins with unlimited messaging, web and email, and corporate provisions.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for clearing that up boots. I use lotus notes at work but the question is do I really want to be tied to work if I am not requested too... I think not hehe.

So I pre-ordered my Storm through Best Buy, is the 21st the release date for them too?? or is it like normal and will be available the day after??
Nessier Nov 13, 2008 at 1:04 pm
I got a call from Best Buy this morning within an hour of receiving the Verizon 11.21.08 release date email and Best Buy claimed that Verizon "pushed the release date back to November 24th." I said I just got an email saying it was the 21st and she said they pushed it back and it will be waiting for me on the 24th.
I find it hard to believe that after waiting so long to release an official date Verizon would push it back so soon after sending the email out. Anyone know anything about this?
Nov 13, 2008 at 4:37 pm
When I asked about the Storm at Best Buy, they told me that whenever Verizon released it, they would get it a few days later, just because Verizon wants the initial burst of sales all to themselves.
rich92701 Nov 13, 2008 at 12:47 pm
So are the stores opening an hour early for the Storm?
washablepaint Nov 13, 2008 at 12:49 pm
I'm new to the BB and plan to get a storm as my first one :) Question is which data package do I go with? I'm just a consummer but love email, web, etc.. We have unlimited txt already on our plan. Is there a link showing where 3g coverage is. What to make sure my town has it.
melaqueen Nov 13, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Hi All,
I am a current Verizon Wireless Blackberry Curve customer not eligible for another upgrade until February 2009. However, I can NOT and SHALL NOT wait until then to get my hands on a STORM! :-)
Are there any rumors circulating as to what the RETAIL pricing is going to be for customers like me? I've placed calls to Verizon this morning, and it appears they are being "hush hush" as it relates to releasing this info.
I want to be sure I have enough CASH in hand when I walk in the store next Friday to purchase MY STORM, but I don't want to pay a RIDICULOUS price either!
chuckh0308 Nov 13, 2008 at 4:00 pm
I'm in the same situation. Don't quote me on this, but if I remember correctly you will get a discounted price, but maybe not the full discount. Seems like last time I did that I paid $50 more than whatever your new every two year price would be (which I *think* will be different than the price shown here)...assuming I am correct. Hopefully someone else will speak up who knows more.
I don'te even need a new phone and I'm actually happy with the phone I have, but I have the new phone bug and I WILL get the Storm! :)
Cinn Nov 13, 2008 at 1:01 pm
I also pre-ordered thru best buy and I just gave them a call. They didn't have any idea that the release date was next Friday. They also don't know if they'll have them on the release date. They did confirm that if you pre-ordered it, you will have one in hand when they do get them. I'm hoping they do have them on the 21st. It would be a wonderful thing!
James Justified Nov 13, 2008 at 1:12 pm
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
New plans for my day off the 20th and 21st
20th: pick up paycheck
21st (bright and early): GET THE STORM!!!!

Screw the Iphone, the STORM is here!!
Desizra Nov 13, 2008 at 1:16 pm
i am definitely taking a sick day... have been waiting for this release date for forever... now it's finally here ... so happy
Lyna Nov 13, 2008 at 1:12 pm
I am!!!!!!!!!!! I just cant wait.
BlakGost Nov 13, 2008 at 1:28 pm
So anybody see any good deals to buy Storm 9500 (GSM SIM card version) unlocked? I hate contracts, but MUST have this phone. I've been waiting for what seems like FOREVER along with the rest of my loyal Blackberry fanatics!
slvradoskinbabe Nov 13, 2008 at 1:38 pm
I just called my local Verizon store and some chick I was talking to stated that she put me on a waiting list but that the phone does not come out until the 24th. I told her i got an e-mail from verizon stating it showed it coming out on the 21st and she said that no store will have it in stock until the 24th. anyone else run into that or is she just dumb like most verizon employees in CA!?
anon Nov 13, 2008 at 2:21 pm
The telesales group is confirming availability on the 21st
tahoerob Nov 13, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Sick day already SCHEDULED!!!
cobizzle Nov 13, 2008 at 1:44 pm
If not a sick day, then I'll definitely be inexplicably late to work on Friday.
Nice that it drops the day after my contract ends with Sprint.

So I just called Verizon to make sure that date the phone gets released and it is for sure on the 21st. The guy I talked to also said that if you bring in the flyer that was e-mailed out to you that they can give you the phone for the 2 year contact price even if you are not eligible for the upgrade.
