After being announced only two short weeks ago, Verizon has received the Pearl Flip 8230 right on schedule. We got our hands on one early and posted our review yesterday. The 8230 is available through Verizon's online and retail stores for $79.99 with a new 2-year contract.  Not surprisingly, it looks like Big Red has also pulled the Pearl 8130 from their site. Now bring on the Tour! =-)

Why is this such a big deal? Other lesser markets have gotten this model without all this excitement. The way this is being pushed you'd think they just got the Tour 9630.

Correct me if I'm wrong , but I think the Pearl Flip is a first for a CDMA carrier in the US.

And there could very well be individuals who prefer a SureType flip smartphone over a QWERTY slab.

Cellular South a CDMA carrier for the Mississippi/Alabama area has had the 8230 for about a month now.

Got the first one from the store near me here in CT. Took it home and brought it right back. It's nice however after having the Storm and the feel of that I was afraid I was going to break this all plastic phone. The flip is nice but just didn't feel right. I've been a flip phone fanatic forever but just don't like this one.

I've had one for about a month now and they have been out for at least 3. I still can't find anywhere to get free themes, it only comes with two and one of them says BELL in big letters (a canadian service provider). LAME

I never got the idea of having a blackberry flip phone. Doesn't that just kill the total meaning behind what blackberry is all about by condensing it into a useless and less featured phone?

If you read the specs the 8230 is actually a more advanced phone than many including the 8330 that I have and love. Besides... is there a "total meaning" behind BB? You are overthinking this. Peace.
