I'm currently using this app but I like to try out the official Twitter app from RIM. Is there any way I can get the app?

  • Reply

Valgi Mar 10, 2010 at 2:32 pm

I don't like the official Twitter app from RIM. It doesn't have as many options as ÜberTwitter does. So far, the only way to get it is by an invite code. ÜT rocks. =D

You can request of RIM to be part of the Beta. I did that and several weeks later got an invite. That was awesome.

BTW, I just removed it off my device after having it for a couple of weeks. Uber is just that much better, to me, IMHO.

Any update to the UI with this build? I believe it's being worked on and until it's incorporated I'll be staying away from UT.

Finally, the option to delete DM's :) Makes me happy. Oh, and the opt-out for sponsored content tweets, yay! I really hated those, lol

  • Reply

shabazosu Mar 10, 2010 at 3:01 pm

I'm really glad they added the option to not see the sponsored tweets, the ads banner is 'bad' enough.
(And yes, I realize I could get rid of the banner if I purchase the app, but that's just silly).

Yes, the OPT-OUT for sponsored tweets is very nice.

can someone please tell me what options UberTwitter has over the RIM app? I have tried to like ubertwitter but the rim app and even openbeak are superior in my opinion

  • Reply

VeniceBB Mar 10, 2010 at 4:49 pm

There's quite a few, but the ones that come to my mind are these:
- geotagging
- option for @-mention notifications
- tweetphoto
- multiple account support
- @-mentions and DM's integrated into 'my timeline' so no need to keep switching between different screens
- Friend picker

I have to say that it's been a while since I got rid of RIM's beta, so I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting some stuff now... For me, RIM's app was just lacking too many options that I personally use a lot. Multiple Account support was the big one for me, along with the fact that I couldn't just shut the app down when I went to sleep. I had to either log out, or change the sound notifications so I could go to sleep without waking up 10 times every night.

Fail :(

Have you tried a battery pull after installing it? And checked the network options? I have mine set to Bis-B and Wifi if available, works like a charm

I love Uber twitter.

I'm going to trash the Rim twitter app very very soon.

I remember the video that CB did for the UberTwitter app and it mentioned something about some of the features of UberTwitter only being available on the paid version, but I downloaded this today and all the features are available. Like, one small example is the "bar" vs. "bubble" options for your timeline....the only one available for the free version was bubble, but now they're both there. Is this all going to continue to be available or is it for a limited time or something? Lol, I feel dumb even asking but I ditched UberTwitter awhile ago for TweetGenius and now UberTwitter with all of these options and features is just so much better....I want them all to continue being an option and not be taken away lol.

Been using the free versions (first regular, then switched to beta's) for a while now and I never missed any options that people had who have paid for it had. The only difference as far as I can tell is that the paid version is ad-free

I have been using UberTwitter beta for about a month and actually signed up for Twitter to be able to use some of these cool apps. Until this morning I was running the older version of beta 9 I believe it is and I upgraded when I saw this version was available. I haven't noticed any issues in the actual program itself but I did notice that my battery life is now terrible. Meterberry shows my average discharge rate at 16.9% per hour and I haven't made any calls since I took the phone off the charger. The only change I made to my phone's program was updating this software so I'm rather certain this update is causing my issues.

I've been using the previous version and it worked flawlessly. Tried updating to this new version, and it doesn't work. I'm able to install it and set it up. But when it starts to load tweets, it just sits there, with the loading icon circle spinning for minutes. I've tried installing twice, battery pulls, different settings...nothing is working for me.

If You Have Paid For Uber Twitter ( As I Did ) Other Then Ad Free, There Should Be More Perks .. Common .. Please?

I'm sure it was only a minor tweak, but during the kid's tee-ball game and a "rare" UberTwitter login, I was notified by UT that a new version was available. I haven't noticed anything different, but I'm not a "power" tweeter. It's version .971.

Anybody seen this?