BrianFTC Nov 13, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Are you serious???
knowitall Nov 13, 2008 at 3:34 pm
this is absolutely false !
please don't bring hopes up for people like this, how can bringing in the flyer make it possible for anyone to get contract price.
slvradoskinbabe Nov 13, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Dont blame me, I was just repeating what the verizon guy said to me.... so get mad at him. I was confused by it too, but he said they will honor the flyer.

I called the store and they just laughed at me saying "who told you that??" Does anyone else received the same response saying they would honor $199 (or $249) with the flyer?
tomjc422 Nov 13, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Help! I bought a Dare with new service on 10/18/08, my 30 day return period is up 11/17/08. Is there anyway I can trade for the Storm? I thought about cancelling all together, but I'd lose the phone number I've had for years. Thanks for your help!
Anonymous1 Nov 13, 2008 at 4:49 pm
dude, just cancel and get a new number. send everyone you know, your new number. its not that big of a deal and you really wont miss much other than having to memorize your new digits. think about it this way.. celebs have to change their numbers ALL the time and they have a ton of important contacts in the business.. they manage just fine :P
BTW! its effing ANNOYING that cb.com allowed someone to register as "anonymous" or w/e cuz i always have to change the name to something random now as its taken.
Bunbury Nov 13, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Just checked with our corporate account rep and she'll place my order for Friday delivery next week. I'm somewhat nervous about buying the phone sight-unseen, but I have my 30 days at least. I'm stoked, I think it will be just the device I need.
vthokie Nov 13, 2008 at 3:32 pm
okay, so i'm not eligible for the upgrade until march 2010, i can't wait that long, so could i add another line for 9.99, then after the 30 day period, just switch the phones since i already have a pearl? or just buy a cheapie replacement to cover that extra line so i can get the store at the 199.99 price. I'm not sure if that'd work but is it a possibility or is there just no way for me to get the phone at that price :-\
knowitall Nov 13, 2008 at 3:32 pm
What a relief ! Finally official news of its release.
Im really glad that its only $199 with contract extension, direct competition with the iPhone and its smart they priced it this way.

chuckh0308 Nov 13, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Like normal, the first thing I did when I woke up this morning was check my email for something...anything...from Verizon and there it was!!!
I probably won't go to the Verizon store to get it because I hate shopping, but I will be up all night next Thursday refreshing the Verizon pages until it tell me I can order it! :)
Yay!!!!
rerickson Nov 13, 2008 at 3:56 pm
So if I understand correctly, the $200 price requires a 2-year commitment to at least Verizon's "Data plan: email & mobile web" for $30/mo, plus 2 years on a voice plan (which can be your existing plan).
Given the likely store lines, what's been the experience with telesales? Do they ship quickly for a reasonable charge?
jazzy55 Nov 13, 2008 at 4:07 pm
vthokie....You could activate another line for 9.99 and then switch the phones but keep in mind that since both phones are BlackBerrys that you will have to pay the extra 29.99/mo for the "email & web for blackberry" feature on both lines. Now if you have another phone laying around that's not a pda you could use that one for the secondary line and not have to pay the 29.99/mo for the bberry feature.
Or you could just cancel the 2nd line after you switch the devices and then pay the 175.00 early termination fee. Which is probably cheaper than paying the full retail price which will probably bee around $500.
vthokie Nov 13, 2008 at 4:53 pm
hmmm yes! i think I can get an old phone from my stash and just have that line there for just the heck of it. I mean I pay like 130 to verizon every month because I have everything, so 9.99 won't kill me for an awesome phone. haha now to decide what time to get there on the 21st.
vthokie Nov 13, 2008 at 6:04 pm
I went ahead and called Verizon just to make sure I could do this, and the tech said I could, no problems, and I totalled it up, I still come out about 200 cheaper than buying it out right and that's before selling my pearl. so if you're stuck without a rebate, it's still a good deal, I would think to just add a second line for a little while, then just cancel, you'll still be cheaper with the 199 price tag, plus 175 cancellation. I can't wait. I'm already looking for cases and anything I can get my hands on for it.
jazzy55 Nov 13, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Cool! I'm glad you worked it out. I was thinking about getting Invisible shield because I want to protect my Storm but don't want to add any extra bulk to it.
