As we learned already, Verizon is planning to roll out BlackBerry 7.1 to both the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and the BlackBerry Torch 9850 but until now, the dates for release were unknown. According to the latest information we're hearing, it won't be that long of a wait for users as the updates will start to roll out on Jan 10th and be staggered out through the 12th and 13th provided you're on an official OS. If you're already running the Sprint version of the same OS, you'll not be alerted to update.

Official OS 7.1 finally coming out. I bet all of them are better than any version of OS 7.0... So for for Bold 9900 OS 7.1 leaks have been better than the OS 7.0 I original stock version.

@ least we finally know how long coming soon means! Can't wait!

Where is the 9900 love? Went from 9900 getting the most 7.0 leaks and officials, then 2x7.1 leaks and still no word of an official, especially with T-Mobile's, "an update will be coming to 9900 users in November," to no word of it at all. And since these 7.1 leaks have been all misses, I'll wait on an official!

Think i'll be waiting a few weeks before updating my 9930.

Btw r apps like BeBuzz and Leave It On 7.1 compatible?

I know BeBuzz is. And all the apps I've ever used seem to work fine with 7.1.

But, 7.1 from Sprint has some issues. Battery is a big one. You can jump from 100 to 91 percent battery within 5 minutes. After that it settles for a while, but still you only get about 4 hours worth of decent battery life.

I just read about that battery stuff in a magazine. It could damage the battery if kept constantly at 100%. That's why battery is kept at around 90% if connected to charger constantly. This is much healthier for battery. To not confuse the user, the phone will still report 100%. Of course, this has to be compensated later on. So you see a faster dropdown of battery life at the very beginning when you take it from the charger.

I'm running the Spint 7.1 on Verizon 9930 and second the comment about battery life going down 10% almost instantly. Also experiencing a generally constant huge memory leak requiring at least one battery pull a day. Have booted in safe mode and run almost nothing and still have it so am hoping there is something different about the Verizon version coming. What is odd is that one day one time the unit reclaimed 40MB of that "other" memory that was lost and held steady. One time only and then back to the leaks. Yes lenn5 Leave It On works and w/ the Social Scope update I have no apps I want that aren't OS 7.1 compatible.

Dude! I hate that "other" memory thing !.. You're talking about the like yellow bar indicator for memory right??? What the heck is the "other" it just keeps allocating more memory when I don't even use the phone!!!

I've had a memory leak problem on 7.0 9850 since I got it. I reboot every couple days usually, I was hoping this update might address that. Aside from the memory leak though, I haven't had any problems and have been very pleased with my 9850. :)

7.1 sounds great, I almost want to upgrade to a Bold 9900. Almost.

What do you have then?

i'll wait til they get a more stable os build thank you. heard too many negatives about the sprint version, which I believe is what this "update" sits at