Lyna Nov 13, 2008 at 9:12 pm
We got that on my boyfriend Voyager and I think it did more damage than good. Moisture seemed to collect between the shield and the screen, we had to take the phone back to Verizon for a replacement and all the sides peeled of within a month. Plus it was $50.00!
Jim Anderson Nov 13, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Got my Storm mailer today. Private sale. Invitation only. I can get mine starting 11/17.
Can't wait!
Mike T12321 Nov 13, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Who didn't get the "private sale" invite? If that was the case everyone would have their storms on the 17th. Sorry to burst your bubble but you will have to wait just like the rest of us.
Jim Anderson Nov 13, 2008 at 5:45 pm
So verizon is lying to me, eh? Even those I spoke with on the phone? I'll post something monday to let you know if I have it...
VZWM Nov 13, 2008 at 8:01 pm
They are not lying in the flyer. It is listed in the flyer as "introducing." It will not be for sale prior to the 21st.
BlackberryUser99 Nov 13, 2008 at 6:22 pm
OKAY PEOPLE.....So anybody see any good deals to buy Storm 9500 (GSM SIM card version) unlocked? Verizon sucks and I hate contracts, but MUST have this phone. I've been waiting for what seems like FOREVER along with the rest of my loyal Blackberry fanatics!
Reddy Nov 13, 2008 at 10:27 pm
OK- now I can rag on Big Red with the best of them, but why on earth would you WANT an unlocked Storm? You can't use AT&T or T-mobile 3G services with an unlock and there's no Wi-Fi chip on the phone for hotspots... any data access would just be painful!
It seems pretty pointless to even try and have a Storm with anything but VZW in the USA. You may as well have a Viewty...
Anonymous1000 Nov 14, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Okay, anyone have any answers instead of opinions? Simple question. THX.
sesso Nov 13, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Ill be waiting at the door LOL
MDFinny Nov 13, 2008 at 6:57 pm
I am thinking about switching from TMO to get this but I get slammed on the plan. I have a 1500 minutes plan now for $59.99 plus the $20 BB add on. Verizon would be almost double that. Anyone out there know if they match competitors plans or have any advice for me?
Thanks
Anonymous1 Nov 13, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Once again here comes verizon with the great deal for the new customer and nothing for the loyal vzw crackberry addict.
snoopy42 Nov 13, 2008 at 7:33 pm
If you get a VIP card in the mail you can get the Storm on Monday the 17th.
VZWM Nov 13, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Unfortunatly, not true. It is not going to be for sale in the event until the last day, the 21st.
penn.state.ats Nov 13, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Wait. I get an employee discount from Penn State on certain stuff like my bill. When I bought the Pearl I think I got 18% off of the device....am I remembering correctly? Would that apply to the Storm, too?
VZWM Nov 13, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Phones do not get a flat rate off depending on the employer. They are set pricing based on how many lines the company has. Doubt there would be a price break for the storm but not sure yet.
VZWM Nov 13, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Sorry. Meant they do not get a percentage off. It is a specific discount by model.
quiet storm Nov 13, 2008 at 10:20 pm
I called the VZ number and they said that I can pick it up on Monday cuz im a VIP. He said they only mailed it out to 8000 members. Not sure if its real..but ill be there monday
jbates14760 Nov 13, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Being a vip customer myself with the mailing in hand. I can say that if they told you that they lied. You can get a great deal on a new phone but you won't see the storm till release day.
penn.state.ats Nov 13, 2008 at 8:26 pm
oh i thought i got off for devices. crap!
3083joe Nov 13, 2008 at 8:59 pm

chuckh0308 Nov 13, 2008 at 9:43 pm
I was cleaning out my gym bag tonight and found an envelope from Verizon that has been in there for at least two months and I had never opened. On the front it said "what will it feel like?" Sure enough, inside was a card that said "coming Fall 2008" and a picture of the Storm. I'm glad I didn't open it until now...the wait from way back then would have been torture! Just in the two weeks or so that I've known about the Storm I've been going crazy!
AAnonymous Nov 13, 2008 at 10:12 pm
its sad that rim didnt release a new blackberry all summer long while everyone was buying iphones. now they wanna release the bold, storm and curve 8900 all within a 2 or 3 month period. no wonder their stock is going down the drain.
Reddy Nov 13, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Hurry quick and buy in now. It's gonna skyrocket when these new lines sell thru the roof!
I myself wondered why everyone was surprised at RIMS's 3Q results. What do you expect from a commpany that's spent 5 months ramping up for a major, major market push? 1 bad quarter doesn't mean anything at all, even with teh shitty economy around us.
(If you can't recognize sarcasm when you hear it, you deserve to buy telecom stock...)
drkeng Nov 13, 2008 at 10:23 pm
I've got the day off-I only work a 4 day week. Wonder if I should preorder. Will be my first BB. Hope to try it out this weekend.
reyam Nov 13, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Anybody who would take a sick day to pick up a mobile device seriously needs to get a life. Stay in your Mother's basement, play World of whatever it is you and geek friends play and stick to looking at women online and pretending you are successful. F'ing dorks......
URALLGAY Nov 13, 2008 at 10:50 pm
It's so funny that all you geeks "can't wait" and "have a parking spot picked out at Verizon" to get a product that hasn't even been reviewed. You're all a bunch of sheep. The funny thing is that business users want fast speeds, wi-fi, etc. That's why the Bold is the real deal and why it's the superior product. You nerds want to IM the guy (that you think is a girl) and try and impress him. Wow, I hope your Mother's impressed with your new purchase because God knows you don't have girlfriends/boyfriends. Anyone tell you freaks that you could have a time machine on your wrist and you'd still be a loser?
penn.state.ats Nov 13, 2008 at 10:59 pm
I dunno about everyone else but I'm fully educated, I've researched what independent reviewers have said, I've seen the info that's coming out. Also btw, I'm a hot chick who gets laid when I want, no need to impress my husband with a BB. I think the real loser is someone who takes joy in bashing strangers because they are excited about something.
May I suggest removing the jagged stick from your butt? And possibly getting off of the Storm boards if you are so angered by them? (And so clearly jealous that you have a Bold and tiny man-bit)
Anonymous1 Nov 14, 2008 at 2:27 am
well said girl
Reddy Nov 13, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Not much of what you've said here holds up under any kind of scrutiny.
VZW has NEVER released a Blackberry with Wi-Fi. NEVER and they still have many, many hundreds of thousands of RIM devices on the network because the typical business man needs email access AND a phone that can actually complete and hold calls over 98% of the time. He could care less about YouTube and video-conferencing on a handheld. Every minute of my life that I spend in a Wi-Fi bubble, I've got my laptop or desktop computer less then 30 feet away- why would I care how fast data lands on my PDA, anyway? It's the service in the taxi cab in Kansas City that matters for a portable device.
The only thing the Bold has that can be called in any way superior to the Storm is the Wi-Fi. The Physical keyboard is definitely a differentiator, but it can't be called an advantage for either phone- just a personal preference.
I think you're the one who needs to climb out of the hole and respect someone else's opinion. I don't care what carrier you have or what phone you use, there's nothing wrong with wanting a hot Blackberry Storm.
BTW- If YOU are already in possession of a Bold, then YOU are just as much a sheep as any Storm-wanter. That phone has been out less then 10 days in the USA. Do you think a week and a half is long enough a release window to declare something THE KILLER BLACKERRY OF ALL?
Get with it...
smontoya2 Nov 13, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I am new to this web site & offer advice to anyone who anticipates on waiting in line at a store. I reserved my Storm at a local Best Buy store last week with a refundable deposit of $50.00 if you choose to purchase or not when they are available on official release day. I currently use a bb for business & would like to intergrate personal & business on one phone so i am excited & am in time for my E2 program for a $100 discount. OK now i know why they call'em Crackberries is because they are so addicting.(Noob!)
browneyes535 Nov 13, 2008 at 11:13 pm
I just switched to Verizon and I'm returning my phone I just got before my 30 days are up to get the Storm, so will I still be able to get it at the $199 price?
Fernando Alcantara Nov 13, 2008 at 11:35 pm
My last two phones were the Blackberry Curve and the Pearl before that. I can't wait for the Storm, and since I still own both those phones, I will be using the Blackberry TradeUp program to get some money to finance the purchase of the Storm.
I think I'll be calling in sick on the 21st... anyone else?
Fernando

I think that they should have a early launch event for current BB users. Having several on my account and I am sure others may as well, being loyal BB users, that would be great! I will wait after work, however, I think the doc needs to see me. Prior to work he says.. at 9am.. I will be there Doctor...Storm
URALLGAY IS LAME Nov 13, 2008 at 11:46 pm
HEY URALLGAY.. ever think that VZW doesn't use WIFI because ATT speeds are slow so anything to help them would be great. I have personally put my curve next to an iphone. Their 3G took about 2 times longer than mine. That said WIFI is needed to help them. Either way, your lame cuz all you can do is talk about others when you yourself are reading sites and not going off the real product, in your hands. So, just admit, you want the storm, I bet you will be in line for it!!!
Big Hern Nov 14, 2008 at 12:04 am
I have been in love with this phone since I first caught wind of it on crackberry.com. I stayed up to date and followed the hype like everyone else. I told my girlfriend, all I wanted for Christmas was the Blackberry Storm. Nothing, else just that. I am dropping $3,000 on a holiday vacation for us and all I want is the Blackberry Storm.
Well this dream was shattered when I have to wait until AUGUST for my upgrade to get it. What am I going to do with the Storm in August! As you can tell I am extremely bitter and Verizon just dropped in my eyes for this stupid upgrade crap. I don't understand why they just won't let people renew contracts when they want. I mean your giving them 2 more years of business and leaving the customer extremely satisfied.
I am happy for all of you who will be getting the Storm. I hope it is just amazing as all the stories and videos say it is. But I will be that one sad guy with no Storm...sad face.
All a kid wanted for Christmas was his two front teeth. Another kid wanted a pair of shoes for his mom and her death bed. All I wanted was a Storm...super sad face.
Salty!
Christopher Case Nov 14, 2008 at 12:48 am
I am completely in the same boat as you and feel the same exact way. I bought the curve through verizon the day it was released and I don't care about re-newing my contract for another 2 years. Just as long as I can get the new blackberry that I want for the new user price. It doesn't make much sense since ALL VERIZON (or any other carrier wants) IS FOR YOU TO BE LOCKED IN FOR 2 YEARS. I'm not leaving Verizon, just give me the Storm for $200 bucks vs. $500+ and I'll be extremely satisfied. And by the way, who expects a customer to own the SAME device for 2 years?!
chuckh0308 Nov 14, 2008 at 1:28 am
It's really not that hard to use the same phone for two years! ;) I certainly understand the new phone bug, but if I had to I could wait...there's nothing wrong with my current phone.
Christopher Case Nov 14, 2008 at 1:38 am
Haha, yea man it is tough when you have every gadget known to mankind and that shiny new gem of a Storm is shining in your face. The longest I've gone with the same device was 17 months and it was absolute torture. In fact, about 5 months of it was spent waiting on the darn curve!
chuckh0308 Nov 14, 2008 at 1:37 am
I'm still trying to wear out my current phone so it's easier to justify a new one. :) I'm failing though. Maybe I should get the hammer out?
chuckh0308 Nov 14, 2008 at 1:16 am
Not sure exactly what your situation is, but if you're on a two year plan now than you should be elligible for a discount. My current two year plan expires in April and I'm elligible now for one year discounted pricing if I agree to another two years. This is what my upgrades screen says:
"Eligible for Annual Upgrade with discounted pricing. Two year renewal required.Eligible for New Every Two discount on 4/01/09.Two-year renewal required.Your contract end date is 08/01/09"
This is what the main agreement section states:
"How is my upgrade price calculated?
By extending your contract, you may qualify for a discounted price, depending on when you last purchased a new phone at a discounted price, and your contract term.
- Customers on a one-year contract may upgrade at a discounted price after 10 months.
- Customers on a two-year contract may upgrade at a discounted price after just 20 months.
Plus, if you're currently enrolled in our New Every Two program*, you will be eligible for an additional discount with a two-year contract extension.
You may always choose to upgrade without extending your contract at full retail price.
Annual Upgrade available for My Verizon customers
You can get a new phone every year with Annual Upgrade. Sign up for a 2-year agreement on a calling plan of at least $49.99 and you can purchase a new phone at its promotional price through My Verizon every year with a 2-year renewal (upgrade fee may apply).
New Every Two® Program*
If you enrolled in the program prior to February 5, 2006 and continued to meet the requirements of the program, you will be eligible for a free phone up to $100, or a credit of up to $100 toward a more expensive phone, when you become eligible for your next New Every Two upgrade (after which time you will be enrolled in the $50/$100 New Every Two program described below).
If you enrolled in the program on February 5, 2006 or after you will qualify for a free phone up to a $50 or $100 value, depending on the monthly access of your plan. If your calling plan monthly access is $79.99 or higher for the entire three months prior to completing your New Every Two phone upgrade, you will get up to $100.00 toward the purchase of a new phone. If your calling plan monthly access was between $34.99 and $79.98 at any time during the three months prior to completing your New Every Two phone upgrade, you will get up to $50.00 toward the purchase of a new phone."
So, you might still be able to get a discount. I would wait until the 21st and see what the actual cost is before getting too upset.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not upset, just a little bit unhappy about how wireless carriers do business. What about the loyal customer that wants to upgrade his/her phone every 8-10 months? I will be calling Verizon customer service and stating my case to them when the Storm releases. I don't mind re-newing my 2-year contract, hell I'd sign a 3-year if I could. I'm not going anywhere, ya know? I just want the newest device and am willing to pay a decent amount for it. I just don't feel I should have to pay $519+ when I've been an outstanding customer, paying a large bill, for years (including ins.) I'm sure many feel the same way. Just getting it off my chest, sorry guys.
chuckh0308 Nov 14, 2008 at 1:33 am
Sadly, they are more interested in getting new customers than keeping old customers, but I think you'll still be able to get the Storm next week at near the $200 mark. Hopefully I'm not wrong, but unless you've only been with them for a couple months you should get some sort of a discount. I've been with Verizon since the days of the Dinosaur, so I don't have to worry too much about it. I think I have also averaged less than one device for every two years during that time. This will be the first time I upgrade early I think...maybe the second time.
Christopher Case Nov 14, 2008 at 1:44 am
Yes, you are very true about verizon wanting new customers. I've got a good friend that has been a sales rep for verizon for quite some time and shes seen a lot. Including customers ranting and getting new devices for new customer pricing when they weren't eligible, in fact I did it when I was just 16 months into my new two-year contract so I'll be trying my luck once again for the Storm. Does anyone have any suggestions other than the (I've been an excellent customer spiel?) Thanks.

In the U.S., carriers buy the phones and sell them at a significant loss to get you into a contract. Case in point: The retail for the LG Dare is $410 - they take a big loss by offering that for $200, and recoup their money after several months. Assuming you had their smallest plan of $39.99, every cent you pay for the first 6 months of service is to absorb the loss of the handset discount.
Now, the remaining months aren't full profit either - a large chunk of your monthly charge goes into operating costs (paychecks for the employees, rent, maintenance, advertising, etc). Anyways, do you see why they wouldn't let you upgrade all the time? They don't break even until a long time into your contract. Expecting to upgrade every 8-10 months is absurd as they wouldn't make any profit!
Things work differently in other parts of the world. In Europe, for example, it's common to purchase fully unlocked GSM phones straight from the manufacturer/dealers at full cost ($400+) and go month-to-month. U.S. carriers have only just begun offering you the option of going month-to-month if you purchase the phone at retail.

Nope because I can't upgrade until next October. I would have to pay retail and I would prefer not to.

I modified my vacation to be home for the release....that's sad, and yes, I have a problem!
wILLZ10 Nov 14, 2008 at 1:23 pm
They just called 11am Next Friday the 21 is my Appointment!!!!!!!
GHdude Nov 14, 2008 at 1:34 pm
At Best Buy and since I'm no where near my NE2 I have to pay FULL price....and that will be $699.99!! I almost fell off the chair when she told me that. I guess the best part is I can use my Best Buy CC and pay no interest for 18 months....
But is there anyway I can get around paying retail price? NE2 isn't until next September...Thought about add a line but will that really work? Would I have to change my number? Either way I'm still getting my phone next Friday!
vthokie Nov 15, 2008 at 12:04 am
add a line. I called verizon reps, several times, to see if this would work. This is how you do it:
-add a line for 9.99, turn it into a family share plan, put the storm on there as the second line.
-then wait a few days, take it to a local retailer, then switch the phone to your line, if you have a non-pda phone, use that as the second line, and just pay 9.99 a month for that line so you aren't stuck with 29.99 per month for each data and e-mail package.
-then if you really want, cancel the number, it's only 175 early termination so you still end up ahead of the game at around 347.00 before taxes versus your 530-699 price range. and it doesn't extend your contract.
and if it doesn't work, I'll raise all mighty hell, I talked to about 5 different people on different occasions, they do it all the time.I think verizon tech reps hate me by now with my nearly daily phone calls to make sure it'd work.
mclarryjr Nov 14, 2008 at 3:11 pm
Just break your 2 yrs contract for $150or $125, and then buy the storm for $199. This way it drops the cost to $349 still high but not over $500.
surfmly29 Nov 14, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Anyone know if you are a Verizon VIP, will the $50 discount you get every year (separate from ne2) work on the Storm as well (meaning a $149 total price)? From what I have found out the answer is yes, but I could just see VZW making this particular phone 'not eligible'....can't wait for the 21st either way!!
VZWM Nov 14, 2008 at 6:40 pm
You will get the extra $50 off if you are VIP and it has been a year since you last upgraded your phone. $149.99 is the final price.
Nov 14, 2008 at 8:34 pm
One Rep told me you can't use the New Every Two and VIP discounts together. So either you get the $100 NE2 or the $50 VIP. The Phone will either be $149 for those using VIP and $99 for those using NE2.
It would be great if NE2 and VIP could be used together. Then you could get the phone for $49. If only.
surfmly29 Nov 15, 2008 at 1:23 am
I don't have my ne2 available anyway so just glad the VIP discount works. $149 is a great price for this phone. Just hope it lives up to my expectations...
Derekkkkkkkk Nov 14, 2008 at 5:20 pm
if my contract is up with my old phone can i get money off from the storm price?
drewsak Nov 14, 2008 at 11:35 pm
So will the Storm work on AT&T....or would I have to wait for the Storm to come out on AT&T???
8100berry Nov 15, 2008 at 3:15 am
I know this might be a silly question so please forgive me. I would like to purchase the Storm phone for my husband, but he has T-Mobile service. Can he get T-Mobile to activate the Storm.
CrackisWackBerryisNOT Nov 18, 2008 at 3:09 am
For the GSM Storm, it will probably be out just after Christmas. I would cheek here or on gizmodo.com & see what the consensus is about the release date between the 2. This Storm for verizon is on a system called CDMA while T-Mobile AND AT&T are on a system called GSM. Completely DIFFERENT lol. Good luck getting 1 for your hubby when it comes out.
safemodef8 Nov 15, 2008 at 6:57 am
does RIM have a contract with Verizon for exclusivity like Apple have with At&T for the iPhone?
loose tongue Nov 15, 2008 at 10:35 am
does any one know if verizon offers a family share minutes plan for the storm and other blackberry devices? Similar to the family share plan they offer for regular phones?
Ghdude Nov 15, 2008 at 11:41 am
I am currently on a family share plan with two other non blackberry phones. I just pay $29.99 more a month for the data plan
Mikey Vinny Nov 17, 2008 at 5:17 pm
The Best Buy web page says the Storm in being released on the 23? I called Best Buy and Verizon they all say the 21st, anyone have any idea if Best Buy is releasing it on the 21st or 23 like the web site says?
eddiestorm Nov 18, 2008 at 12:09 pm
Just spoke to the BestBuy rep and he said the weekly ad has the release day by BB as 11/23 which he indicated is tentative. He indicated this date could change to the 21st for deposit holders, but it's still unknown.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I am extremely disappointed, frustrated, and shocked at today's (11/21/08) highly publicized "big release" of the new Blackberry Storm phone.
I don't even know where to begin in explaining today's circumstances so I'll just try to summarize the details...
None of the store's phone recording's mentioned the "promotional" 7.am. store opening, so needless to say when I called a few minutes before what I expected was the opening at 9a.m., all of the Storms were already sold out!
3 of the stores in my area had less than 100 units?! (5, 20, & 75)
On the phone, I was lied to by 2 different store representative's: 1 saying they were receiving another shipment later in the day so to come on by; the other saying if I came by they'd waive the overnight shipping fee and I'd have the phone by tomorrow a.m., plus there was "nobody in line" so I could place the order right away...
After going to the store, (5 mins. away) there were about 10 people in line and 20 or so already in queue or in the store!
After waiting about 30 mins. or so, still nowhere nearing being helped or getting any answers, the word from the store reps. was that now everything is on back order and it could take up to 5 days to ship if I ordered it today.
The whole scene was a mess and everyone had a different answer so I eventually left to go home and figured I'd just order it online...
Of course, that led me nowhere because the icing on the cake was that your website was down!
For a nationally-publicized, long-running ad campaign, high-profile product release, blogs all over the place about the hype...
What in the world happened today???
Didn't anyone learn from the iPhone releases that there is a huge demand out here for these devices?
It's hard to believe that it appears Verizon was not prepared for today's release in even the slightest degree.
I do not even know what else to say but this is absolutely ridiculous.
